Where is the best position to put Amazon affiliate link on an article?

Hi,

I am working on a Amazon product review site and wondering which is the best position to place the link? Currently, I put the link in the product's image on the top of the content and a contextual link at the bottom. There are total of 2 links on a content page.

Should I place it in the middle of the content as contextual link? Does it looks spamy to Google?

    i normally link to Amazon 4 times in an article

    - About 2 from images
    - 1 from Something like "read more reviews here"
    - 1 from something like "click here to grab this at a x% discount"

      Who (apart from yourself, and ridiculous places with no approval process/editorial policies at all, which can't possibly have the targeted traffic you need to attract) is going to publish an article with an affiliate link in it?!

      I've been an article marketer (for my affiliate marketing business, as my full-time living) for almost 5 years, now, and it would never occur to me to put an affiliate-link in an article. Nor would I want to. That would be completely shooting myself in the high-heeled foot.

        Does Amazon have any editorial policy in including affiliate link in an article on individual blog? I too have been doing affiliate marketing (clickbank and adsense) for 5 years. And just starting out Amazon recently. I don't think putting the links on an article as contextual does violate any policy.

              I'll try once more, then, perhaps a little more clearly: I advise you not to put Amazon affiliate-links in articles, but to write articles about the niche, without mentioning any product(s), and that way you might be able to get the articles published where some of the already-targeted traffic you want to attract is already looking. Articles are not going to do you very much good just sitting on your own website waiting for some eventual search engine traffic to find them, are they? That's too slow and remote and haphazard, and in all my experience it's about the least responsive and productive sort of traffic you can ever hope to attract, as an Amazon affiliate. To make any real income from it, unless you're selling very high-priced products, you need high turnover because the available commissions are typically only about 8.5%.

              Article marketing can work brilliantly for an Amazon affiliate business, but not if you put affiliate-links in the articles, because that way you can't get them published in the places where you need to get them published. I wish you good luck - over and out from me.

          On the contrary: I was rather assuming that he isn't (he couldn't be, really, with affiliate links in them, could he?), and was therefore trying in my perhaps-too-oblique-this-time way to suggest that he might do better by trying that as well. That was why I mentioned to him that articles are not going to do him very much good just sitting on his own website waiting for some eventual search engine traffic to find them: that's pretty slow, remote and haphazard, and in my experience as an Amazon affiliate, that's also about the least responsive and productive sort of traffic one can ever hope to attract anyway.

          Nothing "wrong", per se, perhaps - it just limits their use so greatly that it's a real "missed opportunity" (of the kind one can scarcely afford with Amazon commissions being on the low side, I thought?).             No plan to syndicate my article. I do relevant post on blogs, forum and answer site that people talking about the product then I direct them to my blog with the review so to help them in purchase decision. Only starting a few posts on my site and blogs comment, and forums and I got nearly a hundred visitors mainly from united states.

    I don't get the advice of writing articles but not putting affiliate links in them to promote the products on Amazon. If there are no affiliate links in your article then you are guaranteed to make $0 on those articles so writing them would be a waste of time.

    On my Amazon affiliate websites I put a picture of the product and then the list price, amazon price and a link to Amazon. I use a free plugin to generate this information so that it meets Amazon TOS.

    Then I start the article. If I include a video I always include a text link underneath the video for them to buy now.

    At end of article I include some of the reviews - positive and negative - from Amazon. Below that i include a link to read my reviews that goes to the review page for the product.

    After end of article I include another text link to say click here to buy today from Amazon or click here for lowest price or check todays price on Amazon etc.

    With video I have 4 links and 3 without.

    You can take the article you wrote for your website and then publish it on ezinarticles or other ezine publishing sites. Remove the price and image that was created by the free plugin. Remove video and link underneath it. Remove the link at end of article. Create a writer block that will be shown at the bottom of every article and include a link back to your website. You could say for more information about insert product name or product category then check out insert link to your website. This will create backlinks to your website and will drive a very small amount of traffic also.

    I post them in the product review/money keyword I target once in the first sentence, then in the image, and below the image. So it's at least 3 times within an article

    does it help?

    However Amazon is a tiny part of my affiliate income. I promote associate programs that pay $30+ per sale. Amazon gives only 4%-8.5%, which is very little...

    Just out of curiosity, are you building a site based on the WSO on the forum for low-competition Amazon affiliate sales? Are you following some other model? Are you including both product reviews and informational articles on your site?

      The method isn't base on any WSO on the forum. I learned from the Pro outside WF. Mine strategy is pretty old school only to keep them simple and legit to Google. No spam backlinks, only relevant manual blog comments and forum posts . Yes, my articles focus on product review, they are done by my ghostwriter.

    I think there is some confusion here with the ops title being 'articles' rather than 'posts' or 'pages' so I'm guessing Alexa is talking about articles for syndication while the op is really talking about a wordpress site and where to put the Amazon links in a post. I could be wrong though!

    People say that you should not post at the top because it is spam. Well, I am in business to sell, and critics love to yell - at me. Best place is under the product image. Also, you can make the product image also clickable - it is easy. Get the composer program.

    Do not put the affiliate link at the bottom of the web page. Yeah, as few people will see it because they do not like to scroll any more. Making the link a clickable color is a good idea - use blue or cyan.

      Thank for the suggestion. I use a buy now box provided from Amazon placed next to the images at the top of the content.
