What affiliate "instant paypal deposit" script is this?

Normally I try to make my own scripts but I'am quickly learning that I don't have time to develop everything that my goals require.

There is this instant paypal script that I see used commonly. Its not really an affiliate program where they login, but rather the affiliate types their paypal email address into an input box and clicks submit, affiliate link looks like website.com/index.php?ref=yourpaypal@email.com. This link sends the visitor to a sales or optin page, and if they purchase, the payment is instantly made to their paypal email, notmine. My email is not listed as the payment reciever in the header of the payment page. But yet after payment they are still redirected to the "download page" on said website

Two sites off the top of my head that use this are Install Website Scripts Videos - Affiliate Tools and
The IM Dictionary

Also check out the 7 dollar script from Jon Leger.

RAP adds a lot more features, but the basic functionality started with the 7$ script (or at least, as far as I know - I might have missed some other earlier version).

Since I'am just starting out and unemployed its a bit pricy for my budget right now though; I may just have to invent a couple hours to write it myself. The sales page gave me a few ideas though.

You could shoot for the cheaper, and as a result less functional, but still quite powerful $7 secrets script

Rapid Action Profits is your best bet for this, I think they just set up a new 3 payment plan on it too for people in your situation that are short on immediate cash.

I will check out the second one later.

I just setup a really simple script where I used the 'customer note' feature of Paypal to capture a PHP variable (someone_elses_email@paypal.com) to be sent along with the order so when it is recieved I can just send the entire payment to whatever email address is in the "Customer's Notes" of that order.

It took me about 30 minutes to set it up with an 'affiliate tools' page strikingly similiar to the RAP system as well as dynamically generating customized HTML code.

As I have not researched everything about PayPal systems, is there tax stuff involved with this that I would have to deal with? If so then that would just add slag to the whole setup, making me waste time on repetitive tasks, which I do not like.

      Hi,

      In short... yes.

Since you are receiving the payment and THEN sending a payment to the affiliate, you are required to show the revenue as taxable income.

Your subsequent payment to the affiliate can now be reported as a business expense, but you cannot ignore affiliate sales and just report the net income as with scripts (i.e. Rapid Action Profits) that cause the affiliate to be paid directly.

For U.S Federal Tax purposes, you are also required to issue a 1099 to any affiliate who is paid $600 or more during any taxable year. That means that you have to develop some method of record-keeping to accumulate the amount paid to each affiliate.

My guess is that your affiliates also have no way of ascertaining what sales they have made, and are at your mercy with regard to payment. There is no way for them to verify that you have paid them in accordance with your terms. They will have the same reservations as with any other system where they are at the mercy of the merchant to receive the agreed commission rate.

Ah I understand it now, I took a look at the installment plan, and while this may sound grossly cheesy, I don't think I could even pull that off no matter how much I wanted to.

I really dont like the idea of messing around with the IRS, I like to make and keep as much money in my bank as I can and not get in trouble or audited (future self referencing, of course! )

I have a copy of the Butterfly Marketing software, but my host dosent allow some of the PHP functions used in the script, and I'am only allowed two databases.

          Hi Ross,

Today, I'm actually working on getting the 7 Dollar Secrets Script up and running for one of my products. I'm just reading over the instructions, but it looks pretty simple.

I've actually had it for over a year, been sitting on my hd gathering dust.

If I'm not mistaken, the script is still only $7 and you can get it from 7dollarsecrets.com <--non aff

It is a basic script, but it looks like it will work well for my purposes.

          HTH,

Oddly enough, I googled "$7 Dollar Secrets Script review" for some reviews and found a site setup where if you send them 30 unique visitors, a download link will appear.

So I logged onto a couple safelists and sent out a mailing, and sure enough, after 30 hits to their site I was able to download the entire script. :p

I'am not going to link the site here because what they are doing may be against the terms of the script usage, or maybe they have MRR or something. Oh well.

It's an interesting concept but beware refunds. If you're paying immediately to an affiliate and someone refunds or chargebacks you're out of luck.

Yep I was thinking that I would have to remove my refund policy once I implement the aff program. This would in all likelihood decrease conversions but I would just keep testing headlines and such until I made up for it.

I wont even allow access to the aff program until I have made around $800 from this salespage and another thats almost done, because I really need a new laptop and a few odds and ends to take my online business to the next level and beyond.

If you're rolling your own script, and it works like the OP's... you're absolutely right.

It's just one more reason to use a working system that anticipates such issues, provides for them, and has been in use by at least 1400 owners of the Rapid Action Profits script for almost 2 years now. (and we weren't the first).
