Webinars for non-IM infoproducts

So webinars can be a great tool, and I wouldn't think twice about using them to promote an IM service or tool (even a non-IM one). If you're offering a service or tool, you can give lots of value to viewers (i.e. show them how to do something manually) but also sell them (your software can do it automatically for $xxx).

For info products, I feel like I have to choose between giving lots of value and then them not needing my product or limiting what I'm giving them and having a webinar that's not providing great value. At the same time I feel like I'm probably missing a very simple idea...

So my question is: do you use webinars to promote info products? If so, how do you provide lots of free content/value without "giving away" your whole product?

  • The old saying that the more you tell, the more you sell applies here.

Many experts use the guideline of giving away a lot of general information and keeping the specific how-tos for the infoproduct.

Another approach is to have the promotional webinar be a Q&A session in which there would inevitably be no systematic explanations - but participants would still get their questions answered.
