I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO POed! My son-in-law accidently deleted our eBay affiliate account. When he contacted them, they basically said too bad, how sad! There is no way to reinstate it once we delete it. They said we would have to apply for a new one.

So, we started using MY eBay account. We changed the info to our old account and off we went. Well, I just received an email from eBay saying they deleted MY account because it had been linked to a BANNED account. BANNED? It wasn't banned, it was deleted accidentally. It said we forfeited all commisions pending and that is over $4,000!

Anybody have any ideas, suggestions or sympathy?

I MAY just turn the hillbilly marketer loose on them!

    • Chris,

I feel your pain and frustration, man. Have you ever been able to speak with someone about it or is it strictly by email?

  • Wow, that's too bad. I would contact them and try and sort it out. If you cannot, I suggest you ask them for the legal department. That move has gotten me more action than any other.

  • Chris you have my sympathy. I have dealt with Ebay enough to know how difficult it can be to get them to see your side of it and get anywhere with them.

Ebay and Paypal really are the worst companies to deal with and more often than not it seems that once they make up their mind on something they don't listen to anything that you have to say.

However, as TomG said, it could be an idea to ask for their legal department. With these companies that is often the only way that they will take notice of you. I had an issue with a bad customer a while back and she started a thread on the Ebay forum slandering me and she was really nasty - she also sent me emails threatening physical violence. I repeatedly asked Ebay to remove the thread and stop her from slandering me with the only response ever being 'we will look into it' but nothing every happened.

It wasn't until I went onto their live chat and told them that I was taking legal action against the customer and that since Ebay had allowed her to continue slandering me that I was also considering taking legal action against them. That thread was removed within 10 minutes!

I know that is a completely different issue, but I just wanted to make the point that it wasn't until I threatened legal action that I finally got them to help me.

You don't need to threaten legal action at this stage I don't think, but to ask for their legal department would at least get them to take you seriously.

Good luck, I hope you get it sorted out.
    Sheryl

PS. Make sure you keep all correspondence from them so you have your 'evidence' and if it does go any further make sure you let them know that you have copies of everything.
  • Honestly, this is the first time something like this has ever happened to me. I immediately replied to their email with...

eBay is NOT my favorite website at the moment!
  • Give them a call and explain the situation. They always give you the runaround when they can hide behind an email but seem to actually use their brain and work when you call. If all else fails do like others have suggested and ask for the legal department
  • This is the email I received from eBay...

  • The "legal department" idea is an excellent one. Though eBay is basically one of those "we're too large to care" companies, the powers-that-be there may decide that they don't want to deal with the legal headache for to what them is a measly amount of money. They always hope that you'll go away. When you don't, they often give in to get you off their backs. Pester the hell out of them.
  • I would love to call them but the problem is, I can't log into the ebay partner network anymore! AND not only that but have you ever tried to find a contact number for ebay? I think I could get Barack Obama on the phone faster than I could get ebay!
  • So is it your Ebay Partners account or your actual Ebay account that has been terminated? Also, do you have the original email that you received from them when you let them know that your account was accidentally deleted?

Perhaps ask them to supply you something in writing saying that your account was accidentally deleted and not terminated.
  • I will take it to the legal department if it comes to that but I don't hold out much hope for that method. eBay will have legal counsel on staff and their pockets are a little deeper than mine... not much, but a little!
  • Sheryl,

It is my EPN account and here is the email they sent regarding the accidental deletion of our account...

  • So they are both EPN accounts? One accidentally closed and one closed because it was linked to the first one?

I just had a look and I can't find any phone numbers either, only the contact form that you can use but no phone number. Even when logged into my account I still can't find a phone number.
  • Tina,

Thanks for those phone numbers. I am going to check them out!
  • If you want to get a desired result you are going to have to find a decision maker and you are going to have to do it on the telephone. Email is not going to cut it.
  • That phone number WAS good for getting through to eBay and I DID talk to a representative. The problem is that she was with the ebay auction site and not the ebay affiliate program.

She told me to log into the EPN site and contact them through there. I told her I would LOVE to do that but they had deleted my account. She told me how to log in as "guest" and submit an email that way. I did and here is what I said...

  • This is SOOOOO sad! Just look at my picture... I'm just a little boy! I may send them an email and tell them I am going to tell my mommy!
  • I would START by getting legal advice and a lawyer. Check with your local Legal Services office for advice as to what kind of attorney. You should be able to get this much advice free. Then I would talk to the lawyers they recommend, and if work out a deal with him/her.

The lawyer should contact Ebay in writing.

I believe you have a potential lawsuit for monetary damages in addition to just reinstatement, if your Ebay account was part of your livelihood.

You can explore the legal possibilities without spending any money.

Sure, you can call and email them, and you should try, but I definitely believe you need to have a letter delivered to them ASAP on legal stationary. They don't know how deep your pockets are, and the possibility of a large lawsuit could make them straighten it out pronto.

  • You are just getting canned email responses from low-level flunkies - the first row of "flak-catchers". You need to have a conversation with someone on the next level up, who can actually make a decision or has access to someone who can make a decision. A letter on legal stationary should definitely help with that.
