Clickbank: Do ebooks in non-im niches still sell?

Hey guys,

I haven't done much at all with Clickbank since a few years ago. I've done quite well for myself in SEO and affiliate marketing though, but constant algo changes means I am looking to diversify and learn new skills in the process.

I had an ebook on Clickbank for a short while a couple of years back. It didn't sell that much (5-10 of sales a month), but it was a lot of fun and just writing the salesletter and seeing people buy your stuff was really rewarding. Back then I didn't know nearly as much about anything IM related either.

So I was thinking about launching a product in a sub-niche of make money online, but not IM and not the typical stuff.

I have no doubt the demand is there for a no bs product at a reasonable price.

I am just wondering if ebooks still sell or if video, audio and membership sites have become the norm. Since this isn't IM, it probably isn't as saturated, but still, do people still think there is value in ebooks? I know I would buy an ebook, but I also see some people in this niche with paid for access sites or actual membership sites.

Let me hear your experience.

    Yes.

There's not much point in promoting ClickBank products in IM niches as an affiliate, anyway, because some proportion (sometimes a high proportion) of the potential customers for them are already ClickBank affiliates themselves, and even if you lead them to the sales page and they decide to buy, they're not going to buy it through your affiliate-link when they're allowed to buy it through their own, are they?!): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post2161932

If it's a sub-niche in which the targeted customers include a fair proportion of existing ClickBank affiliates, then very few (if any) serious, pro-affiliates may be willing to promote it, for the reason explained above. There'll be countless other affiliates who might promote it, of course, who haven't quite worked that out. But those do (perhaps understandably?) tend to be the 95% of the potential affiliates who, between them, bring in only 5% of the affiliate-referred sales.

So ClickBank may not necessarily be the ideal place for you to sell it, perhaps? If it's a sub-niche in which the targeted customers include a fair proportion of existing ClickBank affiliates.

Even if so, Jack, that doesn't mean that successful affiliates will be willing to promote it at ClickBank, where they're clearly going to lose a proportion of their sales, if it's a product in a sub-niche in which the targeted customers include a fair proportion of existing ClickBank affiliates.

In non-IM niches, my perception is that it's rather the opposite, if anything. Internet marketers are the people who like video, audio and membership sites. In all the niches in which I'm an affiliate, I'm very rarely willing to send any of my traffic to products that have anything to do with video or audio. My customers and subscribers - throughout my niches - hate it, and say so openly. I make my living there mostly by selling ebooks.

Heck ya! There are a lot of successful writers that sell their books on Amazon or one the Apple store. I'm actually (very slowly) writing a fictional book myself, with the intention of self publishing and selling it on Amazon and elsewhere.

Cool, thank you for the reply.

I am not really going to launch this as a 'Clickbank product', but I might as well put it up there to get some affiliate traffic. I already know where I'm going to promote it and who will buy it, so I really don't plan on depending on affiliates. I'll make some really nice marketing material for affiliates though and being a long time affiliate myself (of all kinds of physical and non-physical products), I think that I will do better than the average there.

It's also a bit of a learning experience for me to work on copywriting, coversion optimization, newsletters etc, but of course there is no data to work with if you can't sell an ebook!

Just be aware that 95%+ of the available "affiliate traffic" doesn't lead to any affiliate sales, and that there are reasons for that. If the product also has another, non-ClickBank sales page available, then probably no serious affiliate will promote it, anyway ...

Very wise, perhaps, in the circumstances.

You can. You have no problem at all on that score.

You should definitely avoid leaks for your affiliates. If you have multiple pages, hire a developer to make it so when someone coming in on a ClickBank link can ONLY go back to the click bank page, the other page will not appear for them, even if they go directly to it and vice versa. PM me if you want more details, I do this all the time because I work with all different kinds of unique tracking systems and networks, i've run into probably every tracking and attribution problem anyone has ever had!

All of the things JackPowers mentioned still works on Clickbank, and ebooks still sell well. I would suggest you use the ebook to help lead people to a Youtube channel, Facebook group and / or Skype group that way you can sell to them again in the future.

Plus, its a great way to have a group that you can test ideas on and ask questions about what type of products they would be willing to pay money for so that you are not wasting too much time with unfocused research for any future products that you would like to create.

I have never sold an IM related ebook. Let me repeat that, I have never sold an IM related ebook. But I do sell ebooks every day...

I don't like clickbank. Never did :-) even though I still promote some of those sales. I think JVZoo is awesome

now...don't under estimate affiliate traffic. If you had few affiliates with big lists promote your offer, the word will spread.

You see, I know Fat Loss 4 Idiots still makes lots of sales, because many affiliates promote that weight loss product. Which is basically a diet plan...nothing else.

So yes... ebooks still sell and I think in non IM niche, you just need to approach it so you build a list a long the way.

I find it a bit strange that someone whose sig offers an ebook for people to send to their email lists failed to mention email lists in his recommendation.

Yes, other niches are also very good. Internet marketing is not the only good one online, but it’s hard to recruit affiliates at Clickbank, especially if you are a new vendor.

Non Internet marketing/MMO online products sell very well on CB. I have several weird little niche products on there myself.

If it's IM related try JVzoo.

    Yes very much so.
Dating products is a particularly strong market on Clickbank.
I've sold software training programs through them also.

One of the first things I do when I hit a Clickbank page for a product that I really like is to scroll down to the bottom and hit affiliate link. Not so I can purchase the product through my own sales page. But so I can promote the product for myself and earn money. And, it's likely many other internet marketers do the same.

As for your own situation, if you had success before with Clickbank marketing products, then stick with it. Maybe you have some secret formula that works for you. Just keep doing that and you'll likely earn money even now. This could especially be true, if it's your own product and you are not just the affiliate promoting someone else's product.
