I know many do use video, just curious to know what's stopping those who don't?

I don't appear on video for several reasons.. am I alone?

Cheers

Probably because they think its hard to do. And the shy camera thing.

I use it to do marketing. Mostly using picture slide shows with music and voice over.
Very Effective. Use a persona akin to a pen name if you do not want to be linked to the marketing campaign.

With billions of searches per month on youtube- you have to be there!

I would like to use it, but I am reluctant to do so. The only reason being, is that I have a broadband connection, but because I am close to the end of my telephone exchange, these days, I only have a slow connection.

A couple of years ago it was fast, but with so many people using the infastructure now, it is a crawl. If I stay up at night and download between 1:00am and 3:30am download and videos run like greased lightening. Any other time it is like watching paint dry.

So I simply cannot watch most of the videos sent to me via links on email, or found on websites. I wonder therefore, how many other people in the world have the same difficulties as me.

In sum, the reason I don't use video, is that I am uncertain as to how genuine quality deliverability really is to a mass audience.

      Regards,
      Jeff.

You have little control over bit-rate with video-sharing sites - so while
many marketers who dont know better say "just host on YouTube" what
they don't know is that YouTube punishes people on slower connections
with it's high bitrate. When you host on your own account you can
keep set the pre-load time and bitrate so even people on marginal
connections can enjoy video that would otherwise be painful too watch
to to starting/stopping and huge file sizes.

phone spam sucks. I wish you would stop calling me with your
      dumb-ass system.

      To answer your question:

True video that plays within the email itself won't work - gets
blocked by the majority of email clients because the file sizes
are huge. Google is rolling-out a technology for gmail users
      to view embedded videos soon.

Otherwise you can put a GIF in your email - but no sound.

A still or GIF preview can be made clickable to open a new
window where the video could autoplay. Youtube, viddler,
      whatever.

I understand the shyness, but you guys should consider how effective web video really is. I always pay more attention to sites with an introductory video, it makes me more comfortable with being pitched to. However, it isn't for everyone and it certainly isn't a requirement for success in online marketing.

I dont get why people dont do video. Not all video ads are done with people in them. Using slides of products and services is just as good. The most you would have is voice surly you all are not to afraid to speak?

I don't use video because I haven't figured out how to make them look professional yet.
English isn't my first language either, so that's a challenge.

However, I am planning to start making videos, I'm just not ready yet.

Several of you have written that you are not comfortable on camera. That's totally understandable. Several others of you have written that you do a kind of video slideshow, that's really a good idea. Some of you have expressed concern about not being an English speaker or possibly about your voice. Another good point.

Please keep in mind that YouTube is the number two search engine. And that making a video, linking it to your keywords, and your site are a tremendous boost to your Internet marketing efforts.

For those of you who have expressed concerns about the challenges I've listed above please go to this website and take a look at the video. This video was made with Windows movie maker, not the greatest program in the world but it will get the job done. It's hosted on YouTube and by "marketing" the video (giving some back links to the video instead of my site) I've been able to drive some fairly substantial traffic with this very modest little video. CuringPanicAttacks-Article (I only put this link up as an example of a SIMPLE video you can make, all the photo's were from a Free photo exchange. YES, always notify the Photographers, they will help spread the WORD of your video.)

There are people who will make a video for you, there are people who will voice a video for you, and please understand this doesn't have to be a an expensive endeavor on your part. You might even be able to trade someone for something of value you have for them to do some of this work for you.

As a former TV news reporter I urge you to find a way to go ahead and get a video made. It has really helped my Internet marketing efforts and I think it'll help you too.

      All my best,
      Palo

thats where I am at this point....the language deal. Tho I do understand and speak very well, its just I don't pronounce the words like native english people and I have alot of "hmmm"..."aaaa" moments in speaking cus I cant really speak THAT fluent...sometimes I have to take 1-2 second breaks to find my words.

I did some videos and it worked so-so but I still don't know if to put it on my sales letter etc...US people might think im a scam or stuff...infact most already do when they find out im romanian.

      That's self-defeating thinking my friend.

Think of ways being European can be an asset to your customers,
and work that into your language - ie "because I'm in Romania
I have access to inexpensive labor - and I can supervise my workers
directly because they aren't half-a-world away in India. What this
means for you is more accurate communication and better results..."

Not that much self-defeating as in indeciseve, and thats what Im thinking to do for some time...to come up with stuff that being european gives me some type of edge...and other people told me this too.

Was talking to Moffat once and he said the same thing...you can market yourself alot better if you know how to use the fact that your european.

thanks for the tip...didn't thought of the labor deal

I can certainly NOT use the cheap labour argument, as Norway is the most expensive country in the world, with the highest prices on just about anything.
Did you know that it's more expensive to live in Oslo (our capital) than it is to live on Tokya or New York? Well, it is!

I think I will just write down what I wanna say before i make the videos and then just briefly mention that I'm from Norway.
          Everybody is from somewhere.
Romania, Canada, Singapore... does it really matter?

The number one reason is.. I'm on dialup!

Aside from that, too many have the mind-set of "the more, the better" when it comes to video. You CAN over-do a "good thing".

What really ticks me off is when I go to a site, then find out that the entire first page is 100% video. I leave at once. Viewing your video should be by choice, not required.

Video has it's place for sure, but I think it should be used in moderation.

I am just now getting into video that I will embed throughout my sales page for one of my sites. Plus, I am creating video for DVD's so I can charge at least ten times more than I am currently charging for my ebooks.

I was wondering if anyone has found a good place to host their videos? Amazon S3 looks pretty complicated to me, but don't really know for sure yet.

One of..ok..the main reason..why I'm not yet doing video marketing is because I believe that no matter how good of a job I do selling/promoting something in the video...no one is going to watch it and thus, all that time I spent making the video will be in vain.

I know this is not even remotely true in most cases, but it's what's stopping me at the moment. ;-)

Misconceptions, fear, lack of resources, lack of knowledge, slow internet connection, no specific need, a face for radio, language barriers... I think that pretty much covers it.

Btw... there are solutions for every one of those problems :-)

Pete, why are you stuck on dialup? Are there no wireless or satellite services in your area?

Video isn't the future. Video is the NOW. Video marketing has changed my business 10000000%. Forget moderation.. I love getting in front of the camera, and I hate typing.

    Misconceptions:

    1. Video has to be professional. Honestly the professional videos I did sucked ass. People want to see you, not some scripted nonsense.

    2. Video is harder. No video is easier. I can knock out 10 videos in 2-3 hours
which is 10 new emails for my autoresponder because all of them basically
just say - check out this new video.

    3. You have to be in front of camera - I admit I love teaching in front of the
camera because it's easy to get my point across. My tone, gestures, pauses,
everything plays a part. But understand there are also different types of effective
    video such as camtasia.

Youtube is the number 2 visited site. It's safe to say the people want video.
There are a few who say they will click off your website if you have video. Who
    gives a shit?

Your on my website to learn/help/better your life. Not give me your money.
If you wouldn't buy a product that would help better your life because it has
video, then thats your personal business. But most people aren't like that.
