How would you market these pendants online?

Hello, a side-project of mine is producing pendants for men. They always get rave reviews but are a pretty niche item.

How would you go about marketing these pendants online?
Duncroft Masterworks - Pewter Pendants for Men

We have a mailing list, affiliate program, Twitter account, Facebook account, and a blog. We are interested in direct sales (no wholesale).

Our Google search rankings are quite good for anyone searching for our types of pendants. How would you recommend getting more traffic?

Thanks!

I would suggest social media marketing like pinterest and instagram. Let the images do the talking.

Have you considered marketing them on eBay?

It seems to me that eBay offers the type audience that likes to browse and purchase small trinket and jewelry type items.

In addition, it is easy to set up an eBay store if you have multiple items and you don't have to sell them at auction.

The most important thing about eBay is they have the traffic and you can target your offers.

      Good luck to you,

I've listed them individually on eBay but often they didn't get views. I stopped listing them because there didn't seem to be any payoff for the effort. Perhaps a store would be better but I want to be reasonable sure it's worth setting up. Do eBay stores sell better than individual listings? Are they more visible?

I was reading about eBay stores and people recommend that they are good if you have a lot of items (I don't). Also, items in eBay stores do not show up in the regular search results. So, then I'd basically be stuck driving traffic to my eBay store instead of my own store. Seems like a splitting of effort for no return.

A small point (and not answering your question!) is that I'd much rather see the pendants as soon as I land on your page, and not the testimonials. Much greater impact.

Hi Lynn, good call! There was too much text before the real meat of the page... the pendant pictures! I used to have it that way but for some reason decided I wanted to show people testimonials first. Perhaps to get them excited about the pendants that followed.

I tried Reddit today but they are extremely picky about anything the least bit commercial.

OK, I'll give those ones a try! I'm not a huge believer in social media yet. Thanks!

I know what you mean Marc - I feel the same way BUT ......... whether we believe in it or not is kind of irrelevant. If its identified as a sales tool that works for your market it must be worth considering. If you can't/won't do it yourself consider outsourcing. Just a thought.

I just haven't noted much of an ROI. Twitter seems like just a bunch of noise... people promoting stuff. The thing that works best for me is getting high Google rankings for the pendants. Also, I get visitors who find blog articles through Google and various other blogs.

The price makes the pendants seem cheap.
            Step 1 raise the price.
Step 2 with the higher price you can donate
a portion to a charity (like the fallen soldiers,
wounded warrior etc. ) and get more Free publicity.

Plus a higher price gives you a ton of JV
            opportunities.

            Sam

I thought the price was good and affordable for my target market of guys 20 - 30s. I would definitely like to help out charities. I'll think about a new price!

Does anyone else think the low price makes them look lower-quality? What do you guys think an attractive price is? How high is high enough to make them more attractive without pricing them out of the market? $39.95?

You for sure need a social media campaign. The product is pretty cool, images are good.

Try something like this so you can at least say that someone has your product on the social media space

    {How to get your handmade products in the hands of celebrities.}

One other thing I thought of was to try to use sites like Reddit to promote. Here are some recent notes I took from a book I read on using social media:

    g. Reddit
    i. Works differently than other sites but easy to get a bunch of traffic from.
ii. Don't need to have a following.
iii. It is a social bookmarking site. Broken into categories called sub-reddits
iv. Most popular Sub-Reddits across the top.
    v. Create an account at Reddit
vi. Comment on a couple of posts per day
vii. Wait several minutes between comments, and leave it for 48 hours.
viii. Find a sub reddit search for keyword.
ix. Make sure there are a lot of people subscribed, don't go to ones with too many followers.
    x. Use a title as the description, look at titles do well.
xi. Each time someone comments it gets posted to their profile, and draw a bunch of traffic.
xii. Tip is to use a different account and IP address for each submission. I think more than likely if you share multiple things you will probably be alright. Just don't strictly promote one site. Maybe I will test this and update here.

ebay. And make more pictures. Plus you can use the "units sold so far" from there are a proof on your webstie that those sell.

And remember on the Celebrity Promotions, who gives a $#&* if they are wearing it. It is social media worthy if they have one. If you can find a way to give one to them then they HAVE one and thus you have a social media tidbit worth sharing! In all honesty they don't even have to know they have one. Now, I still would explore actually sending one and being truthful rather than just saying that a celebrity has one (for some reason it just doesn't work the same way when you are bsing) even though nobody could prove it one way or the other.

Interesting approach. I would have thought they would need to be spotted wearing one!

PPC and then when someone buys put them on a separate list and then offer value and discounts on your new stuff.

We did this with feng shui products in oz, and I sold that biz in 2010 for a very nice sum. :-)

its sounds like you need a bigger database of customers, so use these tips to build a bigger list. Your niche is a good one I think so get more leads, and advertise in magazines and other major top playing sites in this niche, do a quick search on google, I even found some newsletters that I could see one of your ads do well.

    Just my 0.02 cents.

We already do well with organic search. The problem is that people aren't aware that these products exist, so they usually aren't searching for them.

What sites and newsletters do you think would be well-suited for an ad?

What other benefits can a pendant have besides looking good and making you feel good? Sadly, they are simple metal with no magical properties. They're really meant to be symbols of great warrior cultures. I'd love to do modern military ones someday.

Other than the strategies you have applied you can also try out:
Daily Deals sites like Groupon and Living Social, as you can make a lots of sales within a short period of time.
Shopify or Big Cartel are a complete ecommerce and hosting stage that permits you to set up your own shop, offering whatever you like without needing to endeavor to manufacture your own site or to use heaps of cash finishing this.
Email : In spite of the fact that email is a similarly old innovation inside the web world, it can even now be an incredible approach to raise cognizance of new items to existing and new clients.
