Dog Training Site gets 300 visitors a day:need help

Hi I'm looking for some advice. I run a dog training site that used to get 3,500 visitors a day pre-panda. I had a manual penalty that will get lifted hopefully once I re-build my site. My main question is. I always failed to sell ebooks on my site although I did make a good Adsense income. Is it worth me trying to build a list that I can make money from? I get about 300 visitors a day at the moment. Just need some advice. Thanks

Not in that niche but I would imagine its worth trying to build a list.

The ebook you was trying to sell was it plr as don't forget chances are your visitors have been offered the same ebook if its plr and you haven't changed the design or name to make it your own..

Yes i would build a list. How were you "hinting" to your visitors in the past to consider your product?

Hi I wasn't really hinting - I had and still have no idea how to convert visitors to buyers -,
I just put up a link to a good ebook that I liked. But I think if I had the right advice I could probably build a list. Just not sure where to start

if you are getting 300 visits a day, you can turn that into a very profitable blog assuming the traffic is targeted.

All you'd need is a decent sales funnel which can be setup in a day, and edit you content and add some calls to action to you sales funnel.

SOunds like your just a few tweaks away from a nice income generator.

In order to make money, you must sell something.

As in most markets, the thing you sell is a solution to a problem. So then, identify the problem, and develop solutions to that problem. For example:

    -Dog aggression
    -Dog potty training
    -Barking
    -Etc.

If you follow any gurus, you know Frank Kern supposedly made $1Mil/year selling a dog training ebook. He specifically targeted individual dog breeds.

Do some market research to figure out what the most popular dog breeds are, what the main problems people have with their dogs, and deliver solutions to those problems.

Or you could just make another crappy adsense/amazon/affiliate waste of bandwidth site....

    Good luck dude.

You can also sell dog related affiliate products,

300 visitors a day is a marvellous number that a lot of webmasters would be delighted with.

It would probably be worth quite a lot if you wanted to sell it with that many visitors.

    Hey tcharles,

I would love to know more about your training site. If there is a link to view your site that would be great. Have a look at your site and look of way of improving it in order to capture prospects and other area's to improve in order to monetize traffic.

In relation to your website, as there is little information. Does your website offer training to a particular breed of dog or are you offering training for one particular type of breed.

Ill try and help with the limited information you have given and i hope this helps.

Try and focus on one particular type of breed, you could focus one specific type of breed within that niche. As it will be more laser targeted. This was you can find prospects that are only interested about their dog and that breed. For example : Japanese Akita ; This is a rare breed and i know people look into this breed for training and other training items. I have done this myself and i know this works.

You need select one type of dog breed, by doing your research. I found that rare dogs are more can be more expensive and the owners have more disposable income and are willing to spend more on their dog and so on.

You could create a site around the specific type of dog and then you could use a simple strategy, of offering a free downloadable report/Ebook.

I.e Top 5 : Training technique for the Akita.

Offer this and build your list. Now you can capture your prospect and have an email sequence setup - follow-up and then offer of a more- in-depth training guide. This is just a simple funnel set-up

More advanced setup- create a funnel consisting of multiple up-sells/down sells. Which could include - training videos and training equipment specific to that breed etc.

I found numerous fan pages on dogs on Facebook and you can essentially siphon free traffic from these laser targeted groups. As you can find specific audiences for the breed. You can even create your own group but start off with the basics.

You should also consider creating multiple landing pages - send visitors/traffic from the groups directly to your landing pages to the free download / paid offer - or from your landing page to your website. You should try a variety of strategies and test and optimize.

Now I know these may sound like a lot of work, but honestly broken down - it's very straight forward and simple. Now having 300 visitors - clearly people are visiting your site for a reason.

You need to start analysing their behaviour on your sites and you can use various tools for this ( heat maps ) However through list building and further interaction with your prospects, survey them and ask them what they want, so you can essentially create a product orientated around the wants of your prospect.

I hope a few of the items I have mentioned help and if you want further clarification, id be happy to help.

Here's what you NEED to begin doing extensively on your site:

Test, Test, and Test some MORE.

Test and see how much income you make with adsense on your site, then test and see how much money you make by building a list and promoting eBooks.

Test BOTH and then determine which method helps your bottom line the most.

      Hey there:
Tried to PM you but it is not working for some reason.
Anyway, fello dog training website owner here.
Some advice you are receiving here about adding an ebook to your site is a good idea, but AdSense is not bad either! You have to remember that the guys against AdSense here, are so because they own crappy sites with low CPC. The dog training nich has high CPC as I'm sure you know, and you were probably making decent money before your penalty.
Anywa, I'd love to take a look at your site and help you fix things up if you're interested.
      Email me:
slab of lab @ gmail.com if interested. Cheers.

I think this is very true. You should do some little experimenting and testing first. There are things you need to consider before diving into the bigger subject of making money online. After that, pick what you think is the best method for your website.

whatever you niche might be, but listbuilding has always proved to be beneficial.
you should start building a list right now,
and as for your ebook, I suggest you offer affiliates to promote your ebook.

Yeah, offer a free product that they get after subscribing, you`ll build a list pretty fast if you can get back to 3,5K visitors daily.. but be prepaired to build another one, in case your manual penalty isn`t getting lifted.. that happens so very often..

    1. Give away the book
    2. Make your site a resource - review books, training products, etc. and include links to buy them on Amazon (links that happen to contain your affiliate ID...)
    3. Update your list subscription form so in order to download the free book they enter their name, email, city/state, and breed of dog.
    4. Sell ads to local trainers.
    5. As an upsell to the trainers, they could pay $X per month to own a territory. Owning the territory means they get every email and contact info you collect for the cities in their service area.

If I were a dog trainer, I would pay you for this - you're generating leads all day, some of them are going to be my city, and you're giving me the name, email, and breed of dog so I can follow up? Sign me up.

That is genius and this tactic can be used in many other niches.

I don't know why nobody consider this suggestion yet.

If you get your visitor through google then I will suggest you check your traffic stats. Check awstats. See the keyphrase with which people visit your site. That will give you idea of what they really want.

Don't know if you build list. May be you should consider 'surveying' your audience.

Hi I also have a dog site selling 9000 amazon products. Also I had a problem making a list. How I have made sales is linking my site to my blog and visa versa. This helps with clickbank sales on my blog and better still more dog products being sold on my dog site. Any ebooks or other selling products I will put to my blog for better results. I change the advertising every month or so. Hope this helps

There's no point in building a list if you don't have any products to sell them - is there?

First, get a product made (or make it yourself), or promote an affiliate product. Whatever works for you.

That's when you'll actually make money from your list. True, even if you use AdSense, you might make a few extra dollars since you get the return traffic. But still, a real product will turn out better in the long run.

Yes build that list. You are leaving money on the table by not.

Get your site visitors back. 300 per day is good but you will do a lot well with 3,500.

You most likely have lost money by not capturing leads.

I would still keep adsense on top of other stuff - it pays

    Do you actually train dogs?

Its absolutely worth you making a list. However, you need to determine the product(s) you are going to sell, before starting... instead of saying "ok, I have a list now what?"

The one thing that caught me eye.... in the past 3500 a day, but you need a site redo? uh how much money in adsense have you lost in the past year due to lower traffic? Panda, in general penalized sites for Duplicate content. Meaning the text on your page was taken from somewhere else. you need to write your own content. and see about getting the 3500 a day count back.

Not quite true. There's every point in building a list RIGHT NOW - you use it to capture peoples emails for when you do have products to sell (which should be ASAP) and you use it to keep in touch with them, drive traffic back to your site, inform them of new updates etc etc etc.

It's never too soon to create a list. The second your site launches you should be collecting emails and have an follow up series going out.
