Any VPS Recommendations??

I've been using PowerVPS for about 3 years now. We had one outage that lasted about a day (other users were down longer) but otherwise it's been up and running fine. After that outage I checked out LiquidWeb, but my sites ran slower so it didn't make sense to switch.

VPS Hosting from PowerVPS. Choose from cPanel or Plesk, all powered by the Cloud.

Xen = EuroVPS, LiquidWeb, Site5, SolarVPS, etc.
Virtuzzo = Futurehosting, Knownhost, WiredTree, Media Temple, etc.
OpenVZ = Stablehost, MDD Hosting, etc.

I use scrapebox vps lol don't think that will help you.

I also use bzybhosting. Kieth is really helpful and I love the cloud vps, I have not went down once in two years.

I have heard good things about Rose hosting. Their prices are cheap, and all the research I have did on them always comes up good.

  I'm going along with several other responses you've received and suggest Wiredtree hosting. Fully managed, great support, full root access. After using two other hosts with pretty poor results I've been very satisfied with Wiredtree. Been with them for a little over 6 years now.

With that budget you can get quite a generous VPS From a reputable host.

For the more expensives ones:
- Host Dime: This is the one we're currently using. Fairly consistent though not the best
- MDD Hosting: We used this in the past, it was EXCELLENT. super fast servers, not over sold 1 gbps ports

Some other to consider:
- Wire Tree: Probably one of the best and highly acclaim. They are known as well for caring about CURRENT customers (free upgrades and increase disk space...the upgrade all current customers to SSD or something like that)

Most host only offer promotions to new clients

Many of these hosts offer coupons and promotions for new clients.

VeeroTech is a company owned by a warrior with some excellent feedback so far so give that a look as well. The warrior name is Kingfish58 and he has quite a good rep on the forum

Really enjoy searching out these web hosts and their offers for our own hosting needs so I hope to create a thread shortly sorting out VPS, Cloud hosting and dedicated hosting

I would recommend using only Xen, KVM or VMware. We're currently provisioning all virtual servers with KVM & will be implementing VMware within the next year in addition to KVM for production customer vm's.

OpenVZ isn't a true Virtual Machine - it's container based using the host kernel. It's also widely oversold & unstable. Also, don't fall into the "burst" memory etc... It's not what most think it is.

What are you planning to use the VPS for? Knowing what the server is going to be used for, I can give you some better recommendations as well as an ideal configuration..

I forget you even know you offered VPS plans.

What is your projected growth over say the next year in the number of sites? Based on that, I might not even recommend a VPS - more so a good quality shared host.

All you really need is a quality shared (reseller account) host.
Veerotech is one, and he's helping you here.
As are Stablehost, MDD Hosting, Site5, Namecheap and a few others.

A VPS would likely be more of a burden (financially and time-wise).

  OpenVZ is an outdated method.
  I'd rather use a host with KVM, Xen, VMware or Hyper-V.

If all you need to host are a handful of low-traffic sites, then you definitely don't need a VPS for that. A shared server at a decent host should be more than sufficient.

When you're ready to upgrade to a VPS though, then you'd be hard-pressed to do better than WiredTree. I've been with them for almost 4 years now, and my experience with them has been nothing short of excellent the entire time.

  We use Webfaction and A2host for dozens of sites. Great speed from each along with great support.
  
  Webfaction is not exactly a VPS, but it gives you equivalent power without the headaches. A2host has both shared and VPS available. Shared should be adequate for most needs.

LiquidWeb storm on demand VPS for me. Basic plan (fully managed with cPanel) $60 per month.
Storm on demand gives you the option to scale up during anticipated high traffic periods such as leading up to and during a product launch and then scale back down.

I have VPS at half a dozen providers (not to mention other reseller accounts and cloud hosting as I get millions of visitors) but the one I trusted more is Knownhost. However there are other excellent ones, WiredTree does have a good reputation so I can confirm what others are writing.

As mentioned, WiredTree is a decent provider however, from what you describe about the sites you're looking to host, I wouldn't recommend at VPS at all.

I just started using KnownHost.

$30 or so a month for the pack one up from entry level included a 15% lifetime discount which basically means I get CPanel and Softaculous for free.

Support have been very fast & helpful in migrating stuff over for me.

I don't want to mention any names (because things may have changed and because it would be unfair to single out one host for a practice that other hosts may be doing), but if you sign up to a VPS provider and they then send you a copy of your password via email, cancel your account immediately, for that's an inexcusably shocking reflection on them.

How do you expect to log in the first time? This is industry standard and the password should be changed anyway. :rolleyes:

They use the password they already registered with over an SSL connection.

They don't need the password sent via cleartext to their email inbox.

In most cases the passwords people would set are not secure enough, hence why it is randomly generated. It's a temp password, change it. If you don't change it, that's not the providers fault.

I understand where you're coming from however, we tried this some time back and it caused all sorts of problems with deploying virtual servers. The reason being, 5 out of 8 people would forget the password they set, then blow up the help desk with tickets saying their VPS was inaccessible.

While "our" initial account emails include a temp password, we strongly advise, in big bold text to change it after the first log in. The likely hood of having a password sniffed from a random email is much lower than a user choosing a bad password and having it brute forced.
