Posting Affiliate links or not..

Hey Warriors,
Here's a quick question for you.

Is it against the rules to post affiliate links or not?
Within posts, threads or in the signature?

If the affiliate link is a free offer & you don't need to subscribe to a list. Would that be okay or not? (You get the offer instantly, with a push of a button basically.)

Regards,

Yes; it is. In posts and in signatures. Even for free offers. You can perhaps imagine, in a forum with over 600,000 members, what the effect would rapidly be, if that were allowed.

      Thanks for a quick answer
Yes, I do understand. Since it was a free offer without signing up to a list etc, I just thought that it Could have been different. Thanks anyways

But you can have your link in your signature... create a presell page for an affiliate offer, or a squeeze page to collect mails before... this should be OK

Sure - that's certainly allowed (in signature-files, not in posts). There's nothing wrong with linking to a page of your own - with or without an opt-in - which contains affiliate links.

But as far as I understand, specifically mentioning your sig link is prohibited. It is intended as a passive display, not an explicit promotion.

Absolutely. More than one would-be promoter has found the word "Banned" under their name for promoting their signature, regardless of what's in it.

Actually, you can create a landing page for the product you want to promote, and include the affiliate link within that page. Once it is finished, your landing page's link can be promoted in your forum signature.
