Question for hosting affiliates

Hello,

I have been affiliate for different hosting companies lately, just to test the waters for the best offers.

However, things have gone out of the hand a bit. I'm not going to mention this hosting company name, but I would like to know your opinion about it.

I'm promoting hosting offers through SEO, mostly. Last month I had 112 leads for a specific hosting company, 8 of them were refunded which is pretty OK for me.

However, when I asked about the payment, affiliate manager told me this:

1) All the sales have to go through a "money-back-refund" which is xx days. - OK, got it. Completely fine with it, since most of the hosting companies DO have 30-90 days money back guaranteed

2) Almost half of the accounts haven't put any content on their sites/blogs - therefore we cannot verify and pay for them right away.

This second answer disturbs me a bit. I read through their affiliate TOS and there was nothing to be said about the content on the accounts. I made the sales, people paid upfront and I'm not getting paid for them since they haven't added any content? Isn't that a bit ridiculous?

I know that they like to get leads that stick with their host 3+ years, but I did everything according to their TOS.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

Plus, another question:

Can anyone recommend reliable hosting company that actually don't SCRUB that much? I'm looking for hosting companies that pay for their affiliates $100 - $200 per lead which is quite common for superaffiliates.

I think I know who you are referring to and I agree that the requirement to have content up is ridiculous. If you aren't already promoting WebHostingHub they are a quality hosting provider and they treat their affiliates well. I haven't dealt with any BS.

Sounds good. I already sent e-mail to them

So basically, they accept every single "lead" that have payed the initial cost for the 1 year hosting without any BS?

You have the site and traffic, swap and give other hosting companies a try.

They say 10 Kings, 10 Different Rules though the content thing is highly ridiculous.

I have a few domains i bought and haven't added any content to them and i pay for the hosting each and every month. Does it mean they don't charge me for the hosting despite they have no content? Ggrrrr, take action..

The highest payouts are full of hidden terms that (in the end) pay nothing. Worse yet, most of those hosts are terrible, such as the 50+ EIG brands that cliam to pay $100+ each, but rarely do.

Consider instead actually using a host for AT LEAST one year, and referring others to those hosts that gave you a good experiences. That's the ethical thing to do. Only refer hosts that YOU YOURSELF know are excellent. Otherwise all it takes is for a person to get bitten once, to know your advice is BS, and for your reputation to go down the toilet (where it belongs).

How would you like it if somebody recommended a product to you, only to find out the recommendation was fake, and they had not even used it? You be pissed, of course!

Stop falling for bogus affiliate programs.

I'm helping rookies to set up their first website. They are not willing to pay much and most of them are seeking for the cheapest solution available.

They don't need 100% uptime, they don't need top notch support, all they need is a place to host their site/blog.

80% of blogs/sites are abandoned in the first year anyway. If they grow bigger, they can feel free to move on to better hosts.

When I first started, 3 years ago - everyone suggested to go with hostgator, and I did. At first it looked reasonable etc, but 3 years later it's complete BS. Same goes with other hosting companies - some of them might go better, some of them may go much more worse.

Unless you promote high-end hosting offers for big businesses, I can't see any reason why I should be affiliated with the worlds best hosting company + everyone has their own cons and pros anyway.

Nearly every web hosting company has an affiliate program, which means you have a wide choice, and they are competing for affiliates...

...so if you don't like how this affiliate program is treating you, there are plenty of others to choose from.

I'm not saying that you necessarily need to switch company immediately, but talk to your company, and if you are unhappy, take your business elsewhere. If you are on the point of switching companies, do not be afraid to warn the current company (politely and professionally), that you are about to quit their program unless they resolve your concerns.
