When Was The Last Time You Did This?

A few months ago I recall looking at my desktop and was shocked by how cluttered it had become! I'd unconsciously been collecting new stuff like free reports, videos, notes in notepad, shortcuts, etc and it got to the point where it was completely out of hand, so I did some major "house cleaning" and got myself organized, deleted a ton of older files and burned several others onto disc.

Fast forward to yesterday and it dawned on me that my desktop was almost as bad as it was before! I wondered how in the world that could have happened and then I realized that I was getting way too much email (again)!

I'd managed to sign up for several freebies, bought even more WSO's, pulled stuff back onto my desktop that I'd removed before because I thought it would be relevant to this "new" thing I was gonna do, etc.

This madness has to stop!

This time I'm not only organizing my desktop and removing everything that isn't absolutely necessary in my day-to-day work, I'm also unsubscribing from multiple lists and rerouting those that aren't absolutely necessary to another email address. I can check that once per week. I want to keep my primary email inbox as clutter free as possible.

Also, when was the last time you cleaned up your saved files in your inbox? I'm a freaking email hoarder! I've got dozens of files from A-Z from most major marketers and on most major topics. Those get organized next and many long time relationships will be ended.

Although I am a multi-tasker and can do more than one thing at a time, it's not smart. I need to be focused on ONE thing at a time. Having multiple files full of "opportunities" on my desktop and "bright shiny objects" hitting my inbox several times a day is HURTING me, not HELPING me!

If you haven't done this recently I highly recommend it. It feels liberating. All of that clutter is stunting your growth. I've been around long enough to know better, yet I still allowed it to sneak up on me (again).

Anyway, I hope this little reminder will help others to get back on track too.

Oh, (Note to self) and stop buying so many WSO's!!!

Why do you save everything to your desktop

I have many folders and subfolders for saving downloads

For example if I find a report on CPA that I want to keep it goes under my Main business folder>sub folder "affiliate marketing">sub sub folder "CPA" I also rename all downloads so I can easily recognize them as many downloads have file names that are numbers or some type of code the originator is using

I keep very little on my desktop and very rarely save anything to it

I do use folders and sub-folders. I guess I wasn't clear. I am "somewhat" organized, though not as much as I should be. I just had too much piling up and too many distractions. That was my main point.

Good question! I'm somewhat organized too - I just keep my desktop items hidden

I never clean my emails - I just archive them, or delete the obvious 'don't needs'.

So.. if it comforts you, you're not the only one.
