You should start learning about domain,hosting and Wordpress so you can setup your first site and there are a lot of tutorials on that. No, there is not just affiliate marketing in the IM World. You will learn slowly but take action soon.

Welcome to the forum. First, I think it's great you and your brother are going to work together. If you keep each other accountable, you can both stay more productive. My belief is taking action is the most critical ingredient whenever someone is doing internet marketing. I say find a good reputable guide, mentor, coach or whatever and then be an action taker.

$500 is absolutely enough to start with PPC and build solid campaigns. If you find products with high payouts, you can start making profits in the first month. Try with lead generation.

2. Finding buyers in forums and blogs, and understanding what they are buying, so that you may look for the products they are already buying and promote the same products or similar products.

3. You need Google Analytics which is a free tool, I also use Statcounter, another free tool that helps you see how many visitors your website had, from where they came, etc.

How you start doesn't matter nearly as much as just starting. Your learning curve will eventually point you in the right direction.
