How to check domain on spam before buying

Hi fellow warriors!

I want to buy a domain, not for a huge amount of money (around $200), but I still would like to know if this investment will not vanish by seeing that the domain has tons of linkspam and other black-hat stuff after I bought it.

From what I know the domain is fairly new, registered for the first time in the beginning of 2012 and has changed owners around 3 times until now. The current owner has a webshop on it, but this webshop is far from finished and includes only 1 product and a couple of category pages without any content on it.

I have taken the steps below to get some information, I would love it of you guys would now ways to get more information.

Google site: query
When using the query site:domain.com I can see that one page (homepage) is indexed by Google. The category or product pages are not indexed.

Wayback Machine (Internet Archive: Wayback Machine)
I have checked the domain name in the wayback machine to see which sites have been hosted on the domain. It can only find a past date on the 17th of august when the current owner already had his half finished site on it. So this seems ok, maybe the previous owners never hosted a website on it.

Open site explorer
The domain is not listed in open site explorer. What this tells me is that the domain has no linkspam, if it would have 20.000 links from Russian networks I should have seen these right?

Webmaster Tools
I have added the domain to my webmastertools to see if it has messages about unnatural links or other nasty things. I can't find anything bad in webmastertools, but in a lot of sections webmastertools says that there is no information available. I guess this means that the previous owners never had webmaster tools enabled? Otherwise I could see historical data right?

Contact previous owners
I am currently in the process of contacting previous owners of the domain to ask if they have done or know anything suspicious.

For me this is about all I can do to minimize the chance that it is a bad domain, if you guys have any ideas how I can get more information I am happy to hear it.

Thanks in advance!
