Setting up hosted affiliate program?

Recently a super affiliate approached me saying they wanted to promote a product that I sell. I told them I have an affiliate program with Clickbank (which they don't use) and they did not like that. They wanted me to just provide them a tracking link and set everything up for them. Does anyone have experience with hosting your own affiliate program which would allow to provide an affiliate with just a tracking link? What services or software have you used? I am looking for something simple. I will probably only use this for this affiliate only and continue to use Clickbank for all others so I just want the cheapest option available. This affiliate can bring 20,000+ unique hits a month of target traffic so I can not ignore this.

Post Affiliate Pro is pretty cheap but I have not used them and not sure how accurate they are.

How bizarre: they actually want to be dependent on a vendor they don't know, rather than having their payments guaranteed by a hugely successful company, longer established than Google, with an impeccable reputation for prompt and reliable payment?! Why would that be, I'm wondering?

I see ... so they're obviously not new to internet marketing, then (which was my first thought)?

Do you know (or can you ask them) whether they've made similar arrangements with any other vendors? It might be interesting to find out, perhaps? And maybe even see what that vendor used? I'm admittedly a notorious skepchick and highly suspicious individual, and I don't mean to sound "off-puttingly suspicious" about this, and of course I wish you well with it, but I can't help wondering whether maybe something just "doesn't sound quite right" about this? It's certainly rather surprising, isn't it?

Why don't they want to use ClickBank? Have you actually asked them?

I think they want it handed to them because they know they are going to bring huge traffic (they get 100 million page views a month). They typically have companies pay them ten's of thousands a month for banner ad and text ad placement. They don't usually do this sort of thing normally because they don't need to however I think they feel my product could generate a lot of commissions for them since most of the products in this niche are straight up scams. All I know is I will be happy to cater to them because the potential profits will be enormous.

Whatever software you choose, stay FAR away from IDev Affiliate - it's complete junk.

A simple way is to mirror the sales page or site. Add a buy now button using PayPal or your merchant account.

Then pay the affiliate a percentage of all sales that are generated by the mirrored page or site.

I would make sure the affiliate can send enough sales to make it worth your trouble first though.

I was thinking about this but there's a couple issues. What do you do about tax reporting for affiliates? Also does I was under the impression google would penalize a person for having two identical webpages. Could you prevent this by making a page no follow?

Personally I don't worry about what google likes or does not like.

I have never worried about getting a sales page listed in the search engines. I concentrate on getting my feeder sites ranked instead. The sales page job is to sell. The feeder sites job is to drive traffic.

You issue 1099's to your US affiliates for tax purposes.

I am reading that idevaffiliate screws up on tracking affiliate clicks a lot. How you found this to be true?

I had huge problem with IDevAffiliate! And it took FOREVER for tech support to find the bug in their system. I ended up with about a week of sales that had the wrong affiliate listed. While IDev did eventually fix the problem, there was no way to get correct data for that week.

ClickBank sure sounds like a more secure solution for both parties over some wonky third party script you install. Do a reality check for a second and realize this seems like a pretty big red flag.
