So Many Sellers Seem To Have Been Suspended

Hi. I have just been looking at recent sales on Flippa, and notice that a lot of sellers seem to have been suspended.

Can anyone shed any light on why this might be? It is making me think twice about becoming a Flippa seller as I would not want to be suspended on purely a whim! Appreciate your input guys, thank you!

There have been a number of posts here pointing out instances of Flippa listings where visitor and/or income figures have been manipulated/falsified.

If you now say sellers are being suspended, maybe at long last, Flippa is showing some integrity and banning this type of seller. About time . . .

If you sell sites on Flippa using ethical practices, I see no reason why they would ever suspend you and certainly not on a whim.

Please forgive the observation that it sounds a slightly ironic comment, Richard, given how very difficult it's been - for so long - for even blatant scammers to be suspended by Flippa. I suspect that they're now, finally, parting company from some of the most persistently fraudulent sellers there, incuding those who have never promoted a site without first faking the page rank of its own home page. I wouldn't think people who do nothing dishonest need to be concerned.

    AffiliateRg,

    Who cares...
Follow the rules, Flippa in this case, and you'll never have a problem.

This is a broad generality. I think you should put some actual numbers there.

    Was it 2, 3, 10, 50?

Then you need to put the number in relation to the number of people that are registered.

    How to avoid getting suspended?

Just read their rules and make sure to stick to them.

Flippa has no complicated rules but some users try to game the system. If you use common sense you should not have a problem.

I see a lot of people getting banned on the forums everyday but should/does that stop me from flying my kite high on the same forum? No, so long as am within the TOS my stay is secured.

This is a good step by Flippa, buyers were having issues with sellers. so it was compulsory to filter the sellers who violate their TOS.

I don't know for sure but I've heard that it has something to do with unpaid success fees. Sellers sell their site, pocket the money, and disappear without giving Flippa their cut.

If you don't pay the success fee within a certain timeframe you get suspended. In which case there may not necessarily have been a problem with the site or the sale.

You mean after making millions from these scam auctions, that Flippa is finally doing something about it

I don't think they are trying to be ethical, I think they got pressured from the FTC to clean up their act or get labeled as a scam site

It's easy to turn a blind eye when you are making a ton of money from these scam auctions, but not so easy when the FTC has an eye on you

No seller will be suspended if no violations are made. It still and will always depend upon the actions of the seller. Maybe some of them aren’t really giving what Flippa is requiring from them after they get their sales from domain buyers. Somehow, I am glad to hear about this observation.

Maybe they're trying to clean up their image. I've heard not so good things about that site.

Well, it should have been something that they have done way earlier. Maybe Flippa has already been losing a lot of money to those ungrateful sellers. It is about time they start eliminating and filtering users, if they want credibility to stick to their name. I am just happy they are doing this.

There's a difference on Flippa between banned and suspended accounts (from my experience).

Suspended accounts tend to happen when they are investigating something (e.g. suspicious bidding) or have failed to pay their success fee.

Banning tends to happen after numerous suspensions, a very clear rule violation (e.g. multiple accounts bidding on same auction) or scamming (although this is often hard to prove).

I don't have the data, but I haven't seen any obvious increase in bans or suspensions over the years. If they suspended everyone who violated their rules (in any way) there definitely wouldn't be many members left

Being registered in Australia, I doubt they care much about the FTC, but I'm sure at some stage they will get involved in a messy lawsuit if it can be proven they haven't suspended sellers who have been reported by others and they then go on to scam someone out of a few hundred thousand (again, not a lawyer, purely hypothetical).
