If Google allowed you to place a banner in the main page of Google dot com for one day, then how much are you willing to pay for that spot?

I would not be willing to pay for what they would charge even with a rotation banner. I would think it would be in the hundreds of thousands or higher.

If I was given that spot though you would be your stars I would stay up day and night to create something that appealed to the mass majority of people and had a great conversion.
I probably would not even charge for it, I would want all those emails.

Could my logo/brand be turned into an interactive pac-man game, or integrated into a showdown between a player and soccer goalie, or even a kayak-er wading through the treacherous currents of my logo? One thing is for sure, I bet I could get office goers to stare it down for a good 5 minutes + before either 1) they get bored and leave or 2) their boss walks in on them. The exposure would be priceless, though. Of course, that would run a little deeper than my pockets right now. (maybe if I weren't married...)

I would be prepared to pay them half the incremental increase in Adsense earnings for the day.

      Any kind of banner?

      Could I put a Google-shutting-down banner?

Then I could short the stock or something and maybe come out ahead.

I may be missing something here but how is this piece of information going to help you when there is zero chance of this ever happening?

People who run adware installs put their banners on Google every day. Autorefresh+ I think is one of them.

Google's homepage gets millions and millions of visitors every day. I would never be able to afford what they would charge for one. I'd imagine it would be in the hundreds of thousands, but it would be interesting to see how well it converted because people wouldn't be used to seeing an ad on Google.

Why even worry about it, by the time you were finished making your ad there TOS would change anyways and the price would of went up.

Think about it, when adsense came out I made a fortune, I bet we were getting close to 80 or 90 percent of the share and now I bet they pay 10 percent or less of the share, I mean when you see clicks that cost 2 bucks and you get 10 to 30 cents something is up with that.

Don't get me on my Google Rant and Rave the cowardly thieves.

Well, let's think about it. Google's home page gets roughly 1 billion unique visitors per month, which is approximately 33 million uniques per day. If 1% are likely to click the ad, and 3% of those who clicked are likely to convert, that's just under 10,000 sales for the day.

If I was selling a $20 product, then I could spend up to $200,000 to reach a break-even MER.

If they allowed a gif banner that was keyword specific and also I was allowed to see and define my targeting by different metrics then somewhere around 30 to 40 grand per month sounds reasonable just try out. If it has great ROI. I'd also like it to be able to be show across all cities and states. If that were the case then I'd HAPPILY pay them $120,000 per month for at least an introductory rate.

I remember when the top ad on Yahoo was $100,000 per week and you had to share the spot in a rotation with 5 other companies. My how times have changed.

Not a good value proposition. Hundreds of millions of untargeted viewers. The curious might click on it even if they have no interest, crashing your site or using up all your bandwidth in minutes. Not a good idea at all. That is what Adwords is for. Then you get TARGETED VISITORS.

They already do link to some very obscure sites through their Google Doodles. I have noticed a couple of times the smaller sites they link to being down because they couldn't handle the flow of traffic.

I'm pretty sure if I had a logo on the Google home page I would make $1,000,000 in a day.
