I am new to IM. I have picked out my niche and decided to build a forum around and have done some research but its mainly just me scrolling through and clicking random threads and read it. I legit have no clue if it was beneficial to me or not. Im just asking for some help on where to start and possible post some helpful thread and not ones that dont help me at all and just waste me time when i could spend it doing something useful

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

There are many ways to go. Have you got a list for instance? Otherwise a squeeze page is a good way to start

If you are building a forum, grow your membership first.

is it an information product for a niche? and you found the niche by conducting and collecting target market research so I guess now you make a product and use it as leverage to build a CRM/database/list via a squeeze page etc depending on your scale-ability do a feedback loop research on your initial product make another product / improve the product / sell products make dollars fund better projects and products rinse repeat -

edit: wait// so the forum is the initial product? build list and content imo... sorry can't give very specific answers to the very general question

You need to figure out a clear path as to what you want to do. In the business world it's called a business plan.

If you want to run a successful forum, you need to advertise it and grow your membership. Get active members and grow it bigger. Forums can be very tricky because people only join if there is an existing members base so checkout a site like postloop to get it off the ground.

After you have the traffic, then worry about the monetization.

    1) Promote your forum everywhere (if it's your bread and butter)
    2) Promote it to your email list
    3) Get it listed in forum directories
    4) Make the sign up process simple and easy to see

Hey, Sounds like you running before you're walking.I would suggest strongly you learn the fundamentals of the online industry/Internet Marketing.

if you try doing 100 different things, nothing will work, more importantly - if you don't know what you are doing it will never work, then this will affect your belief system as you won't be getting results and then you will give up.

This is a MUST : Research is time consuming but so important. It's like laying down your foundations. You need to research - is there a hungry market? - Do not skip this aspect - DO RESEARCH. Identify Micro niches ( Small segments of niches within a broad niches) Your main niches are Wealth Generation, Health and well being, and Lifestyle.

If you are fairly new - Most commonly used model :

Many people will say Build an emailing list. This is simply having a person(Prospect)Opt-in into your landing page /squeeze page and generally in return for a free gift (Ebook/report) By doing so they will give you their email address, then you can offer value and build trust with your list and offer affiliate products or your own (Email Marketing)

If you want any more advice, id be happy to help

Forums need moderators because there are many spammers online, and you will also have to pay many people to write posts for your forum until real visitors will start participating of the discussions.

I don't think that the creation of a forum is a good idea for a newbie.

I have no experience with maintaining a forum -- but I can say from here it sounds like you need to start marketing it.

Get on some social network sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube and start telling everyone about your new site.

    Hope it goes well
