Don't You Ever Feel Like Someone Else's Bank Account?

There are few reasons why people get refunds from you:

1) The Quick Refund: Your product stinks, having trouble downloading, or they're stealing from you.

2) The Delayed Refund: The customer tries out your product, doesn't get results, then asks for a refund.

And here's the one this post is about...

3) The You're-My-Personal-Bank-Account Refund: Weeks or months down the road, the customer needs money for something in his life and thinks, "Gee, where can I scrounge up $500?" First they go dump all their change into one of those change machines that spits back dollars. Then they think about everything they bought recently that they can return. One of those things is your ClickBank product. So they contact ClickBank behind your back and dip into your pockets, as if you're their personal bank account.

ClickBank makes it easier for this type of refund to happen, but have you ever had customers contact you months after buying your product and say, "I love your product. I got good results with it. But I'm kind of in a tight spot right now, so I need my money back." ? I give the refund, but it's like... what do I look like? Your personal bank account?

I have actually never had that happen yet. 30 days should be enough for them to decide IMHO though and with a digital product, if it is not ... well than it was just gathering dust on their hard drive anyhow.

Hard to tell with some people

My intuition tells me that more than half of refunds are because people need their money back to pay their bills. Of course, most people won't say that and they will say they didn't use the product (which might be true) or that the product isn't good enough.

If someone has debt collectors coming after them, or even if they are just looking for some extra money to offset the cash they spent on a birthday gift, they are going to get that refund. It's just an email away.

One of the funny things about where I live is that most shops don't allow cash refunds. The moment you allow refunds here, that's when people exploit the 'golden opportunity' that's been handed to them.

Imagine if refunds were not allowed all over the world but only online? Now, I wonder what would happen then.
