Curating single posts from other blogs

Fellow Warriors,

On my blog, I'm curating my blog posts from several articles I find on the same subject. So for example, one post curated from three other articles. It's not copy/pasting, but backing up my own articles with sources from other books/websites.

Would it be an addition to curate single posts from other blogs on my blog? Kind of like a blogroll but then with a personal touch, with my own opinion on it?

If you think, YES! do it! Where would you show these posts? on the homepage for example?

Thanks in advance,
Tijs

I wish you good luck regarding your hosting company's policies with regard to DMCA site take-down notices, if you're routinely taking other people's content without their express permission.

There are a lot of copyright breaches on the web, in the name of "curation".

They're often perpetrated by people whose primary educational resources on the subject have been "forum chat" and "sales/promotional representations" rather than informed legal advice, and eventually that bites a lot of people in the ankle (or higher).

      Hi Alexa,

Thanks for your reply! I'm not copy/pasting from other articles. I merely use them to back up my own posts. So you could call it using sources too: the articles are 100% original.

Now for the plan of curating blog posts: I heard of curation in the sense of 'showing other people on the web what's out there', and building more posts by linking to other blogs. Kind of like a blogroll, but then with a personal touch to it.

That's what I mean with curation.

So my question is: would the blogroll idea with a personal touch add to the website or not?

Rather than just run a blogroll, I'd make individual posts of my own related to the single post you're referencing, then do a pingback to notify the blog owner of your post. This would also serve to place a link to your post in their comments if they are set up to allow it.

I've seen whole conversations, spread across several blogs, created this way, to the benefit of all participating.
