Cheap Quality Traffic for List Building?

Hey guys,

I'm looking for cheap quality traffic to build a email list. I have a budget of $50 to $100. I know I could use Solo Ads and that's probably the best route to go. But I'm interested if there's any sources of paid traffic where I can get more clicks and subscriptions for my buck. Thanks for the help.

  • When it comes to traffic, cheap is typically not going to be associated with quality. If you're looking to buy traffic you get what you pay for.

I firmly that the ability to trade dollars directly for quality traffic is a myth. Of course, you CAN convert dollars into traffic. But, that traffic is not quality - it will NOT convert to the sales you are looking for.

There is nothing magical about it. In order to get the quality traffic that does convert into sales, you need to trade money, and leverage your own time, expertise, and network for something that is of value to your customers. Then that VALUE can generate buzz and traffic for you.

      1) Create An ebook, video interview or some other information product are pretty standard. (But the more innovative, creative, and unique you can be, the more eyeballs you'll get.)

      2) Give it away for free on JV Giveaways or something like that.

      3) Write a press release about your newest awesome product that you are giving away for free.

      4) Set up a referral contest: refer-a-friend-widget-for-wp

      5) Utilize social media and tons of other marketing tricks...

Entrepreneurs who have physical or brick and mortar businesses are successful when they can target specific community markets. Identify the places where your customers are already congregating and conversing. That way, it is easier for them to talk to each other. Honestly, that's why I am here. I am addressing my market here on Warrior Forum because this is where people are already talking.

I am on WF for 3 reasons:
      1) Identify and understand the internet marketing niche.
      2) Listen to the needs of my market. What value is missing that I may be able to provide?
      3) Establish my expertise in the subject, inspire further conversation, grow my personal network.

Grow organically. Think of your customer first. Create value. Create a feedback loop. Test. Fail quickly. Pivot. and test again. You find success, and the numbers look good. Feedback is positive. NOW you scale up.

Entrepreneurship is the same online as it is in the real world. We just use different tools and mediums. Simply put, I believe that in order to make REAL money online or anywhere else you need to have a REAL business.

Facebook is an awesome platform for list building. It does take a little know how and you absolutley must TEST TEST TEST.

The best thing about facebook however is that your audience is very targeted and if you can get very cheap traffic if you keep internal to facebook, so take them to a fan page and build your lead capture page from there.

I love facebook and there are plenty of good courses explaining exactly how to get max benefit from it, reach out if you need more help, I could talk about this topic all day !!

    Good luck

You can't do that kind of targeting with any other other kind of PPC ads that I know of.

I'm currently running a half dozen right-side Facebook ads for my niche, linking directly to specific posts on my niche blog. I then have a lightbox opt-in box that pops up with an offer after 10 seconds. I'm getting a 1:3 opt-in ratio from that traffic, averaging about $2 per opt-in. I do about 1 product launch per month to that list, and last week made $4,000+ from it. So, I'd call it "successful".
Nice success rate - what kind of offers are you promoting? In the IM Niche?

I suggest that you do some guest blogging on blogs within the area that you are focusing on. You can get some great articles outsourced at odesk.com or elance.com. Then contact the owners of a few blogs (look for the contact info on the site). Send the high quality articles (don't forget to put a link back to your website at the bottom of the articles). Blog owners always need good content. Once they see how great your content is they will use your articles which will send targeted, high quality traffic back to your site. Best of all this would be free!! You can't beat that!

Cheapest traffic I've ever bought was from Adf.ly. Buy about 10k hits and send them to a high converting squeeze page.

I got about a 100 optins for a few bucks... but remember it's cheap traffic and most of the people on there are gamers, hackers and kids.

So while I built a list of 400+ rather quickly, I dont' remember making much if any money with them.

I've built quite a few "quick lists" in my day.

The best came when I found an inspirational video and uploaded it to youtube. It went viral. I then told them to download my free ebook. Built a list of 900 people in less than 30 days.

Sent out one email and made between $200 and $300. Ended up deleting that list though because it was not targeted at all and plus I was somewhat new at email marketing.

    Hope that helps.. :-)

For your budget you could try this:

Pick the top forums, websites to comment on and such that your target hangs out on.
buy a personal assistant with great english and have them put some comments and such on only these sites and only helpful comments and then send you the list of comments they made. I think you can get around 3 hours on fiverr. do that once a week and your at lots of useful comments with links back for your site.

also, check with your hosting company to see if you get any free advertising credit. I know you do with bluehost. you get some free adwords, yahoo, and facebook credit. use that free stuff up.

What Kind of method would you recommend Adf.ly traffic for? Is it possible to make money with this traffic? Maybe with CPA or Clickbank offers?

I strongly recommend sticking with solo ads for high quality traffic, and if you're concerned with breaking even you have to look at the sales funnel your using. You can also include CPA and PPL offers in you follow up sequence for that little extra bang for your buck. Once they're on the list even you don't have anything to send them you can send an assortment of different affiliate offers like JVzoo for example.

I absolutely agree that Solo Ads are the best way to go. But I really don't have the funds to do it. I can't take the chance of not breaking even. I'm being very conservative - but Solo Ads are certainly in my plans.

So you're looking for more free or very cheap...
safe list ( www.listjumper.com my personal favorite ) craigslist but they're not very responsive even though some say they've had success with it. Blogging, youtube, article and forum marketing.
Another trick is to work out a deal with a buddy to put your link in their follow up or exit pop traffic and you do the same for them.

List Jumper looks very interesting. How much success have you had with it?

I agree with you that cheap traffic definitely doesn't sustain a real business. But It could help jump start one.

It's hard to find cheap quality traffic, but there are some cheap (and effective) solo ad vendors at safe-swaps.com and you may also want to try free traffic sources. I have had some success through creating YouTube videos and including your link in the description. You may also want to check out safelists. Sometimes traffic exchanges can work too, but I've seen better results with safelists than traffic exchanges.

You could try posting in Facebook groups.
Safelists can bring a few sign ups, but it tends to be slow.
Why not create a signature for this forum with a link to your squeeze page?

If you can go into a niche where the average CPC is only around $0.10 a click.... then do that on Adwords and Bing Ads. This is very cheap - especially if you sell a product with high profit margins.

Who cares what traffic costs - as long as its profitable.

Facebook is the best place to get traffic for list building. You can target them and keep tweaking until you get what you want!

"The money is NOT in the size of the list." Quality trumps size.

Quality traffic is important. You can get $200 credit for Microsoft Adcenter at kevinlee.net. You have to buy one of his books to get it but the book is around $10. Then he'll send you the code.

You can get $200 worth of quality traffic from Bing and Yahoo with it.

    I hope this helps.

It is extremely difficult to get cheap AND quality traffic. To get high converting targeted traffic, you're going to have to pay a good amount for it. You should start considering driving traffic to your list through Facebook. You could set up a page for an incentive for them to opt in, and direct them to your opt in page. There you have free and usually decent quality traffic.

I use facebook ads and I think they are good because the traffic is very target.

But like oothers said it required some testing which also means you are going to spend some money in it.

And from my experience, solo ads work but you might end up spending a lot of money in it so be careful on which provider you choose, do more research before make your decision.

    Good luck.

The cheapest traffic you can have (not so responsive though) is by offering a free ebook in your resource box under your articles. You have to write many articles, then post them to your blog, and then submit them to ezinearticles.

This way you will build your email list in exchange for the free ebook and you will have many followers who will visit the pages you suggest, and may also purchase your products. You only have to pay for an autoresponder.

There is no such thing as cheap QUALITY traffic. You can get tons of targeted traffic by blog commenting and forum marketing. Don't waste time and get going on blog commenting.
