What product could I create?

Hi all,

I run a website in the pet care niche. I currently make all of my money from Adsense and the Amazon Associates programme (90% Adsense!).

I want to develop my own product but can't decide what to create.

If I make a PDF ebook then what content do I include? All of my pet care advice is available for free online so I don't know what I could write about that people would pay for!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Although not in operation yet, (and probably there will be some time for beta testing and evolution) google helpouts may provide a revenue stream and the ability to provide one-off consulting services.

    https://helpouts.google.com/welcome

However, there is a big problem with this idea (when it is available) if your primary revenue is from AdSense, as it is very unwise to put all your eggs into one basket -- if something screws up with your google account, you might be blown out of both programs.

If your traffic justifies it, a better way might be to work with local trainers.

Here's what I mean ... let's say you have a free ebook about obedience training. Instead of just getting their email and name to get the download link, update your form to collect breed of dog and city/state.

Allow local trainers to purchase a territory from you - maybe it's only $10 or $20 per month for a city (the value will depend on how much traffic you get). But if they own a city, then they become the ONLY person eligible to receive leads for that city... and whenever someone fills out your form in that city, you give their info to the trainer.

If I were a dog trainer, and every time someone downloaded your book that was in my city, you would give me their contact info AND the breed of dog so I could follow up with them? Sign me up!

    You are thinking wrong !

When you said that your advise is available for free online because you should be adding your experience into the mix along with putting the content together in one place.

People want to hear your experience and your story when creating a product ...
Think about running a poll to your audience and see what questions they want answered and their is your answer..

    Adam,
How can you help people the most with the product you want to create? It doesn't matter if the information is already out there for free, if you can save them time from hunting it down, add your own take/angle, and improve on what's already out there, you can create just about anything you want.

Also, with whatever you create, market it differently than anything else that is already out there.

    Good luck.

Thanks a lot for all of your suggestions.

      - I've asked my audience what they think and am awaiting their feedback!

      - Google helpouts look interesting - I've signed up for alerts.

      - Ron: I like the way you think! That exact example wouldn't work for me, but you've inspired me to think of something similar...

      - And finally, putting information into one place and adding my own take on things does sound like it would add value.

      Thanks again!
      Adam

write something unique on pets training, their food, health and activites involving them ect. I believe people who have passion for pets spend "good" money on them.

Don't be put off by the fact that most of the information is already out there. If you can save people time by presenting it in your own style that suits your audience go with that.

    best of luck

    Hey all,

Personally I like to create products that aid the Internet Marketing industry, making Facebook and Twitter tools and to make the most of a WordPress installation for internet marketing.

It really depends on what you can create yourself. Do whatever you like and pick a product to create that could potentially benefit others.

    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,

All you have to do is share you're experience :>

Every product creator have their own way giving the infos to the audience, and each person have a different experience in your "pet care" niche...

as long as you passionate with the product you create, i'm sure there will be a positive result :>

    just my opinion, though :>

How? What do you recommend? What have you learned so far?

If your service is complex enough that friends/family are confused about it then chances are there is a market. You have experience in a niche community not just pet care.

I find the pet obedience training idea suggested by ronrule to be very interesting. But if you want things to be simpler and less costly, you can just create unique how-to tips for pet care (since that is the niche that you have chosen) and try to be as interactive as you can.

Make a Udeny.com video course. Your videos have to be of high quality, so you may have to be prepared to outsource the video work.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

They will pay for the same stuff that is FREE! Allow me to explain. Moreover, you want to work with cool people don't you? So, if you have free stuff out there don't think a smart pet owner wouldn't like to have your information in one place for exchange for some money.

Based on experience, people don't have a lot of time in the 21st Century. Conversely, if they like you and the solution that you provide. Put together a home study course and sell it for $300.00. All you have to do is sell 2 a week AND you will make more money than a person working a full time job. (lol)

However, in the home study course I would record a mp3 file to show them how to implement the stuff that you teach. I have found that people get stuck trying put the stuff in the right place in the beginning.

Trust me, they will love You.

You should do some research before making any decision. Use the internet to find out what really people want to know when it comes to their pets. You can also ask your friends, family members, neighbors, collegues, etc.

      Hey AdamJ85,

You didn't specify the specific pet niche but let's just use Dogs as an example...

You can run a search on Yahoo Answers to instantly get an idea of the type of information dog owners are looking for.

You can also search Clickbank's marketplace with "Dog" as the keyword and then sort by "Gravity" to see which are the most popular dog info-products and then do them one better.

The key is to have the market tell you what they are interested in buying (or what they are already buying) so that you have the best chances of success right out the gate.

Also, check out the types of AdSense ads that are doing best on your site. This can also help you figure something out.

This is one of those "Test the waters" situations. You never know until you try. See how your market reacts, and go from there.

This and you can also begin by asking your market on what products or services they would like to see from your website. Your niche is quite interesting and you have plenty of pet owners out there. Be as innovative as possible. You can also try studying your competitors' marketing strategies to obtain ideas.

The best ways to take a ideas inspire asking your audience. Asked how he can help them. Tell them you're creating a product and you would like to create something that they want and that you would provide discounts from people who help you out.

I don't believe that you have ALL the information about youe niche on your site. You might have written about all the topics but I am pretty sure that you have not included everything about each of those topics. Products that go deeper into the subject do very well than those that are too general. So my advice to you would be to select a topic that received a good response from your audience and create a comprehensive product on on that topic, a product that includes all the information there is to be found on that topic. Your audience will appreciate that.

Once you have come up with a final list of the products and services that you will be offering and once you have introduced them, do not expect them to be a hit that easily. You will still go through a trial and error stage. Then, that is when you may narrow down your list and just concentrate on the ones left.

I could see a series of PDFs on basic pet care for a variety of animals. If you are already providing content through a blog, which animal topics seem to get the most traffic? I would begin by writing reports on caring for the animals that get you the most page views. Then, you can expand to others later, eventually encompassing a large majority of your readers.
