Do you always use Amazon's Canadian site when buying things from there or do you use Amazon USA? It makes sense that you would use Amazon Canada if a product is in stock, but if not do you buy from the USA site?

I'm thinking about getting rid of geo-location tracking to see what happens, but would like a bit of input before I do. Plus, I don't think that it offers users a good experience when I send them to an empty page - i.e. Amazon Ca doesn't stock the item).

I have used Amazon.com a few times in a lot of years. Mostly it isn't possible. They have a notice when I'm logged in that 'this item cannot be shipped to your address,' or something like that.

And yes, the item I want often won't be available from the .ca store, so that's another problem.

Andy Henry had an interesting silver blog with separate sections for the US and for Great Britain. Each of them went to their respective Amazon products. The geo targeting plug in seems to be popular. It gets mentioned around here often so some people must be making extra money from it. (I don't use wordpress so I'm not one of them.)

The problem with Amazon.ca is that they have barely any physical products other than books. That's a huge problem IMO but it's probably because they cannot source the products here in Canada and have the price lower to make it worthwhile for Canadians to purchase online.
