I've tried searching but haven't found my answer. Is posting a FREE WSO free? Or do you still have to pay the $40 something? And do I have to be a WarRoom member to post a FREE WSO? I currently have several software packages that I'd like to offer for free and as open source but I don't have WarRoom and don't really use online payment methods.

You need to be a War Room member and to pay the $40 listing-fee, to post any WSO, free or paid.

You can also post free things for members to download in the War Room, without paying $40 to list a WSO (but can't require an opt-in for the download, i.e. use them to build a list, that way). That would cost you only $37 in total, and gain you the other War Room benefits, too.

You'll need to have a way (PayPal or there are two or three other options, I think) to pay the $37 for War Room membership (and the $40 to list a WSO, if you decide to). Good luck, and I hope you find a way to give away your software.

If you want to post in Warrior Special Offers section you must to pay 40 dollars.
But if you want to offer this for free you can use others section on the forum like: http://www.warriorforum.com/war-room...e-discussions/

Yepp, $77 (37 war room, 40 wso) to post a WSO. Doesn't matter if your offer costs $0 or $2000.

You can always post in the classified here too. I think that's only 20 bucks and no need to be war room member.

What you could really do is put your offer in your signature file (free) and just be active on the forums (free, but sometimes time consuming).

To post a WSO, you need War Room membership ($37) and listing fee ($40). Each bump costs an additional $40.

If you want free, you can set-up a free blog to list your software and use text links in your signature to promote.

Thanks for the responses. I think I've decided to put a blog and keep my work there and just link to it.

Its only $40 if you have a solid product that your going to list for free and have good oto after they optin then that $40 would be money well spent
And you also build your list..

The listing fee is really insignificant if you are giving away free stuff to build a list. You should be able to make back your investment in no time at all.

You will need to pay for it to get your WSO listed. When they mention Free WSO, it basically means that you do not need to pay anything and you can get access to the product that they have mention in the WSO.

Haha but be prepared that they will upsell with some offer once you get access to the free product. It is normal and I am fine with it if they provide good content in the free product.

Aren't you offering anything for sale, or are you selling via other channels?

... don't really use online payment methods.
There are three payment options.... Paypal, Authorize.net, and
I can't remember what the third one is... but they are all online
    payment methods.

I run free WSO's all the time and find them a great investment....
depending you ultimate objective of course.

Yeah you need to be a war room member and pay the $40, it can be really beneficial though. I released a free WSO a couple of weeks ago and it's been really successful!

I suggest you get paypal too, makes life a lot easier!

I wasn't planning on selling anything, or building a list. I was just simply planning to release free tools. Some of them, if not all, will include source code.

I really appreciate all of your feedback. I'm going follow suite and get War Room once I get my payment method setup.

You're probably asking why I want to give away free tools? Simply because of people like me. People that want to start out in IM and have no money to do it. I think there should be a fair opportunity for all. Eventually I'll start offering better versions or new tool at a small price and try to begin building a profitable business. Until then, I think it's best for me to build a reputable name for myself first.

Thanks again for all of your feedback, it's helped me decide a few things. Keep an eye on my sig for upcoming tools. And if anyone has ideas for a tool let me know, I may work on it.

This is a strange thread. You seem to know little about WSOs though you've been a member two years - yet you are complaining about high WSO prices on the site in your signature.

The offer on your sig site to "clone paid tools" on request concerns me. You can get into murky legal waters with an offer like that.

If the only thing you want is to create tools and give them away free:

      -create the tools
-put them on your site for download
-put that site in your signature

I keep seeing people always saying you need to be a War Room member to list a WSO. But I routinely see people listing WSO's with no War Room membership on their profile. So I'm not sure exactly how accurate that is?

Case in point below. Not a War Room member (from what I can see) but has listed a WSO.

I'm lost here... you want to give away the farm.. and the tools to paint the farm any way someone likes.. but you don't want to build a list OR make money?

Are you some kind of philanthropist with tons of money laying around, just trying to better the IM world?

What's the purpose of doing Anything if you are just going to leave money not only on the table, but from the sounds of it, in the trash can as well?

Not everyone starting in IM can afford the tools they need. I know from experience that starting out with little-to-no budget is near impossible. I'm simply saying I have the means to write software and give it away to help those that can't afford the paid alternatives.

Ok I get that- but you do realize that it won't just be broke newbies coming to your site, if you are getting any real traffic at all. And not monetizing or capturing leads in any way is just plain silly.

Trust me, having started in this biz with a budget of literally $10, I know what it's like to need free tools and be frustrated by the quality of what's out there, as well as a million upsells.

I remember one guy who wrote a plugin for WordPress and gave it to a small group of us for free for a year because he had the same attitude as you - and I actually Asked him to be on his list because I appreciated it so much, I wanted to keep tabs on him in the future. Especially when I had money to spend on other tools he might develop.

This could be an opportunity not only to help others, not only to build a following, but to open the doors to future projects where you can actually make a boatload of cash in an above-board, ethical sort of way. Where the very people you help now will be loyal to you later.

But not if you don't even attempt to capture leads.

Just to add some clarity, to post a WSO for the first time you have to pay a one time fee of $37 to join the War Room in order to post a WSO, and posting a WSO costs an additional $40.

You only have to pay the $37 once to join the War Room.

When a person joins the War Room they have to take a specific action for the "War Room member" tagline to show up underneath their name. I don't know what it is specifically but I think it's logging into the War Room or making their first post as a War Room member.

No one in the WSO can post an ad there unless they're a paid member of the War Room. So if the tagline doesn't show under their name it will eventually at some point.

That would explain things. That is what confuses people because we are always told you have to be a War Room member but to the untrained eye they see people posting WSO's without the War Room title on their profile.
