This is question that everyone who thinks that Internet marketing will turn their financial life around asks! There is not one, but many! Each gives you another piece of the puzzle. Some put it all together and make money, some get frustrated or get too technically challenged to continue. So far, I must have read about 50 ebooks/courses that have forwarded me with some type of nugget and read about the same amount of blogs that have forwarded me. I have watched tv news programs that have helped, have read magazines that have helped, and listened to interviews that have helped. And that is my point, it comes from everywhere! My two cents!

Yeah I would defo agree with this, no one book is going to give you all the answers by a long shot! But you get little gems form many sources and usually from each book you read that will help to advance your skills. I quite liked 'the laptop millionaire' by Mark Anastasi. It gives a general over view of several different techniques but lacks the real detail to implement properly. It can be good to help point you in the right direction and defo good for beginners to gain an insight into IM. As for resources in general, Pat Flynn's Smart Passive Income blog is great and his podcasts are really helpful.

I also agree with the guy who said about books that help your mindset (sorry bro, didn't take a note of your name before I started writing..). IM can be tough at times so these books can also really help. The books that I have read that I found useful for this are; the slight edge, think and grow rich, the science of getting rich, unlimited power. Success magazine by Darren Hardy is also definitely worth subscribing to

I have to agree with Steve on The Laptop Millionaire. What's nice about his book is how he covers many of the hot areas of Internet Marketing and goes on to share case studies of individuals who have found success with it. (Although the plans aren't the most detailed, you can take the plans laid out in the case studies and use Warrior Forum to help develop your own twists).

After reading it, it should at the very least help you focus on those areas of IM that resonate best with you as there are many paths to choose.

I would say, the best books are the ones that, teach you how to develop a strong mindset. Yes, they are not IM books, but they are the keys to being successful. Books, techniques , failures will come around, it's all about how we think and motivate ourselves to not give up.

Books such as: Think and grow rich and books by Anthony Robbins

IM/Business is all about having a strong mindset and moving past our obstacles...

One of my favourite books was one called F.U. Money by Dan Lok, that I received from him as a gift at a seminar. Really changed my life and got me into online marketing. Also, Frank Kern put out a book one time, he was basically sending it to people for free... I forget the name of it, but it was awesome!

For me its always getting info from multiple sources. I would never recommend any book. In Internet marketing world things get outdated within few months and if you want to learn basic info then there is more than enough info available for free online.

@China Newz - That all depends on what you are actually trying to do within the IM space. Buying a book on blogging is going to be of no benefit if you want to go into coaching (and so on).

One of my favorite books is "Internet Marketing Sins (An Open Letter to All Internet Marketers)" by Sylvie Fortin. Google the title and you'll find the link. It's free, no opt-in required.

    Adrian

P.S. It's not a very new book. Anyone who didn't read it yet? Do it NOW!

In my opinion, the best books on copywriting were written decades ago (search for the mega ultra awesome WF thread titled "Top Copywriting Books... Ever"), and the best books on everything else -- well, I've come to prefer the following approach:

      • Get a good RSS feed reader and subscribe to blogs, forums, etc. (I even lurk on the more unsavory forums to keep a broad perspective).
      • Read, do, do, do, read, do, do, do, ... (diving right in and learning as I go along has been a good procrastination-killer for me).

I would suggest you to read the books by Fred Gleeck - you get most of them free on his website: Information Marketing Business eBooks and then move on to other books he wrote.

How to write and Sell Simple Information products: Amazon.comAmazon.com

The Personal MBA: Amazon.comAmazon.com (this is great for business in general)

and finally, the 4 Hour Work Week. (but you probably know this)

Cashvertising is a good book, think its on amazon. Its more to do with the psychology behind selling to people. Interesting read, and is certainly a good foundation to build upon.

After all, I think the key to IM success is to get inside the mind of the prospect, and understand what they really want. If you dont give people what they are hungry for, you won't make many sales of anything no matter how good it is.

I watch a lot of videos as well on youtube...I've never been much of a book person, grown up with too much TV and internet lol

"Make Money While You Sleep" by Brett McFall for the basics.

But as mentioned previously - motivation and mindset is what you need first. 80% of the success in any business is the psychology.

The biggest frustration is that I have read hundreds of them, and most of them are missing big pieces or only give you indepth in one or two areas.

You are probably looking for a system that you will need a coaching course for.

Marlon Sanders has his dashboards that actually give you step by step instructions and are very affordable--they have very little missing from them. The best I have found.

PM me if you want to know which one to start with.

Exactly. In addition, don't read too many IM books. You will get the paralysis of analysis syndrome. A lot of it is rehashed only good for land fill recycling. Many IM techniques are just come and go fads. Don't chase them or try to keep abreast.
They will just cloud and hinder your progress. Stick to one venture at a time.
The main core IM marketing concepts have been the same throughout the literature based on tried& tested common sense marketing techniques such as:
      • offer quality in product,
      • use word of mouth, reciprocal methods, introductory methods,
      • trade shows, fairs etc offline/online to generate visitor awareness to your website
      • build customer base - get their details in the most less intrusive way
      • keep good contact with customer base,
      • make their visit to your site easily clear and navigable: "here is what i got; here is what it does for you; here is how to get it fast;"
      • leave out all jingle bells & whistles on your site, as visitors will disappear in confused state from your site in literally useconds.
      • make sure you have a clear, transparent About Us + Contact Us Page with Tel#
      • make their ordering process completely easy and hassle free
      • offer different ordering options - depending on product - physical or digital
      • enable constant communication with them every step of order process
      • then automate that order process once refined
      • insert promotion to back-end offer@discount with every order
      • offer free things and promotions from time-to-time
      • if you mess up order(s) act quickly to remedy and offer incentivised discount on next order as a way of apology because "Customer is King"
      • stand by your guarantee
      • remedy problems asap at start, as more costly if done later on down the line
      • use online and offline methods
      • don't automate processes way beyond your means as you will not be able to manage them and you will end up losing customers
      • if you growth, then by all means delegate the outsourcing relevant parts of your business
      • *never* let 3rd parties run the core of your business - outsource only repetitive periphery processes - or a special promotion paraphernalia
      • *never* rely totally on one supplier - you will be at their mercy
      • therefore search out a short list of preferred suppliers
      • use spreadsheets to log key processes etc
      • keep things to the keep it simple (stupid) methods
      • don't be afraid to use old school methods, such as normal mail/airmail if need be
      • Finally just get going and develop as you go along
And yes, very much so check out the old school veteran of IM, the Marlon Sanders, highly recommended.
Great starting mentorship. You will not go far wrong with him.

Myself and my husband wrote "The Lazy Website Syndrome" this year.
It is available in Amazon. There we share our online marketing experience for the last 13 years. What works, what does not especially after all the recent Google changes.
    PM for discount copy.
    All the best.
