What is/were your biggest obstacles that held you down?

I just wanted to start this thread as we are all hear to learn from each other and I think this will be a good view point for the struggling marketers who frequent this forum.

I would have to say for me when I first got started in 2008 was not having any direction and trying to go at it alone which was my biggest obstacle.

Then at a close second would have to be starting on a project/course and not seeing it through then jumping from course to course without ever really giving a course a fair fighting chance to see if I could make it work.

Lastly, I didn't see the light of day or make any real money until I eliminated the second obstacle above and honed in on one proven business model and worked it like there was no tomorrow.

I'd love to hear the feedback of some of you other Warriors out there on what some of your biggest obstacles was.

    In my culture, it is common practice to go to school and train to be a doctor or lawyer, and get a high paying position in some company. To "break the mould" and do your own thing is a big challenge. My family were at first against me doing IM, but once I showed them how successful some people are at it, they were very supportive.

    I would also say, jumping from product to product, hope for the "magic" button... and result of this, no focus....
    and also the result of buyting goo many WSOs or ebooks... not taking action! just learn and have a good know how does not bring anything if you don't USE it..... I think lots of marketers struggle with this one...

      Exactly, I think most people who enter this industry for the first time have that same exact problem as well, but once you get to the point to where you shake off all the "MAGIC" Button and commit yourself to a proven business model and you get that first taste of success, it is so bitter sweet.

      Thank you Spencer for sharing your biggest obstacles as well! I also agree with the 4 steps you got posted and absolutely 100% agree with number 1. Stop learning and start working.

        I think there may be a bit of a theme developing here

        Mine are very similar to the points already mentioned.

        Actually sticking with one method is vital for success, but it's so easy to jump from one thing to the next without ever giving anything a proper go. Though I work online full-time and manage to make a full-time income, I'm still guilty of being distracted by shiny objects from time to time, and being tempted by the latest WSOs!

        Secondly, as James mentioned, it can be difficult to overcome the 'what other people think' factor. I left a high paying graduate job to do this, in the middle of a recession, and most of my friends thought that I was mad. I wouldn't class it as an obstacle as such, but it's a source of frustration and you certainly have to be determined and focused to ensure that it doesn't knock you off-course.

          My biggest obstacle in the last couple of years was getting too comfortable. When you're earning a full time living and it appears stable, you don't put in as many hours as when it was make or break for you.

          I got that hunger back when one of my main sites was hit by a Google update though (even though it was apparently what Google wanted). I was still earning as had a few projects on, but I wanted that main site back up and running. I had already been diversifying traffic, but it made it do so even more. And while it's a bit more work then letting Google drive my customers, it's just as profitable.

    A big one for me is still fear of losing money, or not seeing a return on my investment

    Another is still information overload. There are so many ways to make money

    Usually when I settle down and come back to what has always made me money before, that's when I do the best
