Virtual Assistant - tools, services, software

I am about to hire a Filipino VA to do link building, research and admin tasks.

What tools do you use with your Virtual Assistants?

e.g. Basecamp, VPS etc.

Dave I have a couple of VA and have found the best combination of tools to use is

Jing - for simple screen capture. This helps quickly explain what you want you VA's to do

Google Docs - Which is a powerful office suite that allows for teams to work collaboratively

Wrike - which is in my opinion a much better (and free) alternative to bootcamp.

The best bit of advice I can give you is to ensure you are clear in what you want to have your VA's do, and always hold them accountable at the end of each and every day.

    Good luck fella...

    Hi,

I use these tools with my clients:

DropBox - For files we both use like music/video.
Google Docs - So we can edit documents together or separately.
iCloud - To share contacts and calendars.

  • Wunderlist: an easy to use (and free) task manager app, so you can upload, organize, etc daily and weekly tasks to each of your employes. You then push the tasks to the cloud and they receive their tasks right away

I use this app every day to manage my team's daily task.

The other members have already given you some of the usual link building tools your VAs could use, what I'd like to warn you about is to make sure they don't employ any black hat techniques that might get your sites in trouble.

Here are tested and proven tools that will keep your VA (and even yourself!) more productive and efficient with work:

    1. Asana - it's project management tool which I personally find user-friendly (they have a quick tutorial video after you sign up). You can categorize broad items into Projects. Then go down to main tasks then underneath that are subtasks that you can check or uncheck (just like a to-do list).

    2. Google Docs or Dropbox - It's a matter of what's convenient for you but the purpose is just the same (to store files). I use Google Docs most of the time because it's already connected to my Gmail and it has a free 15 gig storage. Dropbox is also nice and comes with free 2 gig storage and you can refer your friends to sign up to Dropbox to increase the MB storage

    3. Time Doctor - it's a time tracking software with a built screenshot of your VAs desktop. They have 30-day free trial and you can sign up monthly thereafter.

    4. Google Keywords Tools - for keyword analysis. You can also try Raven tools for SEO.

    5. Google Calendar - You can sync your other calendar software with this by embedding the URL to your appointment.

Hope this gives you some idea.

Asana and Basecamp are good tools to use for project management. I've used Basecamp and I think most VAs are using it, too.

Dropbox is definitely a good cloud storage software, I would definitely recommend using this for your VAs (where ever they are from)

Skype - I think it is widely used. I would prefer using this than Google Hangout.

Time Doctor - This is a great innovation of time tracking. You can use this to track the output of your VA. It can take screenshots (configurable by you/manager), send daily/weekly/monthly reports of how your VA has performed his/her duties even if they are working remotely.

For Link Building: GSA SER it's good.

Wouldn't use it directly against your money sites if he's not really experienced (must use strict rules). I'd recommend to use it to rank YouTube / DailyMotion videos etc.

    Hi Dave!

There are a lot of SEO tools that will be useful. Anyway, here is the list of my favorite tools:

1.) Time Doctor - for tracking your VA's time. It offers a good screenshot as well.

2.) Google Docs - allows you to share a document to your team/VA(s).

3.) Asana - Project management tool

4.) Google Keyword Tools - used for keyword analysis.

5.) iCloud - used for sharing calendars

    Hope it helps!

There are several good tools that have been shared here. The biggest thing for me is to make sure the VA knows exactly what you want them to do. I usually record a quick 3-5 minute video showing them what I want done. How to do it and what not to do. Since doing quick video's my projects and tasks have been completed faster and I can give them more stuff to do daily.
