GoDaddy and Their Prices

I found a few two word .com domain name that's expired.

I went to godaddy and the name is available. However, godaddy wants to charge $60. Godaddy wanted $800 for another domain name that was registered.

I went to a few other domain registrars and they are charging the normal price for these domain names.

Does anyone know why godaddy charges more for some .com domain names?

Thanks
Tom

Normally in cases where the cost is higher than normal, Godaddy is acting as a third party for a domain owner that has listed their domain for sale with Godaddy.

The domain names have already expired and dropped. I can get the same domain names from other registrars at their normal .com prices.

I use godaddy for all my domain names and really hate to open an account with another registrar and have domain names at two different places.

I know what you mean. I would hate to have to spend about 2 minutes to open another account somewhere else.

I'm guessing that their site just hasn't updated yet. That I know of, they would not sell an available public domain for anymore than their regular price unless it was a 3rd party feed as alliance suggested.

I think someone mentioned it before that they are acting as a middle man for the domain holder. If you can find it at an alternative domain registrar you can purchase it and after 30 days you can transfer it to your godaddy account.

I've seen this too. The domain is expired and now available to register but it's still listed in their aftermarket for $XXX. They are just slow to update the info I guess.

Godaddy is goo just for one thing.

        1. To purchase cheap domains for $.99 or $2.95.
        2. Transfer the domain to NameCheap for $7.98 with extra year.
        3. In the worst case your domain cost you $5.46/year.

GoDaddy's site doesn't operate under the "Fair Business Practice" at all.
Make the wrong click and you end up with extra money at check out.
Not to mention they drive you crazy to renew your domain three months
before expiration time. I could list few more but, you get the idea.

Heard back and was told that it was considered a premium domain name.

The domain in question was analdriver.com and godaddy wanted $2,500 to register. I went to register.com and got it for 50 cents!

GoDaddy is in business to make themselves money not give anyone a break on price. As suggested go to Namecheap or any other site and buy what you want from there.

I have an account at namecheap.com and it was a PITA. I finally just abandoned it, and the domains. I don't think I had used them, so no biggie.

But i definitely agree about Godaddy.com. They are almost as big of a PITA. But they have good support.

GoDaddy is only useful when you have those $0.99 coupon codes.

Go do a search on godaddy for youreighteen.com.

      They want $250.

Now go to namecheap. Namecheap charges $10.69.
