What traffic is worth more?

I co own a forum, however this is my first time doing this so I have very little experience when it comes to the traffic side.

The site gets a good amount of page views for being 2 months old: 20k+ pageviews, 80% US traffic, 35% bounce. What my questions is, is recurring traffic better in an advertisers eyes than unique traffic?

Obviously with unique, you will get many more different people coming and look at your ads, however with recurring you know that the traffic is really good quality and there is a sense of trust with those users. They know about the site, spend lots of time on it, and are familiar with it. With the unique traffic, they might stay for a couple of minutes and then leave.

It varies depending on the type of website. With a forum, it can be good and bad to have both types of traffic. With unique they may sign up if they like the look of the forum and you can monetize to them down the line, and recurring traffic can be good because of trust but they will eventually begin to get used to ads and ignore them.

Are you currently selling ad space or want to test it?

It's going to depend on the niche, the ad, the product, etc.

Both is great. For forums the best thing is the growing number of active users.

I also agree with the general consensus - unique traffic who see's the advertising for the first time is probably the most valuable asset to advertisers.

hmm ok. It is a business/entrepreneur website Novum Dives Forums

What about for sponsors? Do you think unique traffic still? The sponsors can interact with the users, and they get to know the community much better than just a plain old advertiser.
