Adding another revenue stream

Hi all,

I have a blog in the pet care niche that is currently monetised with Adsense and Amazon Affiliate revenue.

I earn the vast majority - about 90% - of my money through Adsense. I'm working on increasing Amazon revenue, but would like to add another revenue stream to diversify even more. I don't want all my eggs in one basket!

Does anyone have any suggestions? I expect the best things would be:

- Sell my own product
Or
- Add another affiliate scheme
- Sell private ads (I was rejected by BuySellAds)

?

I looked at Linkshare, though I don't know if that will be significantly better than Amazon, and I was a bit scared off by the tax form part of the registration! I'm in the UK so didn't know what to choose.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Are you building an email list?

You could set up an autoresponder to send out regular emails with tips, along with promotions for both Amazon products and eBooks

I have feedburner set up, though the site only has around 100 subscribers so far. I could probably promote it more though.

I currently have feedburner send out the new post updates, but that's it. I don't send any more bespoke newsletters to the list (though I guess I could as those people have opted in to hearing from me?).

  • If you are able, I'd recommend creating your own product. If not, pick a good affiliate product to promote.

And yes, use an email list to promote it well.

The real money is in your own products, Adam - build a list, and simply ask your subscribers what they want. Build it and deliver it!

      Thanks all.

I've signed up with aweber, updated my sign up forms to look better and stand out more and I'm generally going to start taking list building more seriously.

I certainly see the potential of creating my own product. It's just finding the time to put it together and deciding what to include! I'm not sure whether people will pay for pet care advice that is all available for free on my site... But then I'm also not sure that I can justify only making some content available for a fee... Hmm..!
