No I'm not talking about a new mouth wash or a new flavor of Orbit gum but what I am talking about is that for the past week I have been unsubscribing from all the email lists that I am on. It's amazing the amount of spam you get after signing up on someone's email list.

    Thats totally true, and I do this everyday if i get 1 email I dont like, I unsubscribe instantly.

    Funny you say this i recently did this too and cleaned up my inbox. Crazy not getting emails by the minute!

    Now i have an extra email that i subscribe with and dont really care about it. maybe take a look every other week.

      I was getting over a 100 emails a day and some spammers were sending 4-5 each day thinking I was going to click on one of their links and buy something :confused:

    Or...you could intentionally sign up for their email list, have those emails directed to a free email account, and then carefully study and deconstruct everything from the nature and content of their mailings to the timing, etc. Like them or not, some mailing lists have email series that have been tested and tested and then tested again. I can't recall the post, but someone once said that the real money online is tapping into systems, deconstructing them, truly understanding them, and then replicating them.

      Great idea. I do study and deconstruct these emails and realize how amateurish they are and unprofessional they are. Most of these emails come from people who buy a course on here or elsewhere and think by putting a catchy title or headline will magically make you click their links. I have learned one thing from all these emails: "I now know how not to build an email list"

      I once done this by accident, about a year ago I set up a new email account and used it to subscribe to the mailing list of one of the top IM guru's. I totally forgot about this email account then one day I found it again and I saw every email this one person had sent to his list over a whole year.

      Lets just say, it was a VERY interesting perspective.

      99% of the email lists people are on aren't doing anything worth studying.

          Lol the money is in the list. Do you unsubscribe from everything or are there people you want to be subscribed too. For me I have my peeps I keep.

          As far as the money is in the list it is with the proper email marketing.
          Anyways I usually make about 10 sales per 1,000 emails names I send an offer too. Not as good as the old days but it shows the money is in the list. I also only get about 2 unsubscribes per 1000 emails i blast too which I consider good also.

          the people here are asking about unsubscribe, this thread isn't viral so alot of people don't unsubscribe but they don't sign up to every Tom Dick and Harry list either.

          Lmao I ddin't see there post. Like I said I make 10 sales per thousand, what is that, yep 1 percent. but to get to that one percent you have to market to 100 percent. Same with peoples email programs, to find the one percent you have to watch 100 percent or you know what I mean.

    I sign up for everything, I want to see what others use and what they have but after a week or so then it gets over whelming so if you are signed into your gmail account and go here

    it will list all the lists you are on and let you unsubscribe in one click, then I start over again for the next week. Works like a charm.

    One suggestion, don't delete anything in your box for a couple of days or it won't find it.

    There is a great lesson here. Email marketing and list building is changing folks. People are giving fake email addresses, or using things like spam.4me as mentioned above. You will find in the next few years that cell phone opt ins will be the norm. It's already happening.

    I've been doing this as well. I usually find that some will still continue to spam you even after you have removed yourself from the list. This is why I usually have a separate email address when people want me to opt-in for something

    If they mail you afterwards then one of a few things is going on, they had a script that put you on more than one list. They use there own autoresponder.

    Look at the email header, click on view original email and see where the email header is from, aweber, one of those or a third party like mandrill.com then you know who to complain too about it and bet you come off all there lists really quick.

    Every month or so I tend to look through my email folders and filter out subscription that don't benefit me and just send me spam. After subscribing to a lot of lists, you do tend to get a lot of spam and usually you don't notice it until you actually start looking inside the emails. It's a good idea to keep your subscription in a separate folder from your other mail.

      I know what you mean. Can you believe that when I first was introduced to IM a little over 3 years ago I actually thought that someone was actually sitting at their computer typing and sending out their emails one at a time :rolleyes:

      Yea you are right. I'm also deleting all the WSO's I have purchased and the free one's as well because 99.99% of them are rehashed junk that doesn't work. Only a small few actually were worth my time and money.

    Some people don't respect your choices. They make you type your email address, then click here and click there, but in the end you still remain subscribed, or you still receive their messages after some time of silence.

    Once I was attacked here at the WF because I said that I send many annoying messages to the spam folder. After this discussion I tried to unsubscribe, but I discovered that I couldn't unsubscribe from the list of a quite known internet marketer who was using Aweber. Four weeks after my message to Aweber denouncing this marketer, Aweber changed their unsubscribing system in a weekend. Now you don't have to click on ‘unsubscribe’ twice to unsubscribe from an email list like in the past.

    The internet marketers who use their own autoresponder cannot be controlled.

    I wouldn't say unsubscribe from all email list, that doesn't make sense, imagine everyone unsubscribing from your email list (i presume you have one) would that make you happy?

      There's a few that I didn't unsubscribe from, very few.
      I don't nor have I ever had an email list. I do offline marketing as well as affiliate marketing and have never tried building a list and marketing to that list. The main reason for not doing so is because all my clients, myself and everyone I talk too are tired of being spammed by newbie marketers and scammers. I'm sure there are those who do well with email lists but I never have taken the time to do it.

    That's why instead of hitting unsubscribe button (and still at the mercy of others), I create disposable email addresses associated with my yahoo primary email address. All emails to those disposable ones will show up at the inbox of my primary email address. If any disposable email address attracts lots of spam, I will then delete it. After deletion, I'm off their schemes and means.
