Best internet phone service

9 replies
I am looking to setup an account with an internet phone service to make B2B calls in both the United States and Canada. Skype looks to be the best service for this, they have rates at only about $5/month for unlimited calls (subject to a 2 hour maximum or else the call will be disconnected)

In terms of B2B calls, is Skype the best phone service? Any more issues or problems I should be aware of

Thank you

    I don't think you'll be able to beat Skype to be honest.

    Also consider getting Microsoft Office 365.

    It comes with 60 free minutes of skype use (international) per month.

    No.. I'm not a Microsoft representative.

    Just a fanboy.

    Also, would Skype ban my account for violating their Fair Use Policy for using the number for continual business phone calls, or do they not care/not monitor it?

    Their policy does say it is not allowed in

    (i) Using subscriptions for telemarketing or call centre operations;

    So does that mean I would not be allowed if thats my intent? What other call services allow telemarketing?

    skype is by far the most flexible and cost effective option. however, if you
    will be using it has a telemarketing line then that is a whole different animal.
    you may want to check out google voice or magic jack. I do not know the
    specifics on google or MJ though.

    If you want a truly free service that gives great results, then google voice is it. You can even download their app onto your smartphone & make calls. The downside is that the recipient of your call must also have google voice if you want the calls to be free. All in all it will come down to which service is the most cost effective & best suits your needs. Research will be necessary. Regarding the most popular options, those would be Skype & Magicjack. Hope everything works out for you buddy.

    We have used Ooma for several years. You buy the device up front (around $200 now), but then calls are free after that.
