Hey Guys,

I have been doing some launch jacking for the last couple of months and I have had some decent success with couple of my site. However, I have been creating separate sites for each product. I have been thinking of doing it on one big site. Is this the right approach? What do you guys think?

  • Regardless of what anybody says, having a keyword-rich domain name still matters. Which is why it makes sense to stick to what's already working for you - which is to have a separate sites for each product.

However, if you do want to with the "one big site" approach, you need to focus more on quality content to become an authority in the niche and get ranked for your chosen keywords. Building a profitable authority site in any niche takes time and effort, so keep that mind.

    • Thanks for your input Art. This is what I am concerned about that the visitors will be distracted with other products. I guess I will continue with same approach.

I guess I will continue with the same approach, but after a month or two it will be pain to manage so many sites.
  • If you really like the niche and plan to stick with it for a while, I do recommend that you start building a larger, niche site, so that you can promote multiple products on it. When you are building a larger, niche site, you should also build a list -- something you don't really do when you are creating a site around one product.

Also, make sure that you choose a generic domain name that's still related to your niche. When you are building larger sites, they can take longer to rank and stuff, so it's good that you have some smaller sites already bringing you in some money.

    Good luck,
    Joey
  • Hi,

It really depends on your plan of attack with this. There are 2 ways to go about it.

    Churn & Burn

As you've been doing, creating sites, ranking them quickly, making bank and moving on.

This is very low risk and if you get the right process in place can be turned around very quickly.

    Long Term Authority Site

The problem this will present is often with launch jacking you need to rank for keywords very quickly which usually involves some of the higher risk link building methods out there.

This puts the whole idea of long term at risk.

    What I Would Do

Carry on as you have been doing but also build out 1 main site on the side. Each time you build a site for a launch, create a new review page on your main authority site.

Don't build any links or really do anything with it for the first 3-6 months, just build up the content 1 launch at a time.

At that point you coulld start giving it some authority slowly and gently.

The idea been eventually you will build a site that won't need any links to hit the first page, just publish and rank.

    • Hi Matthew,

Long time reader of your blog. Didn't know that you posted here. Thanks for posting a detailed analysis. I will continue doing churn and burn and and on the side I'll look into devloping an authority site. I guess the blog post in your sig is going to come in handy.

I agree 100% with Mustafa Khundmiri, And if I would be in your place then I was making one site on each new product as its quite easy to rank a new site with almost no competition.. than ranking other site... And of course it takes lots of time and effort in bringing up authority site.
  • If purchasing lots of domains is the issue you might want to try using sub-domains, they will still rank well for a low competition product name derived keyword.

    • Purchasing separate domains for each site is not an issue, managing them is.
  • Managing is the toughest part of launch jacking. You don't want to leave the site alone and let it stay there. You must take good care of them to ensure that they last longer in the end. You need to keep them safe so they make money even ten months down the road. Edit your site so that they can be making money from that site even in the end.
