Any thoughts on Traffic Exchanges??

Hey yall,

I have just started looking in to Traffic Exchanges and Im thinking about joining one.

Before I do though I figured I would get some "real" advice about them.

Has anyone had any luck using them? If so....can ya recommend a good one?

Thanks in Advance!

Terri

If you are doing SEO, stay out of it. Just my 2 cents.

Hi Terri, traffic exchanges can be very good for people who are intending to use them to build an opted-in email list of traffic exchange users with the intention of subsequently promoting something targeted specifically at traffic exchange users.

In all the threads here about TE's, hundreds of people comment that they're "useless" and "untargeted traffic". At the same time, some people are making five-figure monthly incomes from that traffic (and I don't mean their owners!). That's because the first group of people have tried to use traffic exchange traffic for a purpose other than the one stated in the paragraph above. That doesn't work, of course. Typically, they call it "untargeted", not quite having worked out that the problem was that what they were doing wasn't specifically targeted at that traffic.

Like so many other issues in internet marketing, it's all about relevance (targeting).

If you're a violin-seller, there's not much point in setting up a stall in a fish-market and then complaining that the traffic there is "untargeted". Some people instinctively see this straight away. Others, it seems (including many who regularly post disparaging comments here in "traffic exchange threads") haven't quite worked it out.

        These might help you ...

Traffic exchanges are old school and don't work. Everyone using traffic exchanges has the same goal -- to get traffic. They aren't in buying mode at all. They are a waste of time. If you're doing SEO, focus on techniques that actually work like forum and blog commenting and such.

      Exactly so.

That can make them an absolutely ideal, perfectly targeted audience if you're building a list by giving away a free e-book called "3 Ways To Get Traffic That You've Never Heard Of" and then using the list to promote the product you're selling, which is called "And 5 Even More Brilliant Ways To Get Traffic That Nobody Else Has Ever Heard Of Either". Traffic exchanges can be a goldmine for that kind of business.

It depends what you use them for. They're not a waste of time to people doing what I've mentioned above, Joey. But if you're not doing something pretty much like that, then yes: they're a waste of time for you. It's all about relevance.

Agree with you totally Alexa. Many marketers would think traffic exchanges or safelists would be waste of time, but if you learn how to harness this kind of traffic properly to your advantage, then they can be an excellent source of under-utilized traffic. You need to know what products to promote and how to do them. Once you get the hang, you have an excellent source of free or very cheap traffic (mostly newbies to whom you can promote cheaper IM products - WarriorPlus WSO offers may be great here).

Most of the WSO's have re-hashed content, but that is what we warriors think. For a total newbie, it can be a goldmine of information at cheap price to help him get started in IM.

The other day I was reading a thread where many people shared their success stories from using safelists. So, anyone making a generalized claim that such traffic is totally useless is being foolish.
