Is it me or has Fiverr quality dropped?

Since they've updated their site and bragged how much money they make a day, I noticed customer service sucks, literally they don't get back to any requests, and when you private message a seller, they feel you might be trying to purchase off their site, they close the thread. So much for the fun site it was.

I wouldn't say dropped but they have changed. I now down understand how gigs are ranked. I asked them to help me promote one of my gigs and they refused.

Their main focus is to now make money because they have investors backing them. :-)

I had a bad experience with a seller that was keeping me busy with silly questions because she had too many requests. She was using many tricks to delay delivering, and then she pretended to have delivered the order, but she was only making me another silly question… I had to cancel the order and find someone else.

I will never waste my time at Fiverr again.

Depends what was promised. I have mixed feelings about people with concerns about a low priced product or service being told "don't worry; it's only $whatever."

On the one hand, low priced WSO threads are notorious for attracting suspicious people who want the seller to defend the value in a 10 post exchange before buying a $7 WSO with an unconditional guarantee, which seems silly if they value their time.

On the other, people have a perfect right to complain if they didn't get exactly what was advertized. If someone advertizes a luxury car in perfect condition for $1 and doesn't deliver, it is a breach of contract just as it would be had they asked for six figures; by definition any ad promising anything for any price is a one way binding contract on the seller, and people should hold them to it.

The shorter version is I expect the seller to keep their word, regardless of price and value.

Fiverr is known for insane value, and is insanely rich because of that rep; if experience teaches buyers to start expecting less than what people promise, then many of it's patrons will find another site for their bargain hunting, and Fiverr will rightly lose much of their market share.

If anyone advertizes anything with a promise to the public, even for free, and it turns out they never even had the capability to keep the promise, then they can be prosecuted as the criminals they are; price has nothing to do with it.

I like to look at fiverr like a little trash and treasure market.

I dont go there to do my grocery shopping, I just go there to browse - if I happen to find something I like, I'll buy.

Yeah, I agree that the marketplace on Fiverr is continuing to evolve. Some sellers have figured out what is acceptable (currently) with Fiverr and are offering somewhat shady gigs.

Man, Fiverr is opening themselves up to so much competition. Yes, most have failed.

But still, since the beginning they've had some odd practices that have irritated buyers and sellers alike. Maybe its because the founder was a lawyer...

      And then I walk in.

I don't think they should be in the field of internet marketing, as they seem to have a lot of double standards. Locking out accounts for ridiculous reasons, while allowing some very questionable gigs.

They have a C rating with the Better Business Bureau. It may not mean much, but it is a good indication that buyers and sellers feel they've been screwed by Fiverr in some fashion or another. Did I mention that their founder was a lawyer?

I agree, you can't expect much for $5, but I'm not talking about the gigs rather Fiverr's service to buyers and sellers. In fact I don't care if the gigs are shit, but if I have an issue with a buyer just try and help out Fiverr.

Seems like most of you guys have been going to dodgy sellers.

I always have a somewhat lengthy conversation with a seller before deciding to buy. I recently bought a gig from Fiverr, but the seller in question was very courteous, answered all my questions quickly. I'd definitely go to him again.

I don't think Fiverr itself is the problem, but rather the mentality both buyers and sellers have when they visit the site/sign up. I try not to pick sellers who are so loaded with work that it'll take an age and a half for me to get any answers to my questions let alone my stuff done.

Every marketplace has its bad eggs. The Warrior Forum is has quite a few too, doesn't make the platform bad. You just need to search a little deeper beyond what you see at face value imo.

I have never even visited the fiverr site before to be honest, and I could be completely wrong, but to me, the "five" in fiverr just reminds me of the "dollar" in dollar store.

I suppose there are a few things I wouldn't mind purchasing at a dollar store such as gift bags, wrapping paper, note pads, things of that essence. In other words, small menial things.

But things that I place a lot of value on, never. So if the time comes in the future where I may want a cartoon caricature or something, perhaps I'll shop there. But things that I know will carry a lot of weight in my business? Never.

I guess I'm never really surprised too much when I see complaints about fiverr. But then again, I wouldn't complain in public if a ring I bought at a dollar store broke or turned my finger green. I'd be too embarrassed, lol!

Ok, just thinking out loud here. I'll shut up now.

I got to admit that I have not used Fiverr support for a long time, but at the few occasions in which I requested their help, they responded quickly and were generally very helpful.

I don't see a reason that would change, but maybe someone with more recent experience with their support team can make it clearer.

    Hi there,

I used Fiverr for the first time last week, to make a graphic for my blog. I have to say I thought it was good as I live in the uk it seemed even cheaper to me. I did look around at other bits and messaged seller's about other things. I did find the response rate very slow. I guess really it only $5.00 and you will find some gems, but also some not so good services. I would just think with anything you buy, look into it, ask questions and look at feed back.
    Best wishes

Yesterday I read some negative customer reviews about a gig that basically was someone writing a mayan spell (whatever that is) that would get you anything you desire (from money to love to weight loss!) and they were complaining nothing happened... LOL! And the positive reviews are even more hilarious...

So if the site allows this type of scam I guess anything goes.

What exactly are you expecting for $4? (the amount the seller actually receives...after a 14 day hold)

No offense to you--I mean to say this to everyone...some people in IM have this idea that w/e they invest in--no matter how cheap--should meet their expectations. That simply isn't how the world works. Would you go into the dollar store shopping for a truffle?

I also disagree with imperets. People who sign up on Fiverr with an eye toward making a lot of money are putting up gigs that they can complete in 10 min or less. That's the only way to make money. Let's think about what that implies.

      1) No customization
      2) cookie cutter results
      3) likely fake stats (in the case of selling twitter followers ,etc)
      4) The seller doesn't care about you at all

That all depends on what you're buying on fiverr - But that being said. I echo what your saying "what do you expect for $4" Fiver should be used like any other marketing tool or resource, because there IS value there but shouldn't be "the answer" that you're looking for, because it's most likely not.

Take fiverr for what it is and appreciate it. What do people expect when someone only makes $4 per project.

I would guess the gigs quality did drop. Many fake reviews ( people give good reviews upon delivery, which i understand $5 a task, what would you expect ).

I don't believe the site worth the time you waste looking through their gigs, if you want something done, go spend your x amount at once, instead of spending it over a 100 times trying to get it correct, because whatever you looking for is not going to be done correctly at the $5 rate

Even if you accessed your account, you won't be able to withdraw the money, Fiverr doesn't allow that, it would be credited towards your next Gig.

Fiverr is just a marketplace. I know for a fact that there are top-notch vendors in almost any niche there. Those who say that the quality of Fiverr has never been high are making misleading statements. You could say, instead: "There are more low quality sellers on Fiverr now than there used to be." That would be more accurate, because yes the ratio may have changed, because Fiverr dumped a bunch of money on marketing and most people are mediocre at what they do.

I think that Fiverr was one of the most ingenious business models since eBay. I wonder how they got their initial vendor base - that was probably the biggest challenge.

What you have just stated here is of course your opinion, however, I do have to question whether you actually have experience in hiring top-notch vendors in just about every niche there.

Let's take your word for it anyway, and suppose your broad statement is true. I then have to question these top-notch vendors' business sense. I mean if you are one of the best, why are you doing work for $5 a pop? It seems to me if you were indeed a top-notch expert in your field, you would charge what you are worth and work smarter, not harder.

Then, let's look at it from a potential client's view. So many have stated that you spend a lot of money trying different vendors in an attempt to find those that are top-notch. Why not take that money and spend it all at once on someone who is indeed top-notch talented and has business smarts running their own companies?

I still just don't get the whole thing. Even China makes a lot of money selling cheap, low quality items and obviously, there is a market for it. They make a killing. But the thing is, is that if you're top-notch in your field, then what you produce isn't low quality. Could the discrepancy be in perception of top-notch?

I have ordered and had completed exactly 754 gigs on Fiver. I know because I just looked. Fiverr is awesome. I've ranked first and second spots in Google for several high volume highly competitive keywords. I've also ordered plenty of voice overs and other services that are absolutely top notch. I don't think they have gone downhill.

        2 things I don't like are:

        1. The new layout. I just don't like it man.
        2. All the upsells and extras are getting out of control in my opinion.

I think like in any marketplace, you really have to do your own due diligence in order to try and filter out the bad from the good. You need to read between the lines sort of speak before engaging further. It's not always easy. But then again, same principles apply here.

Sometimes on Fiverr, I just don't get it. For instance, seeing the amount of people that have paid 5 bucks for testimonials, testimonials! That just KILLS the whole trust aspect between the consumer and the seller (if the consumer finds out). Moreover, it's even harder to believe that people order gigs from a seller so clearly reading from a screen that's almost exactly colinear with his/her webcam, with wandering eyes so obvious.

$5 is best spent on chocolate or Taco Bell in my opinion.

Of course the quality as an average has dropped, many years ago in the UK we used to call truckers the 'Knights of the road' but now with many more people trucking without a care for their industries long term reputation the perception is that they are all a*holes of the road.

On Fiverr, there will always be the providers that we know and trust to deliver the fantastic quality they have always delivered but on the flipside there are now many more who will take your money and disappear once their game is up.

The trick is to talk to other marketers and ask them who they use on Fiverr and give them a shot. However remember quality is always a balance between what you expect, what you have asked for and what they can actually deliver.

This reminded me that for those who feel uneasy about ordering gigs, there are at least a few Warriors who sell lists of their "best" Fiverr sellers. Some of them sell a long list of sellers, and then charge a monthly fee if you want to get updates.

That might be well worth the investment if you plan to use Fiverr a lot, and don't already have a bunch of favs.

Go with the chocolate; the emergency room visit after eating Taco Bell costs more than $5.

I also did notice a poor user experience. They were certainly more customer focused before than now. It is like they went to fee bay school of customer service. Concentrate on a few big name power sellers and forget about the rest of us. Yeah, what is going on?
