Social media traffic is really valuable when it comes to building lists. If you have a fan-page for your website or product on Facebook then you could promote it on there. You could also try promoting it on forums related to your niche, or even try article marketing.

Yes, Social media traffic is best way to build list. I prefer using Linkedin and Twitter. However i dont use Facebook 'cause i never make money by promote products to my list. They're totally waste of time.

I am surprised if you say Facebook hasn't helped you. Did you try any Facebook Advertisement campaigns? Linkedin has helped me gain traffic so did Facebook. Twitter is garbage for those who are starting new or even small scale businesses. Twitter is only good for established individuals and well known businesses.

I think about social network like facebook , twitter with using option hachtag is very helpful to cible person who can need what you promot ( product )

I think SEO is the best way if you rank for keywords in Google... lots of free traffic, but it's a long term approach.

I will give you a good suggestion. Just keep updating your website and let the Google crawlers do the rest of the work. My ownwebsite had absolutely no traffic. But then I started linking other top rated websites to my website and these links became archived with Google and all my blog posts started appearing on Google front pages. For example if you google keywords such as storyboarding, naan qalia, kassemg arab, jamun or jambola, my website will pop right on the first page of the search results. I am doing the same with the rest of my website. I have another secret recipe that I've been using lately and that too has proven successful. SEO is all about experimenting.

Social media traffic is the best. I mean not just spamming around the social media and spread your squeeze page link. But, building relationship with others and asking them if they want to jump on board to get value from you.

There is no Best Way. But since you're asking; I get most of my traffic from YouTube marketing.

But if you have no idea how to rank well, and optimize your (quality) see I say quality because people don't like watching rubbish 50 second videos, it may not be as effective for you..

If you're looking for quality targeted traffic, you need quality videos.

For me, social media without a doubt. From fans who like for free as well as FB ads (I realize that's not free and OP wants free sources).

I've done PPC (Bingads mostly), SEO, YouTube, guest posting and commenting and nothing comes close to social media (Facebook primarily for me). What's great about social media other than it's free/inexpensive is your followers get to know you and in time will opt in, which results in better engagement.

Aside from my local business promotions (doesn't require much time these days), I spend most of my time working via social media and it's been incredible. It's more fun than link building too.

You have to measure conversions and ROI to answer this. For some niches, syndicating content to social sites and organic traffic may work.

For others, cpm, adwords, etc may be the best. Neil Patel said that Stumbleupon paid traffic generates a ton of hits with no engagement or leads. Each niche is different.

YouTube videos that have links to your blog and squeeze page under the video. If you can demonstrate that you know what you're talking about, with the info in your videos, you'd be building authority and building a list at the same time.

Completely agree with this. Youtube can be a goldmine if you do it the correct way. For social media traffic, I think the best ones to build your list free are from Facebook and Pinterest. However, you do need to spend some money if you want to build your list faster, such as using Facebook PPC or buying backlinks to help your youtube video move up the serp rankings.

Content syndication (not article marketing), but repurposing your content in different ways...ebooks and submit to free ebook depositories, slide share, turn your articles into videos, etc. Get yourself out there and push your brand into people's faces.
