Persistence, dedication, motivation input?

Hello Warriors,

Plan, read CNN, plan, play online games, plan... you get the point.

I'm having trouble with procrastination and motivation. I know my plan. I know exactly what I want, and hopefully what I need, to do. Unfortunately, engaging in any kind of productive activity outside of the planning phase seems daunting. Throughout my whole life I've constantly began a project, thought of something new, then moved on to the next thing before completing the former. Perhaps it's this underlying fear of losing desire and moving on that keeps me from beginning?

At any rate, I'm rambling. I have a few questions:

1. For those of you who have seen success, or are otherwise just really good at staying on task, what motivates you to get started in the morning? How did this work ethic start, and how did you make it routine?

2. Once you had started your plan, how did you avoid mid-plan jitters? I'm constantly getting fired up over an idea then losing faith half way through. I begin questioning my methods and my product and I eventually give up. How do you stay motivated to finish?

Thanks for the ideas! They will be put to good use!

For me, I create a sense of urgency in my mind to get work done. Being a college student, I juggle homework, tests, labs, a social life, and I still find time to research internet marketing and make baby steps on some of my plans to make a few bucks online.

On another note, how do you enjoy learning the most? I find that I prefer watching videos to reading quite a bit (don't get me wrong, a forum doesn't bother me, but I'd rather watch a handful of IM videos than sit down and read a 100 page WSO). If you target your steps forward with activities you enjoy more, you'll find yourself more engaged, for longer periods of time.

I'd assume you have other obligations besides just sitting at your computer all day, so find a way to incentive yourself to study/ take action. For example, whenever I get some spare time, I find myself incredibly motivated to get something done. Something that gets me closer to making money online. Why? Lets put it this way... I've got student loans that I'd like to pay off before I graduate.

    Hope this helps,
    Ben

Thanks for the input! It definitely helps! Unfortunately, when I get spare time, I'm really good at wasting it lol

  • I find looking at an entire plan overall a bit daunting. So what I do is break it down to the small projects and create tasklists around them. I just focus on one small project at a time that I know I can complete within the day or within a week. I make sure I do something everyday that contributes to the completion of those small project. When I'm done for that day, that's when I allow myself to waste a bit of time. When I finish one project, I celebrate and pat myself in the back because I Know I'm one step closer to completing my plan =)

I used to work for an internet marketing company. And on my first day on the job my eyes were opened to a whole new world of income possibilities. I vowed that very first morning that I was going to learn the business and do this type of work for myself as my own boss. After 15 months I was able to do just that. Running an internet marketing business from home has its ups and downs. On the negative side - its lonely work. On the positive side - nothing beats the freedom that having your own business affords you. Be thankful that you are in a beautiful struggle and not one of the millions of sheep that work for the man. Work hard, continue to learn and learn and learn - and you will be a success.

This is motivating. I was telling my fiance about my plan today and she said, "one of these days, you're going to be rich because you'll keep on until something works." I can't argue with that logic. I'm scared I'll be stuck in the mud I suppose. I don't want to spin my tires in a constant begin and quit cycle for the rest of my life. I suppose I'll get it in time.
