Hey Guys,

Does anybody REALLY know how the whole
duplicate content thing works?

Here's what happened:

I have a post on one of my blogs that was on the first
page of Google for a particular keyword

I took that post and put it up on Hub pages hoping
to get 2 Front page listings

Within 30 minutes the Hub page is now on the first page
and my blog post is nowhere to be found

Should I change the content on thr Hub page?

Change the content on my blog?

any suggestions?

Jack

From what I have found you can keep using the same post over and over but you do have to change atleast 40% of that post. I am actually surprized you got it to submit on hubpages with out rewriting the post in the first place. Hub pages is one of the hardest to drop in duplicate files to them.

    Hey,

I agree, Hubpages is picky as heck with duplicate content. My experience and what I have read numerous places, submit to Hubpages first and manually. You would want to build a larger hub for better exceptance from the moderators. Wait for the content to get excepted and then roll it out to the rest of your distribution channels.

EZine Articles is like that, needs to really be original.

    Happy Saturday :-)

I've also heard that Google sometimes has a temporary indexing whereas afterwards, the shuffling is done, your once top SERP may drop off. Don't know if that's true, but something to think about.

I also spoke with others to say duplicate content is over-rated because there are so many articles out there and if a genuine article is written, then someone picks it up to publish on their site, it wouldn't be fair to penalize either for such actions.
