How Do I drive traffic to my new blog?

Hello everyone,

I am new to IM. I have recently launched my first blog.

Its in the Anxiety, Agoraphobia & OCD Solution Niche.

I have tried SEO. I have had a campaign running for over a month. This campaign included everything (I mean all those press release, article marketing, video creation, blog commenting, forum marketing stuff as they say). I bought this service on warriorforum. I got over 250 PR4-9 backlinks from someone else pointing to my site.

But all of this is not helping in any SERP movement or traffic. The total number of visitors I get in a day is 5-6.

I find advertising very scary be it adwords or facebook.

So How should I drive some targeted visitors to my site? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

If you choose to tackle SEO for traffic, it would make sense to track down your main competitors and find out what they are doing.

Pop their URL into Open Site Explorer, look at their links, try and get some of the same yourself, etc. Go to Spyfu.com and reverse engineer their sites there as well.

Find out what your competition is doing, and do it better.

If they have Adwords campaigns running, you should too, most likely.

But you need to find out who your competition is first and what they are up to before putting a plan together.

Study their sites, their links, and anything else you can and be better.

    1. Go to facebook and run ads using promoted posts and then link it to your blog

2.Write great content on your blog

3.Find 10 blogs and guest post for them monthly

Do this and within 30-60 days you should start seeing daily visitors

I use blog commenting, forum commenting and some social media. As long as you are consistent with the methods and keep doing them everyday, you will begin to see some traffic.

I want to get into guest posting soon, but haven't had the time to do that yet. Pick a method and give it at least 30-60 days, you will eventually see the traffic.

So Blog commenting work! I have found one such service. Before buying any new service, I just wanted to make sure that its worth doing. I was about to begin forum posting too. Will go for it now. Thanks

The SEO road is a long-term commitment. Try to build up your authority, getting natural (and spontaneous) links back to your site is the best thing in terms of "organic SEO".

Where are you blog and forum marketing? Are these comments high quality (e.g. relevant, detailed, informative and sensible) or are they one line or two line spam comments?

I've managed to use blog commenting quite effectively, the trick is partially timing (the earlier the better) as well as putting quality comments that other people find value in.

Personally, I would be very wary in outsourcing blog and comment marketing, especially if it's low cost, because of the simple fact that a few misplaced comments can really make your website look bad (or get banned).

That being said, I can see how it would have merit for you, since you don't seem to be a native english speaker.

All I'd say is, ensure that comments are only posted on relevant and appropriate forums and blogs, and make sure that they are interesting and informative.

Youtube. Commit to make 1-2 videos weekly, where you tell people how to fight against anxiety, agoraphobia etc. Optimize them for popular keywords so they show up in Google searches (a video can be ranked much faster than text content).

Make sure you put a link to your website in every video description, as well as in the video itself.

Don't you think Google may find it odd that so many high PR sites are linking to your brand new blog no one knows about? there are only about 150 PR9 sites in the world.

But all of this is not helping in any SERP movement or traffic. The total number of visitors I get in a day is 5-6.
I'd be very wary of the "SEO" services you pay for, especially anyone selling those sorts of backlink packages.

I find advertising very scary be it adwords or facebook.
Well this is a business, I'd rather a business I control, rather than one that's reliant on Googles search traffic. Especially when Google doesn't seem to like people paying for links.

Finally, if the SEO route is the only option for you, good luck and you'll probably be better asking this in the SEO part of the forum.

Thank you for this info. I will try to get into advertising too. I too have begun to realize that SEO is good for nothing. One full month of link building got me nowhere. I had to spend money on SEO anyways ,I could have rather spent it on advertising.

        Yes, I agree.

I learned that the hard way myself. Just avoid the "250 very high PR links" packages. SEO is a very different game to what it was. Good luck though, you have a nice site and you are taking action. Well done.

    What are your keywords?

For getting in SEO on a new blog you need to begin by targeting very long tail keywords.
Don't worry that they don't get many searches - you are looking to build a foundation so you get eventually rank for larger keywords.

Write some good articles for these, get them ranked and you can start to build a solid foundation.

Try to track down other agoraphobia or related blogs and forums and begin networking.

Nice modern design - what theme did you use?

Yes, I am doing keyword research. I am quite sure I chose the wrong keywords for SEO. I chose all the research keywords which has high search volume. That's so stupid of me, I was competing with wikepedia site for being on first page. Thank you for suggesting.

And I used a free wordpress responsive theme by theme Alley. Its available in Wordpess featured theme.

A lot depends on the keywords you've chosen and how competitive they are as well as whether or not you've purchased the right types of SEO packages.

I would work on following the advice here to help solve people's problems in places like forums and Yahoo answers where you're likely to being dealing with real people. Indirectly, you'll improve your SEO anyway.

I chose very competitive research keywords, my bad. And my SEO people have just spammed my link everywhere. I checked them in the report they gave. The blog comments are not readable, videos they created won't play. I could have done that myself using SENuke instead of paying them.

I will try something new this time. Yes, I too believe helping people on forums would help. Thanks for suggesting "yahoo answers" too. I never thought of that.

I think it's very simple for you to get some traffic into your own blog. The first thing that you need to do for your blog is on-site optimization. The second thing is all about off site optimization, which are composed of doing backlinks from forum signatures, blog comments, social media sharing, etc.

As you can see, SEO isn't going to work for you. At least not until your blog has grown substantially. If I was you I would stay away from SEO from the time being.

If you're scared of advertising then maybe you should try out free methods. There are so so many free ways of getting traffic.

    Social media marketing
    Forums
    Blogging
    Video marketing
    Email marketing
    SEO
    Article marketing
    Web 2.0
    Solo ads
    PPC
    Media buying

The point is that there are endless amounts of ways to get traffic to your site, however that doesn't mean you should try focus on 20 methods at once. Instead, pick a few methods and stick with them.

If I was you, I'd go with social media, video, forums, and build a list. I'd also so a small bit of SEO. The most I would do is search engine optimize my posts, don't bother building links. Your blog is only new and has a slim chance of getting in the search engines.

Instead, give Google what they want. Don't just write the usual 500 word articles and publish them. Only publish AMAZING content. This is what will make you stand out from the competition. You'll build an audience WAY quicker this way, and you'll have more chance of getting ranked in the search engines.

From my results, five 500 word article did not get me half as much traffic as one 2000+ word article. It's about quality, not quantity. Forget about trying to publish as much content as possible and start thinking about publishing the best content possible.

Another I recommend you to do is build a list from day one. The most important thing you need to worry about with your list is building a strong relationship with your subscribers, and NEVER spamming them, or sending worthless content, etc. Send your subscribers the best of the best content. Gain their trust and they'll buy from you over and over again.

If you need any more help, just ask. I'd be glad to help.

Thank You so much Adam. Well! I started my blog to build a list. Now, to build a list I need good traffic. Getting some traffic is the problem now. Yes, I was scared of advertising, but now I think its better to begin advertising as I will anyways pay for good content, forum posting and so many things. Why not start advertising and get some targeted traffic. I just don't know anything about advertising. I have heard Facebook ads are cheap if you do them correctly. If you could suggest some ebooks or anything which can help run a successful campaign, that would be very helpful.

      Adam,

You bring up a very good point that I have not seen anyone suggest anywhere: Stay away from SEO if you're new.

I have a new site that I am cutting my teeth on. Been around a bout a month.

-Worked on speed; gtmetrix.yslow has it at 90/80 - not too bad

-Posted about 10 articles so far

Starting to work on comment posting, guest blogging, etc. But your point gives me pause.

At what point would you seriously dive into SEO?

I looked at your blog, it has good content but lacks intuitiveness and authority.
Intuitiveness - All topics listed in a page where I can then click and comment or click & read and come back and read another article
Authority - I have to read a lot of text very carefully to get some suggestions that i can try, try making some 'call to actions / suggestions' clearer...you have to remember that real people with this problem will come to this blog why? to find answers...

    Here's my two cents.
If your leery of ads and you don't have much content(or it's growing) why don't you try finding some low cost advertising like an adswap. It'll get you into advertising and you can work on tweaking your stuff with only a few visitors before you start shelling out more money.

The other thing on the swap is it looks like your endorsed by the other blogger. You'll most likely only get this with other very small blogs, but you'd be surprised how many ones with decent rankings are really cool with helping the little guys. Just make sure that you help them out as well.

Traffic will follow with all the other things these people have been mentioning. You just gotta start with one or two and keep it up. Like most of these strategies though, you're committing to something for a long time. think of this in several months or longer.

A few great sources that I recommended are:

    1) Video Marketing
    2) Forum Posting
    3) SEO
    4) PPC

Though, if I were in your position, I myself would lean more towards PPC advertising (via Facebook) only because you have the ability to - as i like to say - "laser target" your audience, however, all in all, the methods of which you are currently using should work wonders for your site as long as you hire the right people to get the job done. :s

    Hope this helps :-),

Search engines love Blogs because they are updated regularly. If you write good quality posts in a blog, you are likely to get traffic automatically. The more content you post, the chances of getting visitors increases. Stable backlinking through different available ways, also some social media sharing can also help.

You are not alone when it comes to where to find traffic.

Thing is you are looking for a certain kind of traffic. Traffic means people so why not go looking for where people with Anxiety, Agoraphobia & OCD hang out.

Who are your competitors? Are you on their lists?

If there are forums catering for this niche then go there, make contributions, see what you can help with, offer something helpful and start from there.

You may not get hoards of people coming to you but you will at least be dealing with people who actually need your help.

      I hope this helps.

I would suggest you to work on simple methods like blog commenting & forum commenting.

There are plenty of SEO packages here, and the package you chose which includes so many promotional methods sounds like mass fiverr outsourcing to me. I would go for service that is more focused, and with great reviews.

With stuff like SEO, you probably won't get a second chance if Google penalize your site. So approach SEO services with care.

Take use of Forums, Pintrest, Squidoo, Hub-pages, Wiki Sites & Article Directories - they have good traffic.

No, you got 250 PR0 backlinks on sites that (may) have a PR4-9 homepage. There's a difference....a very very VERY big difference, despite what some clueless SEO sellers claim.
