Question about establishing an 'Authority' status

As entrepreneurs we all know how important it is to establish yourself, your brand as an authority in your particular niche. As important as this is in the real world, it's especially important for an online businesses. This is primarily due to level of competition we all face online.

The good news is, once you understand the importance of communicating your business as an authority, there is no shortage of tutorials, tricks, techniques, strategies, tools, and resources to help you achieve this status.

However, that doesn't mean it's an easy thing to achieve. In fact, in some niches, it can be near on impossible to stand out as an authoritative source, with no hope of being the number one authority in that market. This is usually because the market is dominated by one of the big boys, one of the household name brands.

So with this in mind, I've been wondering, what sort of things would you like to see online to help small business owners and start-up's earn an authority status? Beyond what's currently available online, are there any tools or resources you would like to see? Maybe a specific tool that does something very specific or a collection of tools that would work well as one tool? Or maybe, a dedicated course or training that teaches a special skill?

I'm just wondering what you think is missing to help online entrepreneurs earn themselves an authority reputation?

Sadly, the thing that's missing is real authority based
on skills, knowledge and experience earned in the niche
rather than "manipulated" authority based on fluff and
    hyperbole.

      That's a fair point.
But there is nothing wrong with helping people achieve this status and so long as your being HONEST, I wouldn't say it's manipulative. Most consumers today are pretty switched on.

Gee, it sounds like the only thing you don't need is actual authority...

If you can come up with a tool that actually gives people real "skills, knowledge and experience earned in the niche", you may have something. Anything else falls in the realm of "fake it until you make it" and most people looking for this kind of shortcut are usually content to quit at "fake it."

To be fair, tools that would help someone demonstrate and publicize actual, earned authority would be more useful than another fake-it bot like those that harvest fake followers, likes, etc. as some kind of lame social proof. What that tool might be, I'll leave to you.

    1) Niche market
    2) Niche marketing exploitation
    3) Be everywhere on the internet in your niche
    4) Joint ventures
    5) Leading figure in your niche with proof to back up your credibility
