Hey guys,

I have been up and about with Internet marketing for some time, but I have never really succeeded. The most of what I got from affiliate marketing was $25 commission on referring a friend to payoneer. So, I have tried so many programs, but they just haven't worked for me. I have spent close to $600 in programs from experienced people and set ups, but now I just can't. Right now, I can't risk a lot of money any more. Am frustrated.

I have set up websites, got them ranked, but had traffic that never converted, I have tried YouTube, ranking the video, got so much traffic, but never converted, I recently tried PPC advertising with Bing and they closed my account saying for security reasons.

To sum it up, as far as I can see, making money from internet marketing is a far fetched dream. I am on the verge of giving up right now. All I can say is if there is anyone who can help me set up a low cost strategy that is easy to get started and make me $1 a day in profit, then I can scale it up. Thats all am asking for.

Cheers,

Wil.

I don't know how long you've been at it, but I spent a year trying to make money on my own via affiliate marketing. Even after I found a legitimate program, it still took me three months to make my first sale. I thought that was forever back then, but lots of people have told me that it's common.

If you've gotten a website ranked and getting traffic, that means that you were doing some things right, but if you never made a sale after a significant amount of traffic, it just means there are some things you need to work on. You could have targeted the wrong keywords or not connected with your audience.

You might have chosen the wrong product to promote. Maybe the sales page sucked and didn't convert that well (fault of the product creator). Here's a tip that may help. When you are targeting keywords, you need to target those at the end of the buying cycle.

This means keywords that indicate a person has already been exposed to the product like review, scam, the author's name + the name of the product and so on. You also may not need to purchase another program. You might already have a legitimate course but not know it.

If you're not into affiliate marketing and blogging, you could try a different business model like ghostwriting, where you do some research and write content for other marketers and stuff. Whatever you do, I wouldn't give up. It just means you'll be back in the same position as before you started your online journey.

    Good luck,
    Joey

This is great advice for the OP. I would add...

It is really hard to get going. I struggled with AM for quite a while before I changed direction and started out in product development. I could only afford one more shot at the title and used everything I had to invest in a mentor.

Since then my trajectory has sky rocketed. I get the feeling that a mentor might be a push to far for you financially but if it isn't then you can really short cut your growth.

Like Joey said, you might do doing everything right and one thing wrong.

      Good luck.

Find something that you're passionate about, in a niche where products are sold, post quality content (wordpress) and drive targeted traffic. This is my simple formula.

Good point about all niches not being created equal. Wonder how you can determine if your niche will be profitable or the extent that it might be profitable. Are there any ways to research this? Surely, other sites in your niche will not want to divulge how much they are making to a stranger or competitor.

The problem is see is that you don't stick to one thing and that's a problem most of the new people that starts IM have.

So just do some good keyword research, build a website, post quality/unique content, build some social accounts for the site and slowly start building backlinks to the site.

But don't ever stop posting on the site because when you do the site will loose all the rankings and authority.

You may or may not have been doing this but building a list really makes all the difference in the world. I am sure you have heard money is in the list -- but more importantly it is in the relationship you have with your list.

It has been proven people only buy from other people they "KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST"
    KTL FORMULA

I would use the skills you developed to drive traffic through seo and video and direct it to a landing page where you can capture your visitors email address.

From there simply give them massive value and promote the same products like you were doing earlier.

Building a list is not the panecea of internet marketing. First of all it costs a fortune to build a list - buying solo ads aren't cheap. Second, if he's having problems with conversions then he needs to improve his copywriting skills. You need that skill to write emails to convince people to buy crappy products that usually don't work.

Since you are apparently good at seo, try building adsense sites. You don't have to worry about conversions. And yes you can make a ton of money with this if you're good with seo. I do it everyday.

Whoa ... how did this pure fiction creep into the conversation?!

All it has to cost, to build a list, is the autoresponder subscription-fee (for example GetResponse, at $15 per month). That isn't a "fortune", by any standards.

Come on, Adsense Guy, you know perfectly well that "buying solo ads" is only one, highly specific (and actually rather unusual) way to build a list. There are countless others.

    Hi @wil4dgc,

I hear your frustration and I can empathize with you. There's nothing worse than working so hard and getting so close to a goal and then failing to reach it. Especially when we know it's 'RIGHT THERE'.

    What I suggest:

    1. Begin list-building. You must gain leverage to get anywhere.
    2. Pick ONE coach to help you through this (yes it's really possible to make money online, and you've even proved it).
    3. Stay focused and diligent, if it's important to you then never give up. I believe in you.
    4. Complete one thing at a time from start to finish. Even if it takes you 10 different attempts, as long as they're purposeful then you'll get one.
    5. Keep a part/ full-time job in the mean time.
    6. Collaborate with others in the niche that you decide to work in.
    7. Outsource tasks, and just breath. Take the weekend off and go do something that you really enjoy. Spend time with friends and family, be in that moment and turn off the "business mind" for that weekend. This will assist you to become much more productive in the long run.

I actually think the problem may be related to the fact that you haven't put in enough time. This is business man and business is for gladiators.

Seriously dude, I know so many people who have come and gone while I stuck it out. Eventually with enough time, you just figure it out.

One thing I will say is that you need to get your priorities right. So many people in here get the green eyed monster and do whatever it takes to make money. Even if that means straight up lying to people.

Do something that makes a difference to people and they will pay you money for it. It's not rocket science. If you have an idea before you dive right in, ask yourself "will people pay money for this?".

If the answer isn't an overwhelming yes, then abandon it and move on.

My wife and I built a business around this ideology, creating high quality sites with high quality content that attracts a high quality audience.

I suggest you try and do the same thing.

Wil, despite what you read in all the promotional material out there, relatively few people achieve any real success in IM. Not everyone has what it takes and there's no shame in that.

My point isn't to make you feel bad, but to stop and consider whether you should continue pursuing 'The Dream'. In a way, you're lucky, because you've only invested $600 - some folks invest tens of thousands of dollars before they finally give up and the only result for them is a mountain of overwhelming debt.

That said, one alternative you might want to consider, at least temporarily, is to look at providing services to other marketers to earn from your specific skills/labor is setting up sites and traffic generation.

While you're doing that, you can continue to learn and develop an effective strategy for yourself.

Whatever you do, stop buying into programs that are supposed to be the answer, but ultimately fail you.
Good points in this post. Keep in mind that most small businesses fail and entrepreneurs face difficult tasks in making their businesses succeed whether you are running a blog, an auto dealership, or an ice cream shop. Even if you have worked for X amount of time, and have earned little money, don't be deterred by this.

Also, think about how low the barrier to entry is when you start a website/blog. It is super low cost so anybody with an internet connection can start a website. It's a matter of being persistent and weathering the storm. The amount of money you've lost is inconsequential to say that of a start up restaurant where thousands (maybe 100,000 + ?, not positive on this) is needed to start the business. Imagine if you started a restaurant and you lost all that money! That would be tough to overcome!

Learn your lessons, work harder, work smarter, and have confidence that anyone can start there own business and succeed. MOST BUSINESS IS COMMON SENSE. MOST SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE AT LEAST FAIL AT ONE THING BEFORE THEY ACHEIVE THEIR GOALS AND DREAMS.

I was in your exact shoes for years on the internet bouncing around and trying everything I could get my hands on..

I jumped from program to program, blaming the product, blaming the sales funnel, blaming my mentor, you name it I blamed it. I drove insane amounts of traffic and had leads galore but still no success.

Like yourself I ranked blogs and Youtube videos and had thousands of views but again very few sales..

Now let me be honest with you.. Anybody can drive traffic to an offer but converting that traffic into sales is a whole different story. You need to ask yourself if you have a true relationship with your list?? Do they know like and trust you?

Are you sending regular broadcasts out to your list? Sometimes just shooting a lifestyle video letting your list know what you're up to can work wonders. I used to have a terrible response from my email list because I treated them like numbers and used nothing but automated emails to try and sell things to them.

When you realise that the people on your list are real people and you start talking to them like you would to your friends and start letting them know who you really are, you'll see amazing things happen in your business.

    I hope this helps

Wil, I feel your pain. I think we've all been there. First applaud yourself for making $25. You may not think that's a big deal but considering that most people have never been able to earn a dime online, that's huge!

I think part of your problem is that you're bouncing around too much. Clearly you have the skills and are able to apply what you learn otherwise you would have never seen traffic with some of your efforts.

But it sounds like the conversion are your main issue. So you may want to do the following:

    1. Re-evaluate what you've been promoting.
Was it of value or was it a crappy product that happen to be hot? The difference between the two can impact your money greatly.

    2. Are you building relationships with your audience? Do they trust you? Have you given them a compelling reason that they should buy from you? Or did you just slap up some links or banners and expect that folks would just convert when they clicked on them?

    3. Is your content compelling? This goes to point number 2. I've seen my conversions sky rocket when I have video that demonstrates a product or service I'm recommending. People love the idea that I'm actually using what I'm promoting and not just trying to push it off to make money. Or I'll write a detailed review on the pros and cons of a given website I'm trying to promote so my audience knows I'm being real and they can make an informed decision.
I'm also writing as if I were having a conversation which means injecting my personality, humor, etc. No one wants to read the same crap that every other affiliate is using.

    4. Focus on one technique! It's clear that you've had some relative success with many techniques. You need to pick the one that you had the best success with and fits your style and continue to bang away at it until you do get your first conversion. Once you master it then try other techniques. But stick with one before you bounce around. So often we're just a step away from success but we get frustrated and leave.

    5. Get a mentor. A mentor or a community website may be able to spot things you're doing wrong in your campaigns and give you some guidance. But be sure you're getting this from people that are actually successful and won't make you feel like crap. Some people get off by putting others down.

So keep this stuff in mind. I think it would help you. You have the skills, you just need to fine tune your efforts and I think the above advice will help you with that.

    Hope this helps.

    What works:

Giving information of value to people on your site, driving traffic to that site using guest posting / forum marketing / kindle books etc (All instant sources of traffic), catching their details and interacting with them on social sites and email etc, offering them a product in case they want more information about what you're knowledgeable about. If it's your own product (ideal) also getting affiliates on board and getting them to promote you too.

You don't need to buy any course to put that into practice, just dedication and the ability to offer good information / market yourself. I hope it helps, good luck.

Guys these have been super helpful comments, I guess I was in a trance, I know am good, but I need to get better. I have also done freelancing, but I really don't enjoy it, the only reason why I freelance is to raise funds for IM.

I cannot respond individually to all the comments on my post, but I can truly say that they have been an eye opener. I would also like to thank you for the powerful solutions you have given me to earn money online.

Thanks to this post, a warrior dropped me a PM on a 30 day challenge to make one dollar in 30 days. It started on the 1st September, and I joined yesterday, I am already excited and most of all, the program is free.

Truly, its hard to convert traffic into sales, but at least I do have a proven method of getting traffic via Google. The beauty about IM is that you need to keep learning to get better. I am now considering creating sites, ranking them an adding Adsense to them and later flipping them. I took time to this and thought it out that its based on my strengths and I can easily maximize my earning potential.

Fellow warriors, am not giving up and I know that one day, I will surely be helping someone up in the same situation.

    Cheers mates!!

Thanks a lot mate, this means a lot. You just saw right through me. No fluff here, you have gone right straight to the point. Most of thanks for believing in me. I have a few friends doing IM, but they have not done much to pull me out of the mud, that is why I turned here for my last hope of inspiration and I got it.

Just think about all the time and money you put into internet marketing. Are you really going to let all of that go to waste?

Get a reward from it. Don't stop until you reach your goals. Even when you reach your goals you should continue, but, if you're going to quit, make sure you get something back out of the $600 you spent on products and services, and all the time you spent on internet marketing that you will never get back.

Use your anger and frustration as fuel to work harder and learn faster.

    Good Luck.

    Hey Wil
I am glad that you found some motivation to carry on.

About those sites that didn't work for you, do you want to share those with the warriors? So everyone could take a look and learn what type of niches, contents and offers does not work.

When i was in your position and nothing was working for me, i even bought some vps tried SEo and lost a lot of $$$, and did not even make single $
Then i had to close everything, i stopped reading any further guides or products..
I just started thinking thinking where i was wrong, what i was doing wrong..
Then i thought i won't listen to anyone and i won't believe in any Internet marketing product..
It was time to design my own path, i started focusing on one thing, i mastered it.. and then i went on to make sales thread about it on different forums and boom..
That was turning point.. Got some sales, invested in right thing made more $$
i had full planning, taking out 30% .. reinvesting %40 things like that
and things are going pretty well since then

And BTW the field i mastered was pinterest marketing

Well... No one ever said business was easy.

Take a look at this infographic:

If you quit, no one will stop you. But go and find a job that suits you that you'll be happy in.

But of course, this infographic doesn't promote jumping from shiny object to shiny object without accomplishing anything. It means going through completely and getting it to run successfully before trying another idea.

You've probably heard it before but build your list. Focus ONLY on building and monetizing your list and you will start succeeding. If you hop aroudn and try different things you will NEVER succeed. Just focus on building your list and monetizing that list

You won't succeed in your life if you are just letting it go. I've been there several times years ago, I was struggling to make a living in the internet (almost applied to a car dealer job), but I always think positive and never give up on any challenge. Failures may come first, it's practically normal for us as internet marketers. But take note that failures may always give us a chance to gain something, rather than keep losing something, until we can finally succeed.

Just hang in there man! Stay positive and never give up! There's a lot of room for success here.

Let me put your question into my perspective and how I read it.
    -------------
Can someone give me free coaching so I can make money?
    -------------

Look your with the most majority, the 98 percent that never succeed so feel good that you are like everyone else.

Not. I won't be mean but really man rephrase that question. Look if you want a tip and a simple tip do this.

Learn List building, stick with it till you have 500 subscribers then learn email marketing, continue list building, when you can say you have a 3 percent conversion from your email marketing then you can go into other things.

    1. Learn Listbuilding
    2. Learn Email Marketing
    3. Do them side by side
    4. After you master both then move on, but why would you want too.

Thanks for all your powerful encouragements, while I was cooling off and rethinking my strategy, I got an email which said:

      "Congratulations Wilford

You just made a sale from ....."

I was over the moon, and this was for a video I had not finished promoting ( in terms of backlinking) some 6 mothns ago and I never managed to get it to page three of Google, but after I checked, there it was, it was number 1, of course it fell off number one spot after two days, but hey, all you need to keep you focused is a sale, it give you hope and motivation.

If you are out there about to quit, don't, finally getting affiliate commissions dropping slowly is a good feeling!! You will get there, just get the right people to mentor you.

      Cheers and thanks

        Don't let go just yet.

        Have you built a list?

I bumbled along for nearly 12 months before I saw the light.
I tried all the usual stuff giving away ebooks in exchange for eMails and yes I built up a reasonable list and did get a return from that list but not huge amounts.

I tried something different and started giving software away - software has a higher perceived value than simple " every one has one" eBooks.

Come up with your own simple software products - maybe 12 products - and use that as a basis for building your client list. Feed these to your list on a weekly basis building up a rapport and trust with your list as you go.

You're almost there now - prospects who believe in you and know you will help them - you've got them eating out of your hands.

It's up to you now - they know you will be making $$$ from them but you are their friend and they won't mind buying if they respect you and you don't try and milk them.

That's the way I work a large % of my full time business now and it works.

Please don't give up. Try to clarify your goals and knowledge needed.

I have researched and concluded sure ways to make money online. Here is for you.

First You have to have writing talent to ghostwrite articles. You need to be organized, able to research topics quickly, summarize the main points and write in a clear way, with correct spelling and grammar. The article length might range from 200 words to 1000 words or more. Payment is usually determined by word count. For someone who just started, a 500 word article can be chared for about $5.00. An established ghostwriter can charge up to $30 for a 500 word article.

Your client gives you the topic and any key words that must be included in the article. How long it takes to write the article is dependent upon how much you already know about the topic and how quickly you can find the materials you need to research the topic. It is possible, working at a steady pace, to write ten 400-500 word articles in one day. That's $100 at $5 per article.

When we talk about the place to find clients for free, the best places to start are forums on internet marketing. Both Digital Point and The Warrior Forum have threads where people offer their services for sale. You can post an offer at no cost on Digital Point but you have to have been a member and have 15 posts to your name in order to do so. Warrior Forum also requires that you have been a member for awhile and there is a fee to post a WSO. However, you can still earn money through these boards.

Join both of these groups. Scan the posts on the WSO thread and the Buy-Sell-Trade board at Digital Point. Offer your services to the people who are asking questions about the services currently offered, or who have said they've bought the service. Do this by the private message function on both boards, not by posting on the thread. Place ads on craigslist and usfreeads offering your service.

    Forum Posting
It has been shown that people don't want to post on forums unless there are already posts. New forum owners pay people to post comments, start threads, and respond to other threads in an effort to get some forum action going. As the forum grows, the level of posting increases until paid posts aren't necessary.

Forum topics have a huge variety. There's probably a forum for just about any subject. Usually a paid poster has to have at least some knowledge of the subject to post relevant comments. There can be a minimum word count for the posts. Posts of "I agree," "Me too," and "Thanks for the info," are too short and don't add anything to the discussion, so forum owners don't want to pay for them. Posting on forums doesn't pay a lot, perhaps as little as 10 posts for a dollar. Find the jobs on Internet marketing related websites like Digital Forum.

    Posting on blogs
You can be paid to post comments on blogs much the same way you can be paid to post on forums. Pretty much the same criteria applies, the posts can't be too short and have to be relevant to the subject matter.

You can search for offers of 5 posts for a dollar. If each post takes a minute you would have to work a little over 8 hours to make $100. Place ads on craigslist and usfreeads offering your service.

    Writing Articles for Pay
There are sites that pay for content. Most of the sites require you post your article first and wait for a buyer to come by to purchase your articles.

AssociatedContent buys the article from you. The pay is minimal from $3 to $5 per 500 word article. However there are occasions where Associated Content has paid up to $50 per article. The articles can be submitted on an exclusive basis, meaning they aren't and won't be posted anywhere else, or nonexclusive, which means you've used the article elsewhere.

It takes a day or two for Associated Content to review the article and make the offer. You are not required to accept the offer and can withdraw the article. It takes another two days for the article to be published and then two or three days for Associated Content to make the payment to you. Place ads on craigslist and usfreeads offering your service.

    Websites that pay for articles:

    Yahoo Voices - voices.yahoo.com
    http://constant-content.com
Content Solutions, Online Publisher, Writers Network | Helium Inc.
Tips | Life Advice | Life Improvement
How To Do Things » How To Articles & How To Videos
Free Book Reviews | Book Summaries | Shvoong - Summaries & Reviews
    http://articlewarehouse.com
Author Connection | Scalable Authorship Solutions

There are a number of sites you can post articles, tips, or essays to. You get paid a share of the earnings of the ads that show up with your article. The more popular your article, the more views, the more revenue you can earn.

Sites that share ad revenue with writers:
Flixya - Share Videos, Photos, Blogs
    daytipper.com
    Questions & Answers | ChaCha
Metacafe - Online Video Entertainment - Free video clips for your enjoyment

Pay Per Sale, Affiliate Programs, and Commissions
You're simply selling someone else's product through your marketing efforts, whether it's a blog or website, and you receive a sales commission when the sale is completed.

Most of these products are informational, either an ecourse, software, or ebook. Quite a few of the affiliate products pay more than a 50% commission. The smart product owners offer banners, buttons, sales copy, and even articles that you can use to promote with.

Clickbank is one of the most established programs. Commission Junction is another source. Both of these make the payments to the affiliates so you don't have to worry whether the product owner will pay. PayDotCom is a program which uses PayPal as the payment method. The product owner makes the decision to pay the affiliates and has to authorize PayDotCom to do so.

Many products offer their own affiliate program independently. Look for one with a solid history of payment.

You can also become an affiliate of amazon.com to sell books and consumer products such as jewelry, televisions, whatever. The percentage commission is much lower, but sometimes the retail price is high enough to make up for it.

The fastest way to make money selling affiliate products is to think about the forums, lists and discussion groups you already belong to. What are the questions being asked? Is there a problem that people need a solution for? What are the hot topics?

Set up an affiliate account at clickbank. Go to their marketplace and search for products that will solve the problems, or are the answer to the questions being discussed.

Set up a blog or squidoo pages that relate to the affiliate programs.

Post a informative response and include your affiliate product in your response. A softer sell is to post a review of the product on your blog and then post a response to the list/discussion forum stating that you've reviewed the product and they can find out more on your blog. You can also set up a squidoo page and refer people to your squidoo page. You will probably need to make 3 to 4 sales to earn $100 in commissions.

    Create Your Own Product
This is the way you can make real money on the Internet. The question is: Can you do it in 24 hours? It would be very difficult to research a niche or market, decide what need is hottest and that you have the knowledge for, write the report, write the ad copy or sales letter, set up a blog/website/squidoo page and then market the report. In the real world in real time, it's not feasible.

What you can do while you're working on the other ways to make $100 in 24 hours is jot down ideas you have that would the basis for a product. Then when you have the time you can start developing the product.

You can develop a short report, 2500 words or so, a long report, 2500 to 5000 words, or an ebook, 7500 words and up. You could also develop an ecourse that's a combination of emails, an ebook, chats, and perhaps conference calls.

Get Paid to --- Take Surveys, Receive Offers, Read Email
First rule don't pay someone to find out information about the "Get Paid To" companies. There are too many sites which falsely represent that you will be paid cash for taking surveys, referring visitors, or accepting offers. Some of these offers require a credit card. You sign up for a free month of XYZ movies, get paid $15 for accepting the offer and provide your credit card number. If you don't cancel the offer your credit will be billed, and you can't cancel immediately, or you won't be paid. Usually you have to reach a minimum level of earnings to receive a check or deposit to your Paypal account. And the minimum level is nearly impossible to earn. Some of the surveys can be completed quickly and some take an hour or so to complete.

Most of the money is made through referring other people. It will be a huge challenge to earn $100 in 24 hours, so there aren't any resources listed in this report.

    Blog Your Way to Bucks
Blogging is a website (don't worry no website skills needed) that you update every day with posts about your chosen subject. Visitors can comment on your posts for others to see.

Using your blog as a billboard:
There are several websites who will pay you to post product reviews on your website. They are paid by the company who owns the products. The products can range from consumer durable goods, consumable goods, or just about anything you can think of. The blog has to be approved by the company and has to remain up for a specified length of time. There usually has to be a qualifying statement that your post is a paid advertisement.

Using your blog as a review site:
Another way to use your blog is to post product reviews of affiliate products. When someone buys the product you're paid a commission. You can post reviews of books you've read that are available on amazon.com and link to the books as an affiliate.

    Ads on your blog:
If your blog has somewhat of a following in a certain niche and gets a reasonable amount of traffic, you can use pay per click (PPC) ads to generate some revenue. The more traffic to your blog, the higher the potential for click throughs, the more money you can earn. AdSense by Google is a very popular PPC company but there are others.

You can also use a blog to sell products as an affiliate.

LiveJournal: Discover global communities of friends who share your unique passions and interests., http://Blogger.com, and WordPress.com - Get a Free Blog Here are just a few of the free sites where you can quickly and easily set up your blog.

Pick a market niche you're familiar with as the topic for your blog. Every day post on your blog. Of course that's not all you need to do. You have to get people to your blog to read it and hopefully click on your paid ads, or on the products you're promoting as an affiliate.

Most of the blog sites are searchable by keywords. Search on the same words you've used for your site to find other blogs. Then leave a comment on the relevant blogs and include your link to your own blog.

You can submit your blog's url to search engines so if someone wants information on 'how to raise guppies' and that's the subject of your blog, your blog shows up for visitors to find.

With a little bit of research and time you can become successful and increase your bank account with Online Marketing just by blogging.

Submitting Links to Articles, Websites and Blogs to Social Networking Sites.
You can submit links to other people's articles, etc. to the social networking sites. The pay isn't terrific, usually no more than a couple of dollars per article. You'll have to set up an account at each site. Below is a list to get you started. With a bit of research you can find quite a few more. Offer the service on Digital Point the same as you would offer to ghost write articles. Setting up the accounts at the social networking sites will probably take a couple of hours. If each article takes 20 minutes to post at all the social networking sites andyou charge $4 for the service. You'd earn $12 an hour and would have to work a little over 10 hours to earn $100.

You need your client to tell you the url of the article/website, title, brief description or first paragraph of the article, category, and tags or keywords.

$100 a day, over the long term
The above suggestions really can earn you $100 in a 24 hour period if you work at it. The ways below take a little bit of time to get set up and get going but can earn you $100 a day in the long term. When appropriate put ads on craigslist and usfreeads about your product or service you're offering.

    Squidoo Lenses
Think of squidoo as a place where you can get a free one page - but it can be a very long one page – website. When setting up a squidoo lens, you first need to do some research on key words. Trust me this is important.

So think about your squidoo lens and come up with 4 or 5 key word phrases. Pop them in Google and see what competition you're up against. You can also go to Google's adword keyword generator, https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal, Use the tab keyword variations, enter your key words and then hit the "get more key words" tab underneath. Pick out eight to ten key word phrases, these will be your tags.

Now go to Squidoo : Welcome to Squidoo and get yourself a lens using your key word phrase as the name of the lens. Set up your bio in your bio module and link to your product or website in that module. Now write a 250 to 500 word essay using your key word phrase at least three times. The essay should be relevant to your product or niche. In the essay link to your product, affiliate product and/or to your website. You might want to use a teaser phrase to encourage people to click on the link.

Add a poll and an amazon module, then add another text module with links to your other products or affiliate products. Add a google news feed module. Then another text module and finally end with a guestbook. This may sound complicated but all the modules are clearly explained and it's really a matter of point and click to populate your lens with interesting products.

You can earn money from your lens through the different modules and their products, such as books from amazon.com, from products that you're an affiliate for and from your own products. You can put up a lens for each one of your key word phrases and then link them together.

    AdSense
Google through their Adsense program, offers paid advertising through the use of text linked ads placed on websites. These ads can also be placed on blogs. Advertisers hope to subvert visitors to click on the text ad and visit their own websites through these text linked ads. The advertisers pay Google for every visitor that clicks through. Google passes on some of the money to the owner of the websites where the click originated. This is know as PPC or pay per click. Savvy Internet marketers build websites on topics that have a high PPC with the sole purpose of earning money.

Some of these sites known as MFA or Made For AdSense contain little or no redeeming content. The website's owner's intent is to place high in the search engines for a niche key word phrase. Say "Natural Cures for Whatever." People have a tendency to only look at the first page of results when searching. They click on the "Natural Cures for Whatever" site. When they arrive there is little information, so in an effort to leave the site quickly, they click on one of the text linked ads to navigate away.

A better philosophy is to make the site content rich to attract visitors and establish a level of trust. The visitor feels comfortable and when they've found the information they needed they are more likely to click on one of the text based ads.

How much money can you earn with AdSense? It depends on the topic of your website, your key word usage and your traffic. People look for all sorts of information on the Internet. Quite a bit of the time they're looking for a solution to a problem or how-to-do something. If your website addresses those issues, the odds are it will make more money than a generic site.

You have to have a website already up and running before you apply for AdSense. They are accepting blogs for AdSense revenue as well. Once you get one blog or website approved you can add the AdSense to your other sites/blogs without additional approval.

Once you're approved you have your choice of style and size of ad. You don't have to do any of the coding. You do have to know how to incorporate the code on your website or blog. It's not difficult. You can track how much money you're making nearly in real time.

    Use Forums and Discussion Groups
You can join forums and discussion groups that relate to your website/blog/squidoo page. Search discussion group sites like http://yahoogroups.com and http://groups.google.com for groups that are relevant. You can also search for discussion groups by subject matter. Type in the search engines +discussion +groups +mothers +young +children, for example.

Another alternative is to find websites that relate to your website that have forums. There's a huge forum for writers at AbsoluteWrite.com, for example. Many online publications on your topic will have forums as well.

Join these discussion groups. In your profile make sure you keep your signature short and sweet but do include a one sentence description of your site/blog/squidoo lens and a link.

When questions come up, or the conversation focuses on your topic, you can post a short answer and then mention there is an article or suggestion that would be helpful to the members at your site and give the link. Of course don't spam the members or just post one or two word answers, like "thank you" or "I agree" just to post.

    Social Networking Sites
Keep in mind the word networking is a verb, and that means action. Go to Myspace and set up a profile that reflects the product/website/affiliate product you want to sell. Keep the profile fun and interesting. You can also use the blog at Myspace to update your profile. You can add photos, videos from YouTube, and games. Then search for friends using your key words to find people interested in your product. Say you have a golf product, search for golfers. If you have a recipe book, search for people who like to cook. You can also join the forums at Myspace and look for friends that way.

The advantage of having friends is that you can then send bulletins to your friends that will automatically be posted at their Myspace profile and seen by all their friends. If you have 100 friends and they each have 100 friends, one of your bulletins can potentially be seen by 10,000 people.

Ryze is social networking that leans a little more toward business. Again set up your profile with your links, then look for groups to join. The groups should be relevant to your website or products. Most groups have active discussions going on. Answer questions, ask questions and contribute to the discussion. There are lots of other social networking sites you can join. Every day spend a few minutes visiting each of your site's network.

    Niche Marketing
Niche marketing is a buzz word and it simply means marketing to a small niche rather than a broad market. For example: Your blog is about cures for sinus headaches, that's very broad. A narrower niche would be natural cures for sinus headaches and an even narrower niche is natural herbal cures for sinus headaches. The logic is that there are fewer blogs/websites competing for the very narrow niche than the much broader topic. There will be fewer people searching for natural herbal cures for sinus headaches but more of them will be ready to buy a product or click on an AdSense ad.

    BUM Marketing
Bum marketing is simply using articles you've written to drive traffic to a blog/website/squidoo page you've set up that sells an affiliate product, or your own product. . The article is submitted to article directories and includes a bio box that has a little bit about you and the link to your blog/website/squidoo page.

The tricks to BUM Markeing are very simple.
    1. Use keywords in the title of your article and in the article itself so people searching for those keywords will find your article on the major search engines.
    2. Make the article informative and interesting, but leave the readers wanting more.
    3. Include a teaser in your bio box that entices the reader to click on the link to your website/blog.
    4. Write enough articles using those keywords.

How much is enough? A rule of thumb is one article per day for the first month.

How To Do Things » How To Articles & How To Videos
Free Book Reviews | Book Summaries | Shvoong - Summaries & Reviews
    ArticleWarehouse.com
Author Connection | Scalable Authorship Solutions

There are a number of sites you can post articles, tips, or essays to. You get paid a share of the earnings of the ads that show up with your article. The more popular your article, the more views, the more revenue you can earn.

Sites that share ad revenue with writers:

Think of squidoo as a place where you can get a free one page - but it can be a very long one page - website.

    WILL!

Hey bro I have been there man! DON'T GIVE UP!

I remember when I first started, I actually got a CREDIT CARD just to buy all these junk products that these Gurus are promoting!

( Long story short, I was Burned & in DEBT! )

The FIRST thing YOU need to do, is just STOP and breathe.

The World around you is still spinning, and you CAN do this. If I can do it, I know that you can too!

You can't be afraid of Failure...

"Failure" is the name of the ROAD that leads to SUCCESS!

Don't think of it as Failing.... think of it as getting another chance to SUCCEED!

Internet Marketing is EASY, You just have to focus your SITES!

Imagine playing "Call of Duty" without aiming...

you can't POSSIBLY expect to win that way.

You MUST set a game-plan and stick to it!

UNSUBSCRIBE from all the Guru's in your inbox trying to sell the NEXT best product.

    I remember doing the same...

In order to make money online, you have to get out of the BUYERS mode and get into the SELLERS mode.

There are many ways to make money online.... just choose ONE and stick with it!

    Tune out the NON-SENSE.

Put NO extra steps in between you and your GOAL!

    EXAMPLE:

    Website Method =
    Domain > Hosting > Website > Traffic > Product > Conversions > Make Money

( that is a total of SEVEN walls (steps) in your way! )

This is just TOO MANY for a beginner!

Remove the unnecessary Walls and Persist!

    Best Beginners Way=
    Product > Traffic > Conversions

    Now THIS is more doable!

I wish I could explain all of this in one post but it would simply take too long.

    But Remember:

"He who thinks he can, & He who thinks he can't are usually both RIGHT"

The problem is, you chose paths with a very high failure rate. PPC - high failure rate because it's real hard to make your money back. Everything has to be perfect. Typically, there is either too much competition in affiliate marketing, or it's hard to get enough targeted traffic to make much money even if you can get ranked.

Converting YouTube videos, as you said, is not easy.

You didn't mention the easiest way to make money, which is AdSense blogging. I think you have spent too much time listening to the wrong Internet marketers. Selling products is hard. Look at how many people like you come here, talking about their failures. We see it every day.

AdSense is the way to go. And it's free, so there's your low cost that you were talking about. No problem. You just need some hosting and a WordPress blog. And WordPress is free, so your only expense is hosting. ZERO advertising expenses. That is what I spend, and I make more than 100 times what you said you were looking for.

As far as niche, there is plenty of info in my past posts on what niche to blog about. It's all there.

P.S. I am the only person in this thread GUARANTEED that is going to give you a profitable and doable niche with content sources. Or you could just listen to people tell you that you're the problem - you're the one doing something wrong. Internet marketers are really good at that - blaming the newbie when they are the ones who failed to give you actionable marketing plans.

A couple of EASY ways to make money online:

    - Launch your own product (or WSO) and talk about something which makes people's lives easier.

    - If you are into SEO, start as a consultant, email a few companies or people, help them out for FREE initially to get a testimonial/good review and then use those testimonials to leverage your services to other people.

    - Find work on websites like freelancer.com

    Hope that helps

We ALL feel your pain....and have felt the same way at times...When I got started I had NO IDEA what a journey this would be - like a virtual roller coaster of pain and pleasure (making no money, some money, to more than I could imagine at once). It took hours and hours of working hard. My BIG JUMP was when I found someone online I could trust who Coached me to STOP learning and start producing what I knew and helping others.

As has been stated here previously, you ALREADY know more about the internet that most of the general public. We sometimes think that everyone knows more than we do when you come into this forum, but we all gravitate towards certain types of traffic online and soon find out what we are best at...if you make your NEST there...you will never work again. You will certainly work long hours once you figure out what works best for you, but you will LOVE it and never look back. Wouldn't you rather work for yourself than forge other's dreams?

We have all been where you are and I have never regretted the money spent on education and WSOs and shiny objects. It is likened to a college degree where you spend your first two years on the "core" subjects and then hone in on your "major" when you figure out what best suits YOUR particular interests and talents (outsource the rest to others).

Some of our biggest mistakes are thinking that we have to know it all and do it ALL, while most of us DON'T want to do all the techie details, copyrighting, blogging, creating, etc.

Pick out what WORKED for you and stay there for a couple of months and do what many of us did (work a full-time or part-time job to pay the bills until you figure it out).

The long post above gives you quite a bit meat to chew on.

Remember, OFFLINE marketing is the fastest way to make money when you have the confidence to rank a website or a video (or even to enter a local business in local directories). Also, you can outsource mobile websites to local business owners and make a small fortune.

All of this requires dealing with your own FEAR (our biggest enemy that lurks in our brain saying "you can't, you won't, it will never" which is a downright LIE), because you have already proven (even small successes COUNT), that you CAN, you WILL, and you will evermore succeed if you DON'T GIVE UP!

We have at our fingertips the greatest opportunity known to man - leveraging the WORLD online - to speak and create content that the entire WORLD has access to...how many people do you know that can say that and actually believe it?

You, My friend, are one of those, and as stated previously, I believe in YOU Too.

When I heard those words from someone else who was a bit farther down the path than I, I began to believe it too.

Ask yourself this, "How bad do I want this?" Then, go do it. Your thoughts and your mind are a powerful force given to us by The Creator. Go get it. You can do this.

You have MORE skills and abilities that you REALIZE. Figure it out. You can do this!

Pay it forward a year from now...and help someone else along.

You can do it. You CAN. You Must. There is a reason why you reached out.

Time to stop learning and start producing. All the best my Friend - Kristie

It is hard making it online. When i started out in affiliate marketing I built two websites and concentrated on health products. After getting the sites ranking, one started doing really well, whilst the other didn't. The one that done well was a herbal adhd supplement for children. The other was a general multivitamin supplement.

It all came down to the keywords, with the adhd site they were more product specific and buyer keywords, whilst the other site was more generic terms and therefore wasn't converting.

The key is to find a niche product that is HOT and then concentrate on this. Stick with it and don't give up. Once you have once site bringing in passive income you start on your next site. When you have 10, 20 30 or even 50 sites bringing in regular passive income. You'll see why it was worth sticking it out!

There's a big lesson right there. Your friend bought because they trusted you. Go out and make plenty of friends on a list/Facebook page and suggest excellent products while providing excellent info.

Making friends with a Facebook page is easy and with great posts you can build trust fast. Same thing with a email newsletter.

Alternatively, go the SEO route (risky, but can pay off big) and publish quality websites. You can certainly drive traffic in many ways, not just SEO.

I admit it's not easy. It took me some time to start generating sales, but once you do, keep doing what's working.

If you are looking to make money on a regular basis choose something you love because it will take time and energy. I have not had success with affiliate programs but service and product sales have worked for me.

I suggest you look at something totally different like FBA with Amazon or writing for companies like iwriter, etc. They are not totally passive options, but they are ways to see money regularly and then work on your IM affiliate products on the side.

    Just a thought,

I was always told to just FOCUS (Focus On one Course Until Successful) you have to stick to one thing and at least give it a chance to work before moving on to the next shine object. Self development is a key to success.

Alfred is absolutely right. You have to focus on one course, or one type of approach or one methodology until you achieve your goal. That doesn't mean that you can't implement different ideas and tips along the way. But, as a number of members mentioned, and I've experienced it myself, there is often too much temptation to jump from one approach to another. Stick-ability is what it is all about.

Often the hardest part about being able to stick at one course of action is self doubt and lack of confidence in the project itself. Will it work? Am I wasting my time? etc. etc. This is why a lot of newbies benefit from a step-by-step course of action and you would have found that in the 30 day challenge if it is the challenge that I am thinking of.

Plus another step-by-step approach, which I think is fantastic, can be found on Spencer Haw's blog: Niche Pursuits. If you look at his Niche Site Projects and then click on the 2nd project, you will find a whole series of week-by-week posts and videos documenting his public coaching of a "student". I think you will find it very encouraging, especially when you look at the growth in traffic and income that has been achieved so far.

If like you said in your post, that you are able to rank websites and the traffic is just not converting then just build a product review site and rank for the product name. You will find your conversions will go way way up!
