Refund Rates with Clickbank - How to Check Them?

Hi all,

Is there an easy way to check refund rates for products on clickbank. I can't seem to find ones that seem accurate.

I have tried CBengine and they don't seem accurate. For instance; I sell my own product through clickbank and the refund rate it has for that is way off, yet I started selling an affiliate product a few months ago and everything was fine for the first couple of months, but now I look at the refund rates in my own clickbank reporting for this product and for last month it was about 21% of my sales, yet CBengine has them at being a really low refund rate, and I can't believe I am the only one getting a high refund rate.

Anway, what is the most reliable way to get an accurate assessment of a clickbank products refund rate.

Many Thanks

How would anyone know the refund rate unless you knew the vendor was only selling one product and at one price with the account?

Thanks romesaranto, I know CBtrends but didn't know they listed anything to do with refunds. I will take a look.

Trader54, I am not 100% sure what you mean. Can you clarify things a bit.

As far as I am aware even if you have one account and you sell lots of products from it, as far as I am aware you need to have different ID's for each product, so in my case my first product might have been joecool, then the second one joecool1, then the third joecool2, etc etc. Therefore it would be possible to monitor which ones was getting which refunds. The price of the product is irrelevant - in the context that I am talking - about, a refund is a refund.

I think this is the case anyway.

I am fairly sure it is possible to monitor the refunds, because I am fairly sure clickbank must have stats's somewhere about refunds so that they can monitor peoples products to see if they are getting excessive refunds. The problem is I don't think clickbank release these figures; hence, why I was just checking if I was right with that, or whether there is an accurate resource online.

      Anyone else got any thoughts?

Thats exactly what I mean. If the vendor has multiple products at different prices with the same account, upsells, down sells, etc. how can you figure out the refund rate.

You can look at the $/sale earned on CB - refunds are reflected in that figure. If the product has a $26 Commission but the $/sale earned is $13, then it has a 50 percent refund rate.

What if the account sells more then one product?

Or the vendor sells it at different prices?

A rough (and I mean rough) guide is take the sale price. Take the clickbank commission off. Work out the commission you'd should get. Compare that the the $/sale earned. You can then work out the commission.

That's how I work the figure out on my site (see sig) but as Harvey, Steven and others say, it's impossible to work out with any accuracy.

Refund rates can be confusing. Someone once told me to try cbengine but I found that a lot of the products I looked up didn't have refund information. I do usually try to get a better idea by looking at the $/sale and the original commission rate. But, Trader54 is correct. Some people will sell the same product for say 21/14/7 depending on whether or not they try to leave the page. I don't really like that tactic but some vendors will use it and that will lower the $/sale even if there are no refunds.

It took trial and error on my part but I finally found some products with low refund rates.

Trader54 is correct on this one... Simple answer, you can't.

UNLESS, they sell ONE product at ONE price point via their account. And there's not much chance you'll know that info for sure.

Typical CB refund rates anywhere between 4%-10%.

Anything 5% or below is really good.

21% refund rate?? Do these high refund rates really exist? I have dropped products for generating 7-10% refund rate.

Okay, let me clarify, it was 21% for one month, on average it has probably been about 8-12% over the period of about 4 months I have been selling this product. So it was misleading of me to not make that clear - sorry. I was just surprised by this high refund rate for the last month, nothing has changed in the way I am marketing this product. I think I will put it down to a bad month and monitor it.

Anyway, a big thanks to everyone for clarifying things - basically there is no solid 100% way. So thanks. And thanks Trader54, I should have paid more attention the first time you said it, sometimes it takes clarification from a few different people before it sinks into my thick skull.

I agree with trader.. 21% it s a really high refund rate.. maybe you should ask yourself what is generating that high refund rate..
