Any advice for a newbie in buying and selling domains?

Hey Guys,

A while ago, by accident I bought a domain for a few bucks where I ended up selling it for almost $3000. I didn't think of it much since it really was by accident. I wasn't even trying to sell the domain. Somebody contacted me through GoDaddy (I had privet registration) and offered to buy the domain and since I wasn't doing anything with it, I sold it.

This was a while back. And that got me kind of interested in looking into this filed. I have been doing some research, looking at different auctions and pricing and so on.

But I wonder if anyone here has any tips on how to choose winner domains. Beside the obvious stuff (one and two word domains, dictionary words etc), what else you look for?

Also, is there any website that you can put a keyword in and see a list of domains that have ever sold?... I know you can look in Sedo, but they just list stuff being sold and not necessarily domains that have sold.

I would appreciate any help.

Buy low. Sell high. Sounds like you did well. You should be giving us advice.

Man you should have stick to it then .By now every possible profitable domain name is already taken by domain brokers.Iphone6forsale.com is not available that is how you know that they are people out there that already had the ideas and already worked on it.The best way to do it now is to buy a domain name build traffic to it and then sell it.
