How do I see what hosting provider a website is hosted on?

Hi there,

Is there a tool that will let me enter any active url to see what hosting provider is hosting that website?

Just curious to find out.

Thanks,

Ryan

Just do a whois search. I usually go to domainbank.net (I don't order anything from them though - way too expensive), do a whois search. It usually tells me there on the spot. If not, it will tell me what whois address to use.

      just so we are clear...

I am not looking to see where a domain NAME namersevers are.

I am looking to see where the actual website is hosted on.

Will this tell me the correct info if the website is hosted on a provider but the domain name is hosted on another provider and just points to the website index.html page?

I'm trying to figure this out, so maybe I am missing something?

        You can use domaintools.com
For Example: Warriorforum says: Server Data
IP Location United States - Texas - Dallas - Theplanet.com Internet Services Inc

Ryan, that's the same thing. Once you know what the name server is, you can track down the host.
