Submitting The Same Article to Different Directories...Good or Bad Thing?

Whats everyone opinion about using the same original article and submitting it to various article directories?? Some people say it's a bad thing, others say it good thing??

Wouldn't the benefit of doing so be for more backlinks and more visitor traffic?

Also, when you submit to these article directories don't people come to pick up your articles meaning that make a exact copy of your articles and resource box and place it on their websites or publications? If this is the case then why would it be bad to have the identical article on multiple websites?

Anybody care to elaborate on this, I'm sure there are alot of people with the same question. THANKS!

Personally, I don't think it is all that bad, especially if you are getting traffic, not just seo stuff. You figure if there are 50 directories and you get a couple of hits per month from each article, it will increase over time. Probably the best thing is to watch your traffic and see if it helps, and don't limit yourself to one strategy.

I've been experimenting with this for quite some time now testing statistics with quality backlinks, traffic, seo, and etc... I just don't see any good reason if you written an excellent article to revise it and edit it for the sake of not having duplicate content, or just let it sit on one article directory... I believe a good article should be reproduced and published on multiple directories don't you guys think so also??

Any other words on this anyone?

It makes no difference at all if you use the original or change it .. Yes I have tested this so it is not just an opinion ...

With that said though - I suggest trying both methods out for yourself and test. It can be a good thing to edit the original for article directories and post the original to your own site / blog. By editing your article, especialy the title, it can give you more of wide range for using keywords... Why stick to one kkeyword if 2 or 3 are producing the same results.

Bottom line is test for yourself and your sites..

I'd say good for backlink building. You can get a lot of mileage out of a single article. I tend to submit articles to EZA first, wait until it is approved and then submit to another 10-12 high page rank article directories. I usually change the article headline, and maybe the anchor text in the resource box, but other than that leave the rest of the article untouched.

Okay, for those that are trying to build "quality' backlinks, how would you have control over this if someone could copy and paste your content on any site they choose too?

And do you think a quality backlink from a highpage rank site is better or hundreds of lower page rank sites?

As I can see there's a lot of theories on this as with everything SEO involved...

quality is better than quantity but I still wouldn't discount getting backlinks from lower page ranking sites. I worked for an seo company downtown chicago and that was our strategy. As to your article submission question. My understanding is that google punishes for duplicate content. I myself have submitted 8 or so articles to 8 article directories goarticles, ezine articles etc and did not get credit for one back link. I was told it was because of my article submission strategy. (this was months ago before I started with seo) If you do submit the same article I would do what the others did change the title and some of the wording a bit but unique articles properly written with well placed keywords etc will do just fine. Remember that you can submit your articles to the social book marking sites like digg. If you get popular there others will bookmark your article and maybe your website. Again quality is better than quantity in my opinion

Ofcourse there i, this is why it is always best to test for yourself and your sites... I can sit here for 2 weeks and do nothing but testing to answer your question - BUT -- That does not mean you will get the same results that I would post to answer your question.

There are many different factors involved in a great deal of advertising and the same thing for Article Marketing. Quality, keywords, proper written articles, informative articles, take action resource box, and many other things can effect the outcome of my test vs your test...

A few facts you can rely on though

FACT: There is no duplicate content penalty in Article Marketing
FACT: Unique quality content is always better
FACT: Search results are not the same for all countries
FACT: It is possible to get more traffic from a lower PR site vs a high PR site

This is why it is so important to test though because not everyone is going to see the same results even if they all followed the same guide.

I've heard that Google will discount or completely ignore backlinks from duplicate articles. Does anyone know if that's true or not?

    Hi,

I have done some testing on this...

I wrote two articles and submitted them both through SubmitYourArticle.com (SYA).

With the first article I submitted it as it was without making any variations on it.

For the second article I used SYA's "Article Leverage" system which allows you to enter alternative titles, opening paragraphs, sentences and resource boxes and interchanges them randomly before submitting to directories.

I submitted my articles and then waited a month for things to settle down in Google and then I checked to see how many pages with my article on it had been indexed.

I found that I had double the amount of pages indexed in Google for the second article (using article leverage).

I have tried this experiment a few times, with very similar results and using SYA I have found that after a month I have around 20 indexed pages with my article on it (=20 backlinks) for a non changed article and around 40 pages for an article with modified versions.

    My conclusions were:
    - distribution spun version of my article doubled the number of backlinks. So in general this is worth doing as long as it is quicker for you to spin the article than it is for you to write a new one. It tool me about 20 mins using Article Leverage.

    - Google does filter out pages from its results if they have very similar content on them. This makes sense as why would Google want to return very similar results to people who are searching.

I also repeated the same experiment using Article Post Robot software and got similar results.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Suzanne

    Hey Phil.

Submitting the exact same article is not a good idea,
simply because a lot of directories do an Article DDC check.
This is a duplicate check and it can results in your article being
    rejected.
The best option here is to find a software which has an article
spinner integrated into it, like I'm using.
That way, all my article pass all the checks
