I am planning to add a contact form to my site. I have seen lots of people use Gravity Forms on their site.

Is there some specific reason lots of people opt for Gravity Forms(paid wordpress contact form plugin) when there are already lots of free wordpress plugins available like Contact Form 7 ?

  • I have used both of them quite a bit on client sites.

Gravity Forms is better if you have the money. GF gives you more custom features for each part of the form.

If you are doing something simple, like just a Contact Form, then CF7 is all you need, and is free.

  • I actually just started using Gravity Forms today and so far I am VERY impressed.

To answer your question; the reason people would use them over something like CF7 is because CF7 is simply a contact form while Gravity forms is so much more.

Beyond the custom styles and layouts my favorite thing about it is the conditional logic feature. I can already see how this will help in a big way when gathering information from my customers.

If you're looking for a simple contact form CF7 will definitely do the job but if you're looking to take things to the next level Gravity Forms is totally worth the money.

    • Thanks a lot for your valuable suggestion. You are right Gravity Forms gives a lot more things to try out. Logical forms is really a great thing.

      Thanks

      Still looking for more feedback.

  • If you are only wanting to add a simple contact form to your site, I would go with something like Fast Secure Contact form:-

    Or

    Contact Form 7:-
WordPress › Contact Form 7 « WordPress Plugins

If you are needing a greater degree of control and flexibility for your forms, then before splashing out on Gravity Forms, I would recommend taking a look at Formidable Pro first. It's a pretty good, and much cheaper alternative:-

  • I'm seeing a Gravity in a different way for creating contact forms.

I'm using it to build complex systems such as Survey, User Generated Content, Classified Sites, Booking Forms, and many various systems in WordPress.

I don't think you need to spend money for just the contact form.

    • Totally agree with you!

I prefer Formidable Pro though. It is immensely powerful, even allowing things like front-end registration and posting.

      You're welcome!

Hope it works well for you!

  • Forget gravity forms or fast secure contact form use VCITA Plugin. It is free and will increase your sales dramatically. This is a top notch form available by Widget or Plugin. I have it installed on my site Freight Broker Training Programs | The Freight Broker TrainerFreight Broker Training | Transportation Training Group America's # 1 Freight Broker Trainer check it out. I generate leads from it daily. A pro version is available for purchase. The options for this thing is amazing, your contacts are transmitted to your online account and you have the ability to create opt in list for email, text etc. There website is Contact Forms, Client Management, Online Scheduling and Free Invoicing by vCita or you can search plugins through the Word Press Directory.

    Hope this helps

    • Horses for courses!

Vcita looks good for scheduling appointments etc.

I was looking at WPMUDEV's 'Appointments' plugin which is similar, but no so full featured, but. . . it is a one off payment:-

However, if you develop lots of sites — and forms, in all their wide and varied incarnations, are an integral part of them, then you probably need to be looking at the likes of Gravity Forms, or Formidable.
