Help me understand Facebook ads

Hi guys, I have started to promote my facebook page with ads, I have created and launched 2 campaigns yesterday, each for 5$

The results made me think, what influences Facebook ad reach? My ad, lets tag it 'A', gathered 50 likes(+6 viral, so 56 in total), the other ad, 'B' gathered only 18 likes. Obviously, one would think, that ad 'A' is a winner here, as I got 0.1$ for 1 like which is awesome I think, ad 'B' performed much worse, averaging like 0.28$ for 1 like. The interesting fact is, that ad 'B' actually had a better CTR rate, 0.742%, versus 0.670% of ad 'A'. Which makes me wonder, why the heck ad A reached 5.7k people, while the better performing ad(CTR wise) reached only 2k people?

How do they calculate how much audience your ad should reach? Because I always thought that the better CTR of your ad, the more people you will reach, but this example proved me totally wrong.

I'm pasting stats to help oyu udnerstand this wall of text:
Reach Freq Clicks CTR CPM Likes Avg. CPL
'A' 5.737 1,8 69 0.670% 0,49$ 50 0,10 $

'B' 2.021 1,5 22 0.742% 1,69$ 18 0,28 $

Now the difference between these two ads is Image and country targeting, as ad B targets US/Ca/UK/AUS/NZ/+some 1tier european countries, ad A targets US/CA only. THe ads were run 19:00-23:00 pacific time, which of course makes it much better time for people in US see it. Should I use ad 'B' today just change the country targeting to get the reach I need? Because the CTR is a little bit better on B.

Any other advises? I really want to reach at least 0.05$/page like before pushing the gas pedal here.

Your ad reach is determined by the targeting you set when creating the campaign.

So, if I target less people my ad will reach more? Because the ad that reached 5.7k people, had 680k people targeted, the ad that reached 2k people had 780k people targeted.

Ok, I realized that I looked into CTR, but obviously CPM will determine how much your ad will reach for a determined price set. The funny thing is that I had much better CPM with only US/CA targeted traffic. Ok, this is complicated ;D This probably means that my ad that gathered only 18 likes is probably better than the one that borught me 50 likes, I just need to change the location targeting. Will test it tonight
