Today (3.10.2013) on all my websites (6) the traffic dropped to 20% (5 times less than usual) Do you have similar experience? Can you suggest a possible reason?

Yes, it's the Hummingbird. This algorithm takes search strings and puts them in clearer context to deliver more precise, user-centric results. For example, two users that search "how to brand" may want two different searches, say a marketer vs a cowboy.

It still uses Panda and Penguin, but is a whole new instrument. I don't know if it would have the sweeping effects of Panda/Penguin, because it has actually been in operation for a few months now. Google rolled it out on the DL.

Google switched to new search algorithm, that is probably the reason. It is hummingbird and it isn't some kind of big change. If you create quality content and use Social Media on the best way, you can feel safe.

What kind of traffic you seen a drop in? Organic? Direct linking? If its organic you may just be affected by googles algos

I noticed the same thing at my websites. Google keeps trying to do everything it can to force everyone to spend more to get traffic.

Whenever a new update takes place there are many unstable days, but after a while everything goes back to normal.

Survive and advance. Don't rely on Google heavily. There are so many other ways to generate traffic to your site... (super targeted traffic too) ... other than Google. You have a slew of options. If you do paid advertising, ramp it up.

You might want to wait a week or so. Sometimes there are hiccups after an algo update. Hummingbird is still phasing in so wait and see if it is permanent...

Agree with what some said. If a site only depends on Google for traffic, consider it out of the game. Today it's better to develop other sources of traffic.
