Hi all.

Does any here use psd file templates ?

I have been looking through a load of psd templates and picked out one that I liked. then I downloaded photoshop - its free for 30 days.

I can see all the layers - but I can not see how to add and hyperlinks.

Also when I export it "for internet" all I get s a huge jpg file.

This is what I have: http://www.prime-servers.com/New_064.jpg

As you can see - the links aren't there on the menu items and I can see know way of putting them in.

Does anyone know how to do this ?

If all you received was a PSD file, then you will need to splice and then code the theme. Or you could find someone on WF or DP to splice it and code it for you.

OK - I just found that slicing tool
And now it creates the html.

Now the link shows up but a rollover effect would be nice.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for that ?

I responded to your post in the Website Design section of the forum....hopefully it will help you understand things better.

To put it simply there are 2 steps to designing a website with Photoshop. The first is using PS and designing the layout, the 2nd step is taking what you got from PS and coding it in CSS or HTML.

That's an entirely different animal. Two totally different steps. Judging from your two posts, I don't think you are grasping this.

Read my other response to you, it should help.

          You are quite correct !
I have never tried to make a website with photoshop before
or tries to use these templates.

          Thanks for answering.

It is a difficult thing to do, especially if you don't have the necessary skills in Photoshop and CSS or HTML.

Good news is that there are lots of really great tutorials out there that will help you learn....and many, dare I say most, are free.

Do some research with Google and see where it leads you.

Search fro things like PSD to CSS or slice a PSD....or PSD to HTML. You will find tons of quality information.

I've used PSD templates in the past, but only to cut them up and use the header in my websites. Sometimes I've discovered some pretty cool Photoshop effects by reverse engineering them.

The most important part of any design is readability. Your third line of white, graphical text overlaps the white swirl of the background image. You need to refine your layout, a bit.
