Do personal blogs work?

Thinking of starting a blog on personal journies such as vegan bodybuilding and forex trading (beginner to pro).

How can I monetise these blogs?

What IM side projects should I be thinking about if I want a decent monthly sum (500-1000GBP) a month for starters?

If you have questions, ask away.

Started a blog recently on becoming taller but not sure how to monetise it apart from amazon affiliate prouducts such as gravity boots and inversion tables. Found Clickbank product on increasing height beyond puberty but I am rather sceptical of the concept.

Thank you

Personal journey blogs can gain you large amounts of traffic, so long as you get them in front of the people looking to get started or who are struggling to do the same thing you are. A great way to get traffic to this type of blog is social media - it's a great way to find people who want to see your success so they can emulate it.

    For monetization, consider:
    • Information products (promote as an affiliate or create your own)
    • Physical products from Amazon, Commission Junction, Share-a-Sale, or other affiliate network
    • Banner advertising - either selling it directly to advertisers, going through an ad network (Adsense, for example), or promoting affiliate offers

I also recommend building a list from your blog. You can do this by signing up for an autoresponder such as Aweber or GetResponse, then offering a short report related to your niche for free in exchange for signups.

If you consistently keep your blog up to date and try to write interesting and/or informative posts, then you can build up a readership.

You may have a tough time finding readers that are interested in both vegan bodybuilding and forex trading. If you could somehow tie the two together in an unusual way then you may really be onto something.

However, if you limited it to one or the other, especially vegan bodybuilding, then you might be able to draw people of like interests. You could be a regular commenter on similar blogs and possibly build a relationship with the other bloggers, thus have cross traffic between all your friends' blogs.

Monetising? That would probably need to come after you've built up a readership. Monetization, especially if it seems like a sales pitch, can be a major turnoff for people.

First of all if you start getting substantial traffic you can definitely make money. it's all about traffic whether your blog is about a personal hobby or a business endeavor. Once you get to that point you can easily sell ads space on your blog sidebar check Buy and Sell Ads for examples. You can also join Sponsored Tweets and get paid for tweeting Ads in your niche.

Personal blogs can be quite successful actually. People love hearing success stories and like following peoples journeys. I've seen lots of blogs about people's body transformations which get hundreds of comments on every article, and are monetized by ads and various offers.

It can be successful but you have to write often and have good communication with your readers waiting for your next post all the time

I have my own blog which had absolutely no traffic. But I kept updating it and deep linking my web-pages onto other website so to get archived. I now have Affiliate income + Adsense income. From $ 2 per month, it has gone over to much more. Now I am investing, buying websites on Flippa and making a few myself. All you need is the right recipe. Holla me if you need any other tips.

In the beginning blogging is nice, but the continuation is hard because you have to keep writing interesting posts and you will have to make a research if you don't have enough knowledge. You should care about maintaining just one blog first of all because you won't manage to drive traffic to many blogs.

You can make money if you will manage to drive a lot of traffic to your blog; otherwise, your ads, banners, affiliate products, etc. won't give you any income.
